Akershus Princess Dinner: How does it work?

I have looked at the menu, and it has the Taste of Norway with meats, cheese, seafood, and salads, and then it also has Entrees and Desserts. Is the Taste of Norway buffet style, or do they bring a platter to your table? On the Entrees, do you order one from that list and then one dessert? It says everything is included, so I didn't know if one person could order 2 Entrees. Not that we would, that seems like it would be ALOT of food, I just wasn't sure how this particular restaurant worked. Also, is the photo with Belle included in the price?

I would like any comments on if this is a good meal. It will be me (I am up for trying new foods), DH (pretty much will try anything, but likes lots of food and is a meat and potatoes guy), DS (will be 16 and can put the food away), and DD (who will be 4 and is a basic food kind of kid but LOVES princesses!)

We love this restaurant for dinner. There is a cold buffet that you get up from the table and go to. It has cold cheeses, meats and salads. Then the one entre dinner that you ordered is delivered to you. The food is really good. The dessert is brought to the table as a trio for the whole table to share.

The photo with Belle is included, it's a great deal and both DS and DD love all the princesses. They do a little princess parade around the dining room that they invite all the kids to walk in with them.

The most important advice to give you here is this: Be prepared to wait a very long time to be seated. My husband and I went here on our last night of our honeymoon and we waited more than an hour past our ADR time before we were called in to have photos taken with Belle.

Here's our experience:
There was no princess parade when we were there (but that might just have been our night) and personally, we found the food inedible. My family used to eat here when it was a smorgasbord with no princesses and the food was incredible. My husband had the pork tenderloin which was really dry and strangely sweet (not in a good way) and I had the herb-dusted beef tips, which were horribly tough and tasted of pine needles (too much rosemary I suspect.)

There is a buffet at the beginning of your meal for appetizers but it's mostly cold salads, cold cuts and cheeses. There wasn't anything particularly new or different for us. Dessert is a sampler platter brought for the table to share family style of chocolate mousse (very good), a puff pastry with mascarpone mousse and berries (not bad) and strawberry rice cream (did not like the texture of this at all)

The princess interaction was nice. We saw Snow White, Aurora, Ariel and Cinderella (and Belle at the door), but I would suggest to anyone wanting to do a princess meal to go to Cinderella's in the castle. The food was 100 times better and the interaction was great. Plus, you're in the castle! Or go here for breakfast, which is a much, much better meal (we've done it a couple times with great success.)

Our experience could not have been different. We got sat within 10 minutes the first time and early the second time. Our food was really tasty and I enjoyed the pork and I am picky with it. The Princess parade both times was so cute and DD LOVED it. All the Princesses were great with both kids and we love it there. DD has already requested to go back next time!

We also had the opposite experience! My daughter loved the Princess interaction and we thought the food was great. They didn't have the parade when we were there.

Next, you will be seated and greeted by your server who will take your drink and main course order and prompt you to help yourself to the Taste of Norway buffet. When we were there, they had an assortment of cheeses, meats, and smoked fish.

Make sure to be quick and pay close attention to where the princesses are in the restaurant so you wont miss them and have to wait for the next rotation.

My daughter really enjoyed this restaurant and I personally think it's a much better option then Cinderella's Royal Table.

I've never heard of the photo being done with a princess other than Belle.

We've been twice 9/2010 (lunch) and 11/2011 (breakfast). Yes, it does seem that there was a wait to get in both times. This didn't surprise me so much for the lunch ressie but we had the very first breakfast ressie time and still had to wait.

Having said that, I love akershus. We enjoyed the food both entrees and cold bar. The cold bar does have lox on it but otherwise its fairly standard salads and cheeses, etc. The princess interaction is brief but pleasant. They did the parade both times we were there but the first time my little one was only 2.5 so she didn't join in. The second time she was almost 4 and LOVED it! The pic is included in the price.

If I was only going to pic one princess meal I'd choose CRT because I love the castle but we like akershus and have a dinner ressie there in sept.

One more thing, we actually don't really worry about eating too much until after the princesses have made their rounds. It seems they do this pretty quickly after you're seated. After the princesses have moved on we then relax and eat. Most people are in a hurry to get back out there but not us.
