I read that the Sunset Safari at AKL is available only to concierge level guests. Is it available to DVC members staying at the Villas at AKL?

I understand it's available to anyone staying at AKL. But the price goes up considerably if you are not staying in a concierge level room.

Sunrise is only available to concierge level, the Sunset can be booked by all staying at AK/AKV, if there's available room. We haven't done either, so I hope someone adds to that.

$150 per adult, $75 per child for concierge.

$210 per adult, $105 per child AKL/V non-concierge.

Adult - age 10 or over, child age 8-9 (children under 8 are not permitted on the sunset safari).

Yup, any AKL guest can take it. I'm so excited to have it booked for next Saturday, May 3, and I'll be staying in a value studio. It's offered 4 evenings a week-Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. The phone number for reservations and more info is 1-407-938-4755. I THINK this is the phone number for AKL concierge. I had to leave a message on a machine and the CM called me back about 45 minutes later. The tour meets at Jiko around 4:00 (OMG-I just realized I don't know the exact time. I'd better find out!).

We did the sunset safari last month, and it was spectacular! BTW, not only do concierge guests get it cheaper, but DVC members get an additional $10 off when staying concierge.

If you want to do the sunrise safari, what nights would you book a concierge room for?

I believe sunrise is on Sunday and Thursday. At least that's what it was last month.

That means you would have to stay a Saturday or Wednesday night.

OK...when we go, we're hoping for a Thursday through Sunday morning. DH has fewer vacation days now, and so, if it's a weekend we have to do, so be it! He'll come after work on a Thursday.

Thanks.

Does anyone know if this tour is the same price as the sunset tour? And does anyone know when they start letting you book either tour? We will be staying in concierge at the villas and we are DVC members.

What does the sunset tour include? Is there a link anywhere??
The sunset tour includes about 1 1/2 hours on the savannahs (I think the CMs aid about 1/2 hour on each savannah) followed by dinner at Jiko's. I think dinner is served family style (Dianne, is that right?). The CM said there'd be 3 different platters for each of the appetizer, main course, and dessert. I'm just going by what he told me when I booked it, after next Saturday, I'll know first-hand. Meanwhile, Diane, can you confirm what he told me?

Nope, sunrise is $55 for DVC members.

Yes, that's correct. We had great guides on the savanna part of the tour. They knew the animal's names and told us little details about each one. We were on each of the savannas at the lodge, and dinner at Jiko was spectacular with three choices of appetizer, main course, and dessert. I believe wines were included as well and there was those wonderful breads at Jiko.

How do you book this?? My mom would love to do this when were staying at AKV in January.

Is the savannah they take you on for either of these tours at AK park? Or is it just the ones outside the lodge? ie: you won't see a rhino on one of these additional cost safari trips, just giraffe and zebra etc? :confused3

I believe the AM safari is at Animal Kingdom Park, the Sunset safari is at AK lodge.

WOW, I didn't realize that either. I'm usually more aware of things than this. It looks like I really missed out on all this. Thanks again for the info.
