AKL Points usage

I never thought about this before, and now I am confused. We bought 2 50-point contracts for AKL. I understand that we can start using them on May 16. Are they considered 2007 points? Do we have 100 2007 points and must we bank what we don't use? Our use year is in June. In June 2007 will we get 100 more?

my understanding is this - you would receive your 2x50 points in june - you can start using them may 16 but since your points come to you in june you would have to borrow them if your reservations are before your uy month.

You shouldn't have to borrow them as long as the points have been added to your account by the first day of your stay. The points do not have to be in your account to make a reservation. They just need to be there at the time of your stay. Are you saying that they gave you 100 points and you will get more in June? That doesn't seem likely. I assume that the points are not actually in your account until June 1st of this year. You can check for sure by looking at your accounts on line or calling MS.

Unless you took the developer points instead of the discount, the points are June 2007 points but you can't use them for stays before your unit opens, likely 1 Sept. The way it looks, you can't even borrow the points for stays prior.

How do they do it when a resort first opens up with the 11-month window? Will ALL members be able to book into AKV for this fall/winter because it is in the 7-month window? Has anyone heard when the first phase will actually open for stays?

With AKV, and I think SSR when it was preparing to open, they have instituted a small home resort window of a couple of weeks.

I do not nor do I think it's been formally released. There have been rumors of early June but since I'm not sure the exact date being thrown around, I won't even post it. I'm sure others can provide more info.

According to the DVC public website, AKL owners can book 5/16/07 and other DVC owners on 6/6/07. Doesn't say what dates will be available.

We can use them now, on May 16 we can call to book to use them at the new AKV. Case in point, we went to Florida last week to Daytona Beach. We decided to go down to WDW for one night as a side trip. When I called to book a room they asked if I wanted to use my AKV points and I said yes. She pulled 47 points from 2007 and I have 53 AKV points remaining. I had already used all of my SSR points for 2007 so i know she pulled the AKV points. Plus the totals online in my account match.

So. you could call right now and book a trip starting June 1 when your points are loaded and use those 2007 points. Make sense?

Did you get developer points? I just called and MS said I could not use my AKL points until September, but I could use my developer points this summer. From reading your post, it sounds like you got to use regular new AKL points last weekend. Is that right?

These were not developer points, we took the price credit. They were regular new AKL points.

just brought points on sunday 04/08. you can call 05/16 to book from 09/01 on. Thats when the first units are expected to be ready, that is when all maintenace dues will be charged and pro rated.

Yes, that's what MS told me, too. My question was about the PP who was able to use AKL points for a night's stay last weekend. Anybody else able to use them already for a stay anywhere?

I have an Oct UY and my guide told me my dues are not due until my UY starts.

I believe your statement (above) applies to those with UYs of Sep or earlier. For those with Oct or Dec UYs, our dues are not due until our UYs start. At least, that is my understanding given when my guide told me when I purchased my add-on.

I have already used all of my developer points and some of my 2007 points.

I used my developer points for a reservation at BCV for August and also one at BCV for October. I also used some of my 2007 points to finish my BCV reservation in October.

The May date is for owners to use AKV points to book at AKV. You can book at the other resorts with your AKV points now.
