Do you think now that AirTran and Southwest are merged that AirTran is going to do away with the $75 change fee, or do you think Southwest is going to adopt this fee? I have an AirTran reservation for August that I might need to change the dates on due to school starting at a different date, and wondering if this is going to be a future change? I hate that $75 fee especially when the flight was only $100! So much for saving money!:rolleyes2

imo, no, it's part of SWA's long-time business model

that said, everything is subject to change;)but they'd announce any changes to be perfectly clear.

Southwest already said they're going to use Southwest polices; open seating, no change fee and 2 free checked bags. Those policies are subject to change.

I'd be extremely surprised if any changes would apply to passengers who already purchased tickets. Your ticket was priced assuming revenue from change fees. You bought a ticket with a $75 change fee, that's unlikely to change.

However, they didn't say "our policies will never change" and gradually they are changing....

Ye it will apply to existing Airtran tickets if the ticket is purchased on the Airtran web site then a fee will be charged.

but not on SWA flights operated by AT woohoo necessary if the AT flight times continue to change as often as they did in the past.

fyi, flights i have booked on AT for May have changed 3 times since i booked them last schedule release with one flight disappearing completely. Not a big deal since even booking with rewards was able to pick a better flight and extend trip!

Will be interesting to see if SWA tightens up the ship and AT start's improving adhering to their scheduled flights.

Just curious because the SWA flights are showing up as available flights on the airtran website, however, the airtran flights don't show on the SWA search? So if someone booked a roundtrip on airtran and selected 2 SWA segments, its not changeable, or is it? :scratchin
