AK - Nemo Show questions -- Tusker House pkg

My DS has sensory integration issues -- the one that is the biggest issue touring the parks involves crowds. Stationary crowds like lines to be exact. After a meltdown that took over an hour to calm down from last Oct, he was given a GAC to use his stroller as a wheelchair so he could stay in it in line and be able to pull the sunshade/hood all the way down to block out the people. (he also go the stamp for alternate entry when possible to just flat out avoid the crowds).

I would really like to take him to see the Nemo show, but the large crowd that forms to wait in line an hour + before the show would be too much for him.

Would the GAC help us in this situation? Is there an alternate entrance that doesn't require as long of a wait in a crowd? Or???

Second part to the same question... we could look at doing the Tusker House lunch that gives you the reserved seating pass. I know that you are supposed to be there half an hour before the show and you go in the back entrance. BUT would there still be a large crowd that he would be stuck in for more than a few minutes?
We already have all our table service meals planned and all the counter service meals to use up, so we'd end up having to pay for the TH TS meal OOP if we did this. While that isn't on the top of my list (to spend more money...LOL) we would do it if it is the only way for DS to see the show.

We will be there between Feb 27 - Mar 7, so it should be lower crowd levels, but we want to have a plan in place in case it is busy.

Thanks for any help you can give!

I am not going to say with certainy you can't use the GAC card for Nemo, we didn't do that show. BUT if you can keep him in his stroller, I am sure they would have wheelchair seating, and that may help!

Sorry I can't be more helpful! I do think you are probably right when you say it won't be to busy that time of year, so that will be helpful!

I know that this subject has been discussed before long ago but do not remember the comments. Maybe when Sue is back online she can respond to you and I am so sorry for nobody replying. I read this but I will only post what I know. I will go into the posts and see what I can find but not sure.

There is the "Finding Nemo" show that replaced Tarzan at Animal Kingdom. The GAC should be able to help you avoid the waiting in line for the show. Alternate would be for Dad to wait in line while you walk around with the kid then have dad stake out some seats.

Crowds depend on time of day. events like conventions, seasons, and more. You would be able to use the stroller as a wheelchair in the line for the show thus reducing the impact of the line. Someone may have a better answer and probably will.

The Nemo show at AK does have wheelchair seating and you will be able to keep him in his stroller and use the wheelchair seating. Being able to stay in the wheelchair in line should be very helpful to you. There is not really an alternate entrance to the theater or an alternate place to wait that I could see. There was a family with a child not in a stroller who had a GAC that followed the same route/procedure as we did.

We expected to have to wait in a long line when we went in October, but these are pictures of the line from the day we went.

I would suggest you stay to either the inside of the line (along the vegetation) or the outside (along the rope) with the stroller. That way there won't be anyone beside you on one side. The line was not tightly packed, so people were keeping their distance between parties when we went.

There were a number of families with strollers who had part of their party wait in line and had someone wait with the stroller until just before they reached the next picture. You could probably do the same, although I would suggest showing the CM at the queue entrance your child's GAC and asking to do that or if there is a place to wait outside of the line.

At this point, the CM under the umbrella saw us and opened the chain on the left side of the picture so that we were able to go into the area. From that point on, we had very few people with us - about 6 other wheelchair parties and a party wit a child with a GAC, but without a stroller or wheelchair.
We went into the theater after a short wait and we were in before they started letting in the rest of the guests. There is wheelchair seating in the back row of the theater, with plenty of space for the rest of your party to sit next to the stroller. There is an aisle between that row and a steep stadium seating area at the very back of the theater. CMs keep people moving while the theater is filling and during the show no one is allowed to stand directly behind the wheelchair row.
There is also some wheelchair seating in the middle of the theater, as well as a few spaces right in the front. The majority of the seating is in the back though.
After the show ends, hang bacl and let the majority of the guests leave before you start on your way out. THat way, you won't be in a crowd leaving.

IAlternate would be for Dad to wait in line while you walk around with the kid then have dad stake out some seats.
You will all need to be together when you get to the point of the last picture in my post.

Sue - thank you so much for the details and pictures!
You lucked out! When we were there in Oct the line was massive! (so we just kept on walking and didn't even try to stop for the show)
