AKL Points usage

I have already used all of my developer points and some of my 2007 points.

I used my developer points for a reservation at BCV for August and also one at BCV for October. I also used some of my 2007 points to finish my BCV reservation in October.

The May date is for owners to use AKV points to book at AKV. You can book at the other resorts with your AKV points now.

Yes, but your AKL points were used for a reservation after September 1, which is what I was told by MS. The PP said she used AKL points for a reservation last weekend, which is well before September 1. I'm just wondering why she was allowed to use them when everyone was told new AKL points could not be used on any reservation until the first DVC units opened September 1.

I think it was a mistake MS made, but clearly they could do it or the PP wouldn't have missing AKL points in her account now. I would really like to use both my developer points AND my new AKL points for a reservation in July, but MS said only the developer points could be used.

We added on at AKV and have a June UY. Our guide told us the points would become available in Sept (when unit comes online) and dues are due at that time. I'm basing my understanding on that.

If MS has been making mistakes by allowing bookings, I wouldn't expect them to grant the same 'mistake' to allow me to book anywhere prior to opening.

No, I wouldn't either. I was just hoping someone could confirm that this WAS a mistake, which I'm just assuming, or if anyone else had been able to use regular AKL points for a booking on site before September 1.

These were not developer points, we took the price credit. They were regular new AKL points.
Then the CM made a mistake and you got lucky.

Members should not be able to use actual AKV points to book a stay that takes place before Spetember 1. September 1 is the date that the AKV is first available to stay using DVC points.

The Developer Points that some chose instead of the point discount can be used for a stay before September 1, 2007. The Developer Points expire September 1, 2007 and cannot be used for a stay at AKV.

Sorry if this has been asked and answer elsewhere- or it's in the wrong thread, but anyone know how many units will be available in September, and of what kind (studios versus 2 bdr, etc)?

Thanks!

I had a long talk with MS about this issue last week. I was on hold a long time while they checked. This is the answer that I got.

There will be some AKV (5 to be exact) rooms coming online in August (the 19th or so). There will be more available later in August and then a large number in September. This is the kicker that I didnt know. The May 16th date for booking is only for those few people that bought contracts immediately and their rooms are opening first. Our rooms don't open until later so we have to wait until about 3 weeks later, cant' remember the exact date but I think it was around June 6th to book. So the chances of getting anything before September 1st is slim to none.

I was suprised by this since every other time I called they said May 16th was the day. So I gave up on the late August trip and booked at VWL. :thumbsup2

Anyone have a similar response from MS?

When does your unit open? Based on this map: http://advc.disney.go.com/media/dvc/languagespecific/eng/resorts/animalKingdomVillas/DAKVMap.pdf everything outlined with white dots is opening in July and everything outlined in blue dots will be open in September. The first people on these boards who reported buying into AKV all bought units in the blue (Sep) area. When is your unit supposed to be available? It's also odd that the date they gave you (June 6th) is the published date for non-owners to book at AKV. The following is from the AKV FAQs on the public DVC website: http://dvc.disney.go.com/dvc/guest/resorts/resortDetail?id=ProspectsDAKVFAQPage

When can Members and Guests begin making reservations?

Members with an Ownership Interest at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas can begin making reservations at the Vacation Homes in Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas located at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge on May 16, 2007, based on limited availability. All other Disney Vacation Club Members can begin making reservations at these Vacation Homes on June 6, 2007, based on limited availability. It has not yet been determined when rental reservations will begin.

Susieab:

Thanks. Doesn't sound too encouraging for those of us who didn't buy in and hoped to sneak in a couple nights this Fall by booking after June 6th. I looked at the map linked and it didn't look like a lot room-space, but I was hoping.

I guess we'll be spending the whole trip at BWV (never been there, either, and I'm sure we'll love it).

Actually, Carol, my guide told me that my developer points would expire 7 months after my contract date, which was March 7. So I have until October
7th to use them.

Just in case, I am planning on using them during our family vacation in July!!

I think you were told wrong.

OK, I'm giving up now!!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Wonder why it's so hard for my guide to get on the right page here?? He was very specific about it - even looked at the calendar and counted out the months. I'll bet he wouldn't remember that if for some reason I did try to use them after September 1st, though!!

I think they are correct about developer points. They expire 7 months from your closing so mine expire sometime in September. I think that one of the issues is that developer points are not really AKV points (so I have now been told). So since my room is not complete yet (not sure of the date that it will be) I am not able to use the early booking window to book with my developer points at AKV.....

So we have given up and are doing a few days at Vero and a few days at VWL with our developer points. It has gotten WAY too confusing for me.
