AK Rainforest Cafe questions

We are only doing AK one day, and will be eating dinner at Boma after park closing. I made a lunch reservation for 10:45 at Rainforest Cafe. We've never done a sit down lunch in the parks, does it take up too much time? If I remember correctly, AK was one of our slower paced days, so I figured it would be the best park to do lunch.

Also, can anyone confirm that Rainforest Cafe is on the DDP? And that lunch starts at 10:15? I've found conflicting information on this. Thank you in advance!

It's on the Dining plan and the disney website lists lunch starting at 10:15.

As far as how much time it takes plan on 60-90 minutes. It really depends on how long you have to wait to be seated and how quick the service is. That early though I'm going to guess both should be fairly quick.

We always do Rainforest Cafe lunch on our AK day and really enjoy it. Plan for an hour at the most.

You have a good time planned for lunch, your in and out within an hourish depending on how fast you eat. We do that time every year we come down, works great. DDP and this is one of the restaurants that will let you split a meal on the DDP, if that's something you are interested in.

Just in case you don't know, there is an entrance for Rainforest inside DAK-you don't have to leave the Park and go to the main entrance.

Just as you exit The Oasis, turn left and go down the walkway there and you will come to Rainforest.

There is a Mickey Reader there you can use to "exit" and "re-enter" DAK.:)

Keep in mind that RFC is all the way in the front of AK, so getting there from just about anywhere inside the park can be a long walk, plus the long walk back to where you left off. Take that into consideration when you also factor in the 60 or so minutes it takes to eat. While there is nothing wrong with RFC in general, the location is just awful and ends up eating into more time (and is a lot more tiring) then it is worth, IMO.

I was going to mention the distance as well. We normally only do RFC after a day spent at AK as we are leaving the park because it is a little bit of a pain to walk all the way there and back into the park mid-day. Personally, I'd eat at a QS location or Tusker House for lunch, but if you really want RFC just factor in that extra time.

Hmmm definitely something to think about. Actually, our reasoning for doing lunch, is that we are on DDP, and the day we check in we'll be arriving very late at night. So we will have that extra TS meal. We've never done TS meals for lunch, only dinner, but I figured DHS and AK were a little slower days than MK and Epcot. But, I don't like any of the TS restaurants in DHS. DF and I both really like Rainforest Cafe, so I figured I would try to make it work. :goodvibes

We eat there every trip. Good options that our kids like, good food and a nice break. More reasonable reeasonableprices too.

We ate there for lunch last year on our AK and it was somewhat of a hike up to the restaurant, but once we were seated, the lunch was a pretty quick meal. The day we were there, there were TONS of servers, food runners, etc, so it moved like clockwork.

For some reason whenever we at at that Rainforest Cafe we always have a bit of a wait before we are seated. Usually around 20-30 minutes past our ADR time. Just something to be aware of.

We enjoyed it. Don't make our mistake of riding Kali River Rapids before lunch. We were freezing. :)
