Slacker pace today! Slept in, then slid into our groove. Coffee, blue plate special, coffee, and of course, a _ _ _ _ _ _ !
The weather had cooled down considerably, there were frost warnings for later tonight. Jeans and sweaters zipped and buttoned, we headed off to Animal Kingdom Lodge.
I'd been looking forward to seeing AKL, drooled over everyone's pics, read the stories about watching the animals from your balcony while sipping on some frosty exotic concoction with a plastic spear in it. WOW....fabulous place! We wandered all around, checked out the pool, gift shop, the restaurants, and of course the animals!! AKL and WL had the same architect, didn't they? Very similar structures with beautiful attention to detail, really outstanding! Someday...someday...I'm going to stay there, I made DH swear we would, pinky swear! After making ressies for dinner at Bomas, we left for AK.
I really like AK, the lushness, music , buildings, the whole atmosphere appeals to me. We headed straight for the Kilamanjaro fast pass kiosks, then off to Tuskerhouse for some lunch. I can't remember what we had, but it was good. After lunch, we checked out some pin carts and went back to ride KS. This is a great ride, and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Not as many animals as when I had ridden it on my own during DisCon, but that just means we'll have to come back sometime (soon) and do it again!
DH's second, and my third trip to AK, and we still hadn't seen Festival Of The Lion King, so that was on the "must do" list. We went and picked up fastpasses for Dinosaur, then got in line for the show, the last one for the day. Very entertaining! Great music, colours, performers, very high energy! It reminded me of how badly I needed a coffee.
Back to Dinosaur, and disappointment. The ride was "down" and they had no idea when it would be back "up." We waited while I finished my java jolt, but it was still closed, so we went and poked around some of the shops.
After watching the parade, we left the park and headed back over to AKL for dinner at Bomas.
DH ordered some wine while I quizzed our server about the specialty drinks, and guess what...they had one that tasted like ....bananas!! Victoria Falls Mist is the name of the drink, very tropical, with a lovely subtle banana flavour...very high on the yummy scale!!
The food was great! We ate...and ate...yet made sure to leave room for dessert. Good thing too, because I noticed bread pudding on the dessert table when we had entered the restaurant. I love bread pudding, especially when it's Banana bread pudding. I had three helpings.

We waddled out of Bomas and parked ourselves in front of the indoor firepit, just relaxing, full, happy, and being warmed and hypnotized by the fire.
Rousing ourselves from our semi-stupor, we decided to go to DTD Marketplace. Walking out of AKL, it hit us, it was COLD!
The Marketplace wasn't very busy, and we bought quite a bit of stuff. Spending money somehow warms you up, doesn't it.
After enjoying a hot chocolate from Ghiardellis, we decided to head back to POR. It was too cold out, just like home!
Back to POR, a nightcap, then off to bed!
VICTORIA FALLS MIST
Tangerine liquer
Melon liquer
Banana liquer
Citrus juice (sweet & sour mix)
Orange juice
Splash of Sprite
Enjoy!!
