We stayed at AK Kidani last October and found it quite peaceful after a long day in the park. There seems to be something about being there, not quite sure what it is, that brings down the sensory overload of all the theme parks. We never found it a problem with the buses as far as distance, only overcrowding going to and from Downtown Disney. Would go back again if there was a discount I could get in on.

just back from my honeymoon stay at AKL-Jambo House. i would definitely recommend it as a place to stay. as others have said, it is serene and peaceful to just sit out and watch the animals after a long day in the parks. it is a little remote but that's what makes it great, IMO. the bus ride from AKL to MK is about 20-25 minutes which is the longest. the shortest ride is from AKL to AK which was about 5-7 minutes. the ambience of the resort is fantastic; the African decor is prevalent throughout which means there is not a lot of bright lights. there are a lot of dark woods and dimmer lighting to give that look and feel. i actually overheard some people complaining at 1 point how dark it was and that they didn't like it. so just something to consider and have in mind. the food options are great; just give yourself plenty of time if you don't have reservations as wait times were on the longer side. there were also loads of activities for adults and kids that changed daily.

one thing i do have to recommend is to do the night-time safari. it is a bit costly per person but the experience is awesome! only guests who stay at AKL have access to this and it is limited to about 10 or so people per outing. you are given a nightvision scope that allows you to really see the animals upclose as you are driving through 1 of the savannahs at AKL in an open-air truck. the guides are very knowledgeable and really informative and fun to talk with. they have a pure passion for what they do and it shows in how they converse. it was the perfect way to end our Disney trip!

I love the tranquil atmosphere at AKL. I love the dining. I love the pools. I find the bus transportation to be good. The rooms are comfortable. The animals are fun to watch. The CM's are among the best on property. The theming is magnificent.

Even when we don't stay at this resort, we visit for dining at least. It is simply great!
