AKL Balcony???

I have read a few posts referring to the "closed" balconies at AKL. Do they also have "open" balconies? If so, which are there more of? I have 2 kids 7 and 5, and I want them to be able to see the savannah w/o us having to hold them (they are getting big ) or climibing on chairs with us hanging on to them of course. I need to call and put some requests in anyway, so I thought I would ask for an open balcony if they are available as well. Thanks for any help

I KathyR, I'm not positive because I haven't stayed there yet, but the way I understand it, is that room that are level to the ground, have some sort of concrete thing instead of a railing.

Looks like we'll be at AKL at the same time! My DGD is 7 years old too! Hope to run into ya at the pool or somewhere, the kids can play!

I don't remember seeing the "closed" balconies but that could be in a couple areas where, for aesthtic architectural reason it looks better. There are 1200 or so rooms here and I would bet not more than 20 or so rooms have this. The other rooms have colorful bars to look out for those noth high enough to see over the top.

We will only be at the AKL for the 26 before we move to the BWV for the rest of the week, but I would love to run into you all My daughter is the 7 y/o in our party too I think we are both going to MNSSHP on the 27th as well, and I thought I read you were doing LTT before as well??? If so, that is our plan as well, so it would be odd to not run into you all at some point!
We will be hanging out at AKL swimming and exploring (probably more exploring than swimming since our room may not be ready at the BWV and we can swim there to tire the kids out for a nap before the big party ) until checkout on the 27th. I'll be watching for you!

KathyR, we should arrive at AKL around 8:00am or so on the 26th. The girls want to go to MK the first day....on a Saturday. So I'm hoping to get checked in, store our luggage, then head to the park as early as we can. BUT, when they see AKL, they may not want to rush off so quick...I'd like to just hang out at the resort and get settled in myself, but we'll see.

Sunday the 27th is MGM then Epcot WS day...probably a pool break in between so we might see you then.

We aren't going to the party until the 31st...girls choice again. I know I'll miss seeing all the 27th party going DISer's, and the mini meet that could happen on the Boardwalk on the 31st, but there are several DISer's going to the party on the 31st as well so maybe I'll meet some then....I'd like to anyway.
