AKL September - Any Calls Yet?

I am booked for Sept 7-15. My TA called this morning and was told that I am not on "the list" to be moved right now. We've been trying to extend our time at AKL through the 16th, and haven't been able to. I wonder if we can, now? I'll have to talk to DH and see if he still wants to keep our room only at WL for that night or stay at AKL that last night (will cost about $60 more).

I have been playing around the Disney site (well, the few times it has been working), and I notice that the site will not let you make ressies for any check in time from the 1st-15th but starting on the 16th you can make ressies.

I could just kiss you for posting this!!! I have been looking at December dates for AKL and Disney didn't have any availability online for the rest of the year (probably because they weren't allowing new reservations until they figured out the construction issues.) I just went onto the website and booked the exact same price for December that I had for September!!! I think there is a glitch in the system and they haven't removed the free dining promotion from AKL for future dates or something because I got the exact same price with the exact same details from my September free dining package for Christmas!!! Yay, I'm going to cancel my September trip and go in December now... I've struck gold!!! Of course, I moved very fast booking that new reservation because I was afraid the system would change it's mind if I waited... hehehe

We are staying at AKL, savanna view, 9/22-9/29. When I called CRO a week ago, I was told that we could move to another deluxe (she said specifically Poly and WL). At the time, I wasn't sure what to do so I just asked for us to be located as far from the construction as possible.

All week, I've been reading the threads here, checking with other friends and trying to figure out what we really wanted to do. I would not be happy to fly out from California, get to AKL, and find out that we needed to be moved (with maybe no choice of resorts they move us to), or worse, check-in and then need to move if the construction noise was bothering us (we tend to stay on West Coast time all week, so a 9am start is 6am for us. Yawn.) .

We finally decided that the Poly would be a nice match for our family. Called CRO again this afternoon, and was told:

1. At the time of our stay, all of the AKL construction would be "outside only" and shouldn't impact us at all.

2. Moving to another resort would not impact our free dining.

3. There were absolutely no other deluxe rooms available during the time of our stay.

I am really annoyed by the whole thing. I know that no matter where we stay, we're going to have a good time, but I've spent hours of time trying to figure it all out, get my DH to buy into moving to another resort, etc... In addition, where we stay does impact our AP's, and our one Fairy Godmother evening, and I don't really want to worry about changing those after we arrive.

Welcome Brodyjen! Another westcoast gal! I think that CRO doesn't really know since it changes on a daily basis depending on how construction progresses. You could call tomorrow and get an entirely different story. I wouldn't worry about it too much - easier said than done I know but I think it could work in our favour. If they've moved alot of people out maybe the resort will be half full which will mean an empty pool, no lines for breakfast and just a restful, peaceful environment. I for one cannot wait to go.

We check in that day too! IF IF IF IF we have to move, I will take no other choice but the Poly That's IF they'd give it to me!

Hi can you tell me what # you called? Did you call 407 WDISNEY or another #... Cause I'd LOVE to stay at the Poly.. it's my dream but it was too much moolah, but If I can get there this year.. I'D LOVE IT!
I'm booked for AKL 9-22 - 9-29 as well and I called 407WDISNEY a few weeks ago and asked if I have to move and they didn't know what I was talking about... thanks for the help!

We stayed 2 years ago (CBR), and had a great vacation. I know that no matter where we stay, it'll be fine - I'd just like to know for sure where we're staying, so that I can get AR's finished up, and finish my To-Do List for this vacation.

I posted this question about a week ago...I can't find the link to the thread, but there were about 3 people from what I recall that were checking in either the last day of August or so, or Sept. 1 or 2 and they had been called to move. I am just adding to the big question mark about what is going to happen in Sept. We are Sept 19-23 and we hope to stay. We are in the villas, but either way it's a concern because DS needs to nap during the day. Please keep posting!!!!

Well, it's official. I'm a fully paid up member of the hoping not to be an AKL refugee club. Made my final payment today. Tried to squeeze a little info about moves out of the cast member.She told me they are calling in chronological order and might not have gotten down to my time frame yet. (september 11th check in) and she didn't have any idea if they'd be done moving people or not. She said anything else I needed to know about it I would have to go through guest services to find out.

Sigh......I'm really hoping I stay, but if not I'm pushing for the Poly. Just for the easy access to Dole Whips.

Yep. She said they were still working on August reservations right now, and she was the one that brought up the construction, not me. I told her construction noise wasn't an issue for us because we'd be in the parks during those hours anyway. However, she also said that we could stay if we want, and we know that hasn't been true for some folks. Guess it's a waiting game now.

I was allowed to stay just a couple days ago, when I was called. Hopefully I get to. I somehow doubt very many Septembers will be called, since in mid-September you can even book AKL.

I'm wondering... if there aren't many people who are actually staying at AKL, will the bus service be as good? Will they still offer all of the great daily activities? Will the construction actually diminish the resort's appeal? I would hope not, but I would hate to get there and then find that the wait for buses is longer because they aren't sending as many around, or that all of the fun stuff isn't available due to lack of demand. What do you think???

I just tried to book sept 15- 19th at AKL (our stay) via the wdw web site and it states "The Resort you requested is unavailable for the dates and party size selected. A comparable alternate has been provided. To see if the Resort you requested is available for other dates and party sizes, use the Change Your Search module at right. " fyi we are a party of 3.

If anyone has the number to call would you post it? thanks

I called guest svce as we are due to arrive 9/12 & they advised me that the construction will be outside at that point & that they will not be calling anyne for that time.
