I'm looking to book a 3 bedroom grand villa at AKL, but wonder if we have more room with two 2 bedroom villas instead. We'll be a full party of 10 adults and 2 toddlers. I haven't stayed at the resort yet, so appreciate any feedback.

I understand availability will factor in what I can book for my travel dates, but will leave that out of this thread.

2 - 2 BR will be less points and provide much better sleeping options (2 Kings, 4 queens, 2 queen sofas and 2 twin chairs. Plus if you have any cancellations, you just drop the 2nd 2 BR.

You could go either way, and personal view is to choose Kidani regardless of which you choose. It has dedicated 2BRs that are larger than Jambo, have two queens in the second bedroom, a pull-out queen and twin size sleeper chair in the living room, and three bathrooms. Those can very comfortably hold 6 a piece.

The Kidani 2-story GVs have the combined liviing room, dining room and Kitchen, that provide ample space for a group of 12 and its floor to 2nd-floor ceiling windows in the living room provide fantastic views. It actually has sleeping spaces for 14 — a king in the downstairs masters, two queens in each of the upstairs bedrooms, a queen pull-out couch in the living room, and a queen pull-out couch in the alcove at the top of the stairs on the second floor, where there is also a table, dresser, and TV. It has four bathrooms, the master, another near the front entry door and two upstairs,

As to being able to get a Kidani GV, they are usually open seven months out from mid-Jan to late Sep, but much more iffy in the high demand season that runs from late Sep to marathon weekend in Jan.

Thanks so much for the info. I am going to go with the 2 2BR route and hope to snag at 7 month mark. I do have my home resort booked as fallback if the rooms aren't available. And very good info on Kidani.

If you book the Kidani two bedroom villa, you'll have three full bathrooms in each villa. So that gives you six for your group in two two bedroom villas. If some of the adults want to be able to come and go without disturbing the others, you might even consider one lockoff. You'd give up one real queen bed for a double sleeper sofa, but the second bedroom would have it's own kitchenette and exit to the corridor.

Having 10 adults is a lot of people in one space. The two bedrooms will also give you an extra bedroom which might help with a 4th bedroom of sleeping surfaces! Plus with small children you may find that one unit is used for the kids and more of the "quiet" unit where the other one may work for having people that prefer to stay up later. Just some food for thought.
