We are thinking of trying AirTran out of Minneapolis for the first time in Nov/Dec. The flights we want to book are nonstop, however with all the posts of schedule changes it makes me a little worried. What are your expeniences with AirTran out of MSP? Do they consolidate/change flights very often?

The other alternative is to book nonstop NWA, but the ticket price is about $80/ticket more. We already have to drive 5 hours to the airport so we like to fly nonstop if possible.

I always fly AirTran out of MSP. Will the flight times change? Possibly but not likely at this time. I am flying them in November and they have already changed the winter nonstops to different times. There is just the one nonstop to and from MCO each day to and from MSP. So even if the time does change, it should still be nonstop.

If you are concerned about the possibility of the flight time changing, you could always look in to flying on Sun Country also. I have never flown with them but they also offer a nonstop to Orlando. Good luck with your decision:goodvibes

I have flown Airtran 3 times to/from MSP.

Every flight has been the non-stop flight for that day. The non-stop has never been cancelled in my experience, though the times have changed every time... some times multiple changes. I always expect times to change no matter what airline I fly.

Keep in mind that the planes need to be at their destination for the next group of passengers, so they are not going to "skip" a flight because it doesn't appear to be full.... also keep in mind, that most flights are full these days..

Also, the HHH Terminal is really nice..... or, excuse me, it is now called Terminal 2.

Well, it's almost October. If you are flying Nov/Dec, my gutfeel is that the flight times you see are probably what they will be when you fly.

Could minor tweaks happen? Sure.

But a major change...like the nonstop moving from a 9am departure to a 2pm departure...that I think is more on the unlikely side at this stage of the game for your travel times.

duds is right...the nonstop is a staple. But it's pretty popular, too. So if you want that flight, I'd make decisions sooner rather than later.

I've never flown AirTran but have flown Sun Country many times nonstop from MSP to MCO. Love the morning departure from Humphrey Terminal (and it will always be Humphrey for me no matter what.....) which is a total treat compared to Lindbergh Terminal.

I have flown AirTran a few times from MSP, and will be again in 13 days. My October flights for this year changed many many more times than they ever have before. It was nuts. That said, the non stop flights were never cancelled, and they have not changed at all in the last 6 weeks or so. I would think you should be good now for November. Like posted above one of the best parts of flying Air Tran is flying out the smaller terminal!!! I love that terminal (unless you need a meal), it's so small and easy/quick to navigate.

(unless you need a meal)

This is the one knock I have on the Humphrey terminal. 1 restaurant called Fletchers Wharf. It is high priced and the portions are small, IMO.

There is also a grab and go type place with wrapped sandwiches, but those have never interested me. The only other shop is a small Hudson News type store with mags and snacks. That is it past security. There is a Starbucks near baggage claim, but you can't bring that drink past security.

I actually like the main terminal. It is large, but there are tons of options to eat. Obviously, you have to plan a little more time, but MSP as a whole is an awesome airport!
