Got back over the weekend. Here is my review of the AKL!

Great place to stay! Decor is wonderful. Rooms are great! The Animals are out there and easy to see. Everything about the resort was amazing. We spent a lot of time looking around due to Hurricance Charley and we were taken away. A must stay for all!

We never had a problems with any cast members and BOMA is GREAT! The Arcade is really nice for the kiddies and the Pool is very big.

Also, there are CM's out there to answer questions you might have on the animals. Very nice.

Once small problem I had was the Bus system. It was very slow to this resort. I am sure this is due to the fact that the resort is so far away from everything, but they should add more busses then.

Great Trip Too! Miss it already!

Thanks for the report. I'm glad you had a great time. You are right....a "must see" resort.

Funny about the buses....we found them to be among the quickest of any resorts. ::yes::

Thanks again for sharing!

I've heard nothing but good about the buses - I wonder if that was due to WDW operating on a skeleton crew? I heard that many CMs had to stay home to deal with storm damage etc... & that was affecting some customer service....

Thanks for your report-- I never tire of hearing AKL reports; I hope to stay there someday!

AKL is a great resort. I do have to agree with you about the buses. We had alot of long waits last summer. But that is the only problem we found. Everything else is great. Glad you had a good time.

Glad you liked it as much as we did! We found the buses to be very quick though, we never waited long...

My brother and sisters want to know if AKL has the arcade games that give out tickets to trade in for prizes... and if so are the tickets the same as the ones at all star in case they don't get enough to trade in at AKL?

thanks
Robert

Heard that they areputting in Refrigerators at the resorts. We are staying there in Sept. Have they started at AKL yet? Or should we bring our cooler?

This will be or first time there. Glad you had a great time even with the uninvisited guest, Charley!

I hope this was the problem. One of the reasons we loved AKL was because the bus transportation was the best we've ever experienced at a Disney resort. So glad you liked AKL though. Our family cannot wait to stay there again.

I asked my 14 year old son if he wanted to go on a cruise in 2005 or WDW. He said that he would go to WDW if we could stay at the AKL. I was hoping that would be his answer. :p

Yeah, weird about the busses. We stayed during Easter week and never waited more than 7 minutes for a bus. Hmmmm, hopeflly the OP experienced an exception only. BTW, I'm glad you like AKL, its our fave so far!!

Im staying there next week, I keep hearing about the buses being slow, is it any different than from a value resort?

We have stayed at AKL on four occassions and most of the other resorts multiple times, and have found the buses that serve AKL to be among the quickest.

Thanks for the recap! Speaking of the arcade...do you recall if the change machines took credit cards or only bills?

Thanks again!

Sheri

I've heard "talk" of problems with the AC being on a sensor and turning off during the day and even in the middle of the night. DH and I are coming armed with pantyhose to tie to the ceiling fan to keep the sensor stimulated so we can sleep without it being 80 degrees in the room

Any truth to this?

I'd also love to know about the fridges in the room...are they there yet??

I can't wait! First trip to AKL! I'll deal with the pantyhose if I have to!!!!

I am having a cartoon bubble vision of pantyu hose hanging off the ceiling fans and two people dancing on the beds in their pj's just to keep the AC on. Way too funny of a picture!!!

I just got back from WDW and stayed at the Swan who I understand has a similar sensor system with their a/c and I had absolutely no problem with it. Matter of fact, sometimes it got toooo cold and I raised the temp.

Don't know if anyone answered the fridge question - we just got back and at check-in they informed us the fridges are free to anyone interested now. When you get to your room, they told us to call housekeeping and they brought one up in minutes. There's a nice area next to the tv where they set it up. And ours came cold so there was no waiting time to put things in.

We never used the buses there, had our rental car but while at the pool, heard nothing but good comments from people using buses, better than YC/BC because no sharing!

Hey Nickunited -
We just got back too. Literally. I was wondering how it went for since if I remember correctly you were due to leave on the 13th.

Glad you liked the AKL. We had a great time too. Did Boma three times, kids spent more money than I care to count in the arcade. Great for when it was raining.

Back to reality.............
