AKL Room Request Questions

A couple of quick questions about room requests for my upcoming AKL stay. I'll be in a Savannah view room.

I did online check-in as soon as I noticed I could, about a week ago. One of my requests was a lower-floor room because my understanding is that it puts you closer to the animals and you have a better view, is that generally true? My biggest concern is getting blocked by trees or something. Other question is, I wanted to request a king bed but that wasn't available as one of the options. Should I wait to request it at the front desk or am I better off calling ahead of time? I know I might not get it either way and it wouldn't bother me much if I didn't but I still want to have a fighting chance.

I would have the king bed request noted on your reservation before you arrive, I've read that rooms are assigned about three days before you arrive and if it's not noted there's no way they'd know you preferred one.
As for trees blocking your view - with a lower floor that shouldn't be an issue as your balcony will be lower than the canopy. The animals are brought into the barn each morning (the time depends on which savanna) and they move around on the savanna the rest of the time - although after a couple of days you'll notice that certain animals tend to show up at about the same time each day (we had a herd of Tommies, impalas and waterbucks graze past our balcony every evening whereas the zebras only showed up in the afternoons on our recent trip, for example) so what you will see depends on when you look. Enjoy your stay, it's a lovely resort.

We will be there for Christmas this year. How early will we know what savannah we will be assigned to? Can you request Arusha? What are the chances that our rooms will be adjoining? Thanks for any info it's our first deluxe experience

Arusha view rooms are priced a little higher than the other 2 savannahs. So you cannot just request an Arussh view room.

Ok that makes sense. So is it possible to request a standard savannah room that is closer to the lobby? I have read that it can be a long way from the lobby to some rooms
