Do you think its worth paying an extra $20/night for Pool view instead of standard view at AKL?

We've stayed savannah view before, and stayed standard last month, but never pool view. I can't afford savannah for 7 nights.

We only stayed standard for 3 nights- but i'm thinking for a longer trip, we'll spend more time in the room and not want to look at a parking lot. So pool view seems like a good choice, right?

You can be on the same floor as the lobby w/pool view right? What are good locations to request for pool view and which rooms do people avoid? Thanks!!

We had pool view this past summer on our trip to AKL. We have had savannah view the other two times we've been there. I want to say that I loved the pool view room. It had a lot going for it. We were on the trail to the right of the big window ~ the back right corner. (can't remember the name) It was a very short walk to the room from the lobby and right down the hall, maybe 20 feet, was the elevators that took you down near Simba's clubhouse and outside. This exit is the most convenient to pool access and Mara access. From our room we could always tell how crowded the pool was. I loved this location!

The savannah view rooms we have had were W-A-Y out at the ends of the halls, and after a long day at the parks that walk seemed endless. And once we got there, we didn't want to make too many trips back and forth to refill our mugs at the Mara since it was such a hike.

For $20 more it is well worth it to get the pool view.

Definitely go for the pool view! And request Zebra Trail. Pool view at AKL is beautiful!

The first time we stayed pool view we were on the third floor just above the pool slide. We LOVED it so much; it was very peaceful in the morning and we could see the flamingoes and even some animals in the distance. The next time we went, we reserved pool view again because we loved it so much the first time. It was awful. First floor next to Mara, we couldn't even see the pool, all we could see was bushes right up to our balcony. We could hear voices and see heads walk by but no trace of water. We asked to be moved and they moved us to Savannah (after MUCH discussion). Just be aware not all the pool view rooms have great views.
