I need to know if I will be able to afford my birthday trip this year and a lot is riding on the cost of airfare. Anyone have an idea of when AirTran will open up October's schedule?

Right now, Delta and Continental are about $250 out of my airport, but the flights are insanely early (6am and 8am!) and they have stops. AirTran typically has at least one non-stop per day and I am hoping that they will be at or below $200.

Normally, they post flight about 6 months out. That would mean about May you should see flights listed. BUT, with SouthWest taking AirTran over sometime this year, it hard to say whats going to happen to their normal flights.

We are also looking at a trip in Oct, had to cancel our Jan trip due to a family illness.

Last year they released flights up through just before Thanksgiving around March 1st (that is when we booked a 11/20 flight). My thought is that is when they release the next batch of dates. They usually start to load expensive fares and then over the course of a week they release the discounted coach fares.

The didn't release fares for after Thanksgiving until around April 30th.
