Most definitely. We had been booked at Port Orleans but even before it was announced it wouldn't be included in free dining, i started running numbers to get to AKL

Back to the real "World" September 25th-October 2nd at AKL

AKL lovers I need you to give me a push!!


We are booked at POR but will have to switch when FD to the public comes out May 7. Our plan was just try CSR out. But I am not feeling it It just doesn't feel right. And that only leaves us with CBR for moderate. We stayed at CBR in October and liked it, but did not like the internal bus situation.


I've given some serious thought to just splurging on AKL and hoping a 30-35% discount will come out for our November dates.
We've never stayed Deluxe though so it's hard for me to justify that extra $500 or so. I'm sure my girls will love seeing the Animals.
Also my TA suggested I book a standard room and hope for some pixie dust for a free upgrade?

Be honest with me if it's worth it or not, over CSR or CBR!

Is it likely for a 35% discount to come out for November?
We will be staying at WDW for 6 nights (doing a 4 day cruise beforehand!)

11/10-16 I would say there's a decent chance of a 30%-35%. The current Bounceback offer includes those dates and it is a 35% discount for Deluxes. That doesn't mean that AKL is included, but it usually is (although not necessarily all room types).

My advice is to book the room type you will be happy with in case you don't get upgraded. A "standard view" room can still be on one of the Savannahs - one of the reclassified rooms that doesn't have enough of a Savannah View to warrant the cost of a Savannah View!

The other thing I wanted to say is that CSR is a wonderful resort also! AKL and CSR are my 2 favorite resorts (and I have stayed at all the resorts, except All Star Music and Fort Wilderness!)

Whichever resort you chose, you'll be happy!

I have a question... Can I get bunkbeds for a standard view? The website lists them under standard view, but when I called they said I can only get pool view and that I have to pay more. Anyone with more knowledge? Thanks!

I did the same thing! I phoned for a standard bunk bed room and was told that only pool or savannah had a bunk bed option. So I checked the website again and phoned back only to get the same reply. This time the CM listened to me and checked it out and said it was the room configuration request of a bunk bed. She put that in my reservation so that I have a standard with a bunk bed request. Does anyone know how often the requests are granted? We are stretching our budget like elasti-girl just to stay at AKL so can't really afford changing to a higher price room ,but bunk beds would definitely help with keeping the peace (DD6 kicks like a kangaroo in her sleep). Plus we are going to celebrate (?) my 40th, so A little pixie dust would be awesome!!

So far we have AKL booked for Aug 21-28, 2014, standard room. I'm not sure where yet. This will be our first time at AKL (usually at POR). Woohoo!

AKL is a wonderful resort, but just in case that doesn't work out, please be just as excited for CSR - it's right up there with AKL in my book! (It's the only Mod with a Health Club; the rooms are very spacious; plus the pool is AWESOME (as is AKL's! )

1 year from today my wife and I will be checking into our first DVC stay at WDW (first time at AKL also)!

10 days until AKL CL!!!! I was sitting out on my porch yesterday (we have woods behind us) and I said to DD3 - "Just wait, when we are back at Disney, we can sit out on our balcony and see zebra and giraffes instead of deer and woodchucks!" Her face was priceless!

We are leaving for AKL Kidani in about two hours. Have already had three wonderful days in South Florida visiting family. Now we go for five glorious nights at Disney. Lunch at Via Napoli and dinner at Cinderella's Castle today.


I also get to book a trip for November when we get home to come back for the Miner's train. I was so hoping it would have opened this week.
