Akershus - any info would be great

I am debating on where to book for our trip to Epcot for dinner. I want a character meal and need to make sure that my hubby will enjoy the food - he is rather picky and not a big fan of trying new things.

I have character meals booked at various restaurants and was hoping to get a dinner with the princesses without doing the Cinderella Castle ( been there before).

I need to know if Akershus is worth going to and how the food is? I can't seem to find the menu there, but is says "Norwegian" food and I am not sure what that is - I am worried by DH won't eat anything.

Any feedback and advice would be appreciated. Thank you much.

Allearsnet.com has the menus. Just go to dining, then click on menus. We went last August for lunch. The food wasn't that good, but the princesses were great. They took their time with the kids, and were really patient while we took pictures. We had Belle (she was the greeter), Cinderella, Snow White, Aurora and Alice in Wonderland. Have a great time in DW!!

We went for breakfast on Christmas morning and it was awesome!!!! Our favorite character meal of the entire trip! We are breakfast people and loved the hot food served family style (eggs, bacon, sausage and potatoes) and there was also a cold bar with fruits, breads cheese, etc. The princesses were awesome too --we met Belle in her red velvet dress, Cinderella, Jasmine, Mulan and Aurora (they spent a few minutes with us at the table). We are planning on going again on our next trip

i would only do breakfast, we have done all 3 and the food is not good at all. the characters are the best!

We did the dinner recently and it was the worst meal of our trip...and we were on the deluxe plan so we ate at a lot of places

The food was icky... the princesses were rude and the fish on the salad bar was cold and hard... lots of smoked fish and just icky foods

we headed to Epcot for the Norway princess dinner. I was not impressed with this place AT ALL! The cold table is a salad bar ... even though they call it buffet. You still order an entree and are welcomed to the cold table (AKA salad bar) before your meal.
I ordered the lamb, the guys ordered chicken and DD ordered the childrens pizza. The lamb was good but a little salty. The chicken was not edible.
It looked yummy but was really tough and yicky tasting.
The princess came out one after the other and spent a grand total of 15 seconds at our table. My DD was a bit disapointed that they didn't even speak to her more than to say hi. They signed her book, took a quick pic and off they left without saying good bye. I found the princesses to be very rude.
Luckily this was a rare exception as most of the places we ate were really good!

Things I liked about the princess dinner:

the cold table should offer more options, lots of cold dried out fish EWWW

Now for the good places to eat at Epcot
Les Ceillers is the best place in Epcot to eat IMO ... LOVED THE FOOD
Rose and crown was another great place if you can do your homework and find out when Illuminations is set to go off. Get your ADR for an hour before the fireworks and you have front row sitting view of the fireworks while munching on dessert and coffee
Another good place for a character meal is Garden Grill. You get Mickey and the munks! The place is pretty and one of the more quiet character meals ...not total chaos.

We had lunch in October at Akershus. It was really enjoyable. The princesses' interactions were great. We had 4 adults and two children (4 1/2 and 1) in the party and the kids loved seeing the princesses up close.

As far as the food, the cold board has enough food on it to make a meal. I had the kottj....ker-- a huge meatball thingie for my main course and it was good. Everyone had something different and all enjoyed themselves.

The service was friendly with quick drink refills and attention to the children's needs. We'll do it again for sure

The only problem we had was when we went to check in for our ADR the computer system had crashed. The poor lady at the podoum was beside herself!! It took a little while to sort out that problem, but that certainly wasn't a reflection on the restaurant experience.

We have only done the breakfast and it is pretty good. Nothing to write home about, although the cinnamon rolls are tasty. We go for the princesses and we stay until we've see all the princesses. That usually is enough time to fill our bellies before a long day at the parks.

Instead, I booked a dinner w/ Cinderella and friends at 1900 Park Fare in the Grand Floriian. It's reachable by monorail from Epcot, and I think the menu will appeal more to my picky eaters.

we went in August for dinner and found it very enjoyable. There is a cold cut and salad buffet...just appetizers but very filling. The menu is good, and they will modify anything for you that you ask. But I doubt your hubby would have a problem with braised beef ribs,,,which is what my boyfriend had and thoroughly enjoyed them. The princesses were delightful and the service was great. Enjoy!

I feel like I need to chime in here-this is our favorite place to eat in WDW! The food is good (the kjottkaker is really good) but the tastes are a bit different from what you are probably used to. Go with an open mind and you'll love it!

Breakfast is your best bet there. If you can, book an early reservation and you can get in before the park opens. This allows for some great picture opp's. The breakfast food is typical american fare, my girls liked this breakfast better than lunch at the castle.

This was one of our most enjoyable experiences. My dbf and I ate here, had the best waitress and the desserts were our favorites. I had the salmon and he had the stew.

We went in January, and I really enjoyed the food. I'm not a hugely adventurous eater, and so I checked the reviews before I ordered anything. I got the Kjottkaker, which is basically a cross between a big meat ball and Salisbury steak. I can't remember what DH got, but he's even less adventurous than I am. i asked him afterwards if he liked it and said it was pretty good. I know FIL got the Venison stew, someone at the table got the Pasta akershus, and at least one person got the Salmon. No real complaints from any of the 9 of us who went. plus, we got to meet Belle in her yellow dress (greeter), Jasmine, Aurora, Ariel (with legs), and Cinderella.
