Okay, shall I try it or not?:woohoo:

Heck, yeah! Out of curiosity... why does the number of DVC points you have affect whether or not you can go look? Other guests at AKL are being invited. :confused3

Love it! :rotfl:

I have been so busy! It is almost a month since I quit smoking And I walk every day now...I am up to doing 6 miles a day

Today I called DVC MS to order my ME for next month (I know I can do it online, but the 1 time I did, they messed up) and while I was there, I decided to book another trip
This one is a solo trip, ONLY ME!
Got a savanna view studio March 14-19th 2010

CONGRATULATIONS on both your 1 month :yay: and your new trip!! :woohoo:

Hello Wild Bunch!
I just found the thread and I am so excited. I must say that I have bee a "lurker" since 2005!! I feel that I know Kimmar and Brookelizabeth. I have read all of your trip reports - and I feel right at home.

That's so sweet! :goodvibes Glad you are posting - please post a link to your TR, I would love to read it!

I'd like to get a cake or dessert delivered to my parents room the day after they check in, can this be done? Can it be zebra domes? Who do I have to call?

I didn't see that your question got answered - you can order Zebra Domes to the room. I think you can call the resort and just ask for Dining. I am not the best to answer this because I've never done it at AKL, but I *think* that is what I recall from others!

SOMEONE ANSWER THIS BETTER THAN ME! :rolleyes1

I was so glad to see this board still going-kimmar......as my DH just asked me if I would mind changing our summer trip to DC and Williamsburg to WDW, and specifically staying at the AKL ...

Oh, twist my arm! :woohoo: CONGRATS!

And yep, I'm a big fan of the smell at AKL. Ahhhhh :cloud9:

...SSSSHHHHHH, DON'T mention 'trippies' around here......

:lmao:

....:confused3 it won't work - he has inpenetrable 'helmet hair'! Well, at least he HAS hair....

:lmao::lmao:

No one else on this thread seems to care but I think it is so exciting!

I DO I DO!!! I'M SOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!! (just haven't been on here much lately :))

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! SO AWESOME! I can't wait to see them start to pour in to get all the details. I'm a bit bummed to hear the lobby is much smaller, but I kinda figured so too. The pool looks GREAT!

Do you guys think I should take a chance and barge in after dropping Ben at school? (of course, with my camera).
Okay, shall I try it or not?

YES GO!! Pretty pretty please! Take lots of pics and report back. :yay:

I was just coming over to post this

My cousin in law was at the Open Mouse today--she'll be sending pix

Please share them when you get them! I want to see more!

I was just coming over to post about the Kidani photos!

Bensmom - how lucky are you to be able to pop in to WDW on your school route?? Very jealous!!! Please go and take pool photos!!!!! :teeth:

I have a friend who has started a new website, launched today, in honor of Earth Day and the opening day anniversary of Animal Kingdom. It is a work in progress, but knowing John it will be impeccably done.

BCV23-awesome pictures...thanks for sharing...not to be a litte dense but are they just being extra "protective" of letting people in because its the opening? I know when we stayed at the WL we walked around the Vacation Villas there -no problem-we'll be able to check them out in August when we go right :confused3?

Also I read that Sanaa is "Indian food with African influence"-I personally love Indian food so I really hope it is up and running and good when we get there-I have to make my ressies in two weeks...? I wonder if they'll be accepting?

brookelizabeth-going back and reading lots of pages-am enjoying your last trip report (half way through) at Saratoga Springs-Henry is tooo cute and it sounds great-i hope he stays well through the rest of trip...sigh...someone in my family always gets sick at least one night each trip but your little guy (and big guy) sounds like he really took one on the chin...:sad2:...it sounds like all ends well though and I'm enjoying all of your detailed writing and great photos...

Well we officially booked last night and I convinced DH that since I am the official trip planner I really decided that we need an extra night (I really wanted 2 more extra nights but decided I wasn't going to push it...) so we are now booked for 6nights 7 days-August 18-24....:goodvibes

now since we got the free dining plan (we've never done the dining plan before ) I've got to carefully figure out how we're going to use it-I'm not going to plan on any restaurants that take two table credits (even though I'm a foodie and love CGrill, and Flying Fish, etc...) but I want to keep the food cost as reasonable as possible -DH will be all happy and think HE is a genius-but in the long run it'll work out for me anyway...:cool2: so I was hoping to get some new food ideas...

I know I want to do Boma for dinner (and probably for breakfast the day we leave...)

If Sanna is up and running I think we'll try that as well...

We really enjoyed Kona when we stayed at the Poly...

We've never been to Le Cellier :confused3 and I remember reading really good stuff about that in the past-does any one know if it is stil good?

Also has anybody done Chef de France recently?

Sadly Spoodles has closed, Flying Fish is 2 table credits...so is Jiko but I've read bad reviews recently-I might break down and do one Signature dining...

Any suggestions...?

Have a fabulous day....:goodvibes

Can't take any credit...they're not my pictures.:goodvibes Someone on the DVC forum saw them in a trip report I think and posted them. Fun to see!

I think they're being so careful because Kidani isn't actually open yet. That happens 5/1. The guest from Jambo House are being bussed over. Noticed in the handout that the park buses will go Kidani>Jambo house>park. DTD routes will be Jambo House>Kidani>DTD.

They are taking reservations for Sanaa already. I can not wait to see reviews.

We love Chefs but usually go there for lunch. Have you tried Tutto Italia...it's really good?

LeCellier is a good option. :thumbsup2

Saana will is opening next month - by your 90-day mark there should be plenty of reviews! It's on our list for late May! :cloud9:

I wouldn't use any of the TS credits for breakfast, Boma included. Pay OOP if you can.

Chefs de France has Remy there until Sept 1st (I believe that's the date). All Ears had the information and a picture -- looks cute! That's another one we're doing next month! :woohoo:

Kona is still as wonderful as ever. :goodvibes

Are you sure you don't want to do one Signature Dining? When we've been on the DDP, we found that using all the credits was usually too much food unless we did a 2-TS credit meal or 2!!

Tutto Italia :cloud9:

Happy Planning! ;)

We had dinner at Boma on the 9th and it was fantastic as usual.

We tried Jiko on the 11th and it was great, too.

We had lunch at Chefs last week -- it was great food & the interaction with Remy just made it even more special.:) That was our first time eating there.

We really enjoy having dinner at 'Ohana at the Poly -- it's fun, the food is great, and the dessert is heavenly...:cloud9:

We had lunch at Tutto Italia, too, and I think it was one of our best meals at WDW. I highly recommend it!:)

Has anyone seen the pool signs as to whether it is a sister pool for AKL or DVC only. Would love to know as of in two weeks. Thanks.

In the handout in the pcitures, it explains that it is all one lodge and that all amenities are shared across the resort.

PracPerfPatricia, meant to tell you congratulations on your reservation.:cool1:

We saw Remy at lunch last month...so cute and his handler was hilarious.

How great to finally have this in writing!! Although getting a bus back to Jambo in a damp bikini may not be wirth the share....

I need some more pool photos from somewhere or someone! :rolleyes1

Here are a few tidbits--I'll track down some more--

§ Phase I of Kidani Village (includes 55% of the rooms and all resort amenities except Pembe Savanna) opens May 1. Phase II (45% of the rooms and Pembe Savanna) opens Sept 1.
§ When completed, Kidani Village will have 493 rooms, bringing the total number of rooms at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas to 709.

....:confused3 it won't work - he has inpenetrable 'helmet hair'! Well, at least he HAS hair....

:rotfl: Well, we'll just have to think of another way.

wickey's friend-oh yeah I was crushed when he brought it up but I played it really cool :cool2: and told him as seriously as I could that we would have to double check with the kids in the morning to make sure they were ok with it...he he.he-he actually thought I was serious..:rotfl2:

Too funny!

Another fan of the scent of the AKL lobby.:lovestruc

I posted earlier that CMs are staying at Kidani this weekend and that a bus driver reported it was opening today. More reports on the DVC forums indicate that he was right...today was an "Open Mouse" :rotfl: for CMs at both Kidani and THV.

Another DVCer staying at Jambo House said she received an invitation to tour Kidani tomorrow am. Buses will transport guests.

No one else on this thread seems to care but I think it is so exciting!:cool1:

Oh, I care!!! I want to see and I want to buy!!!!

Thanks for posting these! It looks sooooo nice. Yep. That's where I want to buy in. Maybe some day.

DS and I are sick buddies today:sick:...his sister just went back to school after being home and I guess she left us w/ a gift...

Up side is that I get to play on the computer...

Forgive my sick (& drug addled-prescription...) brain but are the AKL Villas attached to the main resort-I mean since you can share facilities can you walk over to the pool say or is it too far and you need to take the bus or is it just kind of a hike-it isn't physically seperated in anyway...?:confused3

BTW in case anyone is from the metro DC area-I wasn't busting on it-I happen to really like DC-and have been there several times...(I actually haven't been down to Williamsburg which I know is probably charming we could actually do it as a long trip from home-we live outside Philadelphia) I happen to think that everyone that can should visit DC when they get the chance-having said that...I'm going back home to the AKL :woohoo:

racheltori-I actually like the advise about doing one signature dining-I agree about the overloading on food thing...I can't eat huge meals at every meal or I'll probably wind up sick-so mixing it up is probably a good idea...

Thanks all for the food advice-one last food question...

Ok-we're definately in for Boma and Saana and since I've never been Le Cellier

If we do a signature (2 credits) should it be Jiko or Flying Fish...?

Between Tutto Italia and Chefs de France which way would you go?

On an entirely different note...

Would you consider doing the Sunrise Safari with a 6-well he'll actually be 7? Or better for my 14 year old daughter and have DS and DH do another special activity together?

Decisions, Decisions...
