Hi,

Just looking for some advice...

I just booked AKL for 1 night in July for $154.30 with tax . My question is, is it worth it? I thought it was a good rate and trying to decide if we should stay here. We are stay at the Dolphin for 4 nights before this. We are just planning on hanging out at the hotel for the day. Any advice or comments would be great, I have never stayed in a deluxe before.

If you want to just hang out at the hotel for the day -- definately! We stayed two nights at AKL in Feb and spent one day just at the resort, then moved to WL.

Warning -- you probably will wish you had stayed longer.

If you can possibly afford a Savannah view -- be sure and book it that. I liked sipping hot tea in my bathrobe in the morning while the giraffes had breakfast right under our balcony.

I agree with the above poster. It was fabulous. Make sure you have your swimsuit handy so you can lounge by the pool while you wait for your room to be ready. There is so much to just explore at this resort. In fact we skipped park days just to stay and enjoy the resort.

Deb.

We are staying at the Dolphin before this and thought with the $154 a night rate we should just try it. All we plan on doing is swimming and exploring the hotel. I thought abou the savannah room but the extra cash just doesn't seem worth it just for 1 night. We are traveling with 3 kids under 3 so relaxing on a balcony is out of the question. Who relaxes with 3 small kids? Any advice on what section or floor to request? I had requested a non smoking king bed room so far. Any help would be great!!

We stayed at AKL for one night in December to see if we liked this resort. Loved it so much that we're going back for 2 days in July. :D I'm assuming you have a standard room. Be sure to ask for an upgrade. If an upgrade is not available, be sure to request a room on the other side of the bus loading area. Trust me!

We stayed there for 2 nights in Sept before checking into our DVC home BWV's......We enjoyed it so much that we took our kids there in March for 1 night before checking into our DVC...The kids loved every minute...We watched animals, ate at Boma, swam, watched animals, went to the gift shop, walked through the lobby, listen to the evening fireside story telling....It is worth every minute...while the savannah view is awesome...you can see animals all over....

I think AKL is an ideal resort for a 1 or 2 day stay especially if you don't leave the lodge.

We stayed at AKL for one night (before moving to the BC) in April. We arrived at AKL at noon, went to our room and then to the pool and hot tubs. We spent the late afternoon on our balcony watching the animals then had dinner at Boma and explored the resort. The next morning we had breakfast while watching the animals have theirs!

If at all possible try to get a Savannah view room. Maybe your kids will all nap at the same time and you could relax on the balcony.:)
