Airport Hyatt Routine

We were thinking of doing the Hyatt with transfers.
For those using the Hyatt transfers to the cruise port, how do you get back to the airport on the other end of the cruise?

You mean the same Hyatt we are talking about here? The transfers are from the airport, which is what the Hyatt regency MCO is part of. So going back you can book the same dcl bus back to the airport, or do whatever you want. (Rental car, limo, towncar, etc)

Anyone a little nervous that the bags might not get picked up? I suppose we could schlep them to the bus?

I'm always nervous that they won't be picked up and nervous that somehow they won't get onto the ship even if they get picked up even though it's never been a problem. We stayed at the MCO Hyatt last December but ended up being picked up by friends instead of taking DCL transfers. Just as they picked us up at the front of the hotel, we saw the truck with all of the luggage being loaded and it was a full truckload. I'd say that they are quite accustomed to the practice and have got it all down to a fine-tuned routine.

We've even had the luggage transfers done twice in Barcelona and once in London and it's all worked out just fine. Each time, we were told that luggage would be picked up between 8-8:30 and it was picked up right on time. If they can do it in hotels where they only do it a few times a season, I imagine that they are very good at doing it several times a week from the MCO Hyatt.

As some posters have mentioned, when upon the rare occasion that they are missed (and that may have been before they refined their routines) they undertook the responsibility to get it there within a short period of time. I always put at least one change of clothes, bathing suit, meds and anything that I might want that day into my carry on in case we don't get our luggage or even just in case it comes to the stateroom late. So if you're really worried, put some extra items in your carry on. You can, of course, take the luggage down, but really it's a pain and part of the benefit of staying there is to have someone else schlep for you. I know I'm going to have to schlep it out through customs and through the airport when I leave so anytime that I can avoid it before then, I'm going to take advantage of it.

Loved the Hyatt! So annoyed we have to do DW this time around instead before our cruise... we're actually taking an uber from DW to MCO to get on the MCO bus because we loved departing on the early bus. The guy at the Hyatt came in our room around 8:30 to pick up our bags and we didn't see them again until they were outside our stateroom.

The transfer from MCO, as well as from WDW resorts is supplied by DCL. The Hyatt and DCL have an agreement as to the luggage transfers (from hotel to DCL truck), but it's DCL that transports the bags from MCO to port.

The Hyatt is in the airport so that may cause the confusion. The DCL/Magical Express desk is located in the airport as well.

If you stay at the Hyatt, you are actually using DCL transfers (Hyatt doesn't have transfers). So we usually just book roundtrip transfers with DCL - get to go from the Hyatt to the port with the luggage all taken care of and then get to take advantage of On Board Airline Check-In after the cruise (we always fly with a participating airline) so no luggage handling on that end either!

Not Magical Express, the transfers are via DCL transfers. The buses to MCO start running when the ship is cleared for debarkation. As they fill up, they depart. The trip takes about an hour.

As your flight is after the "must be no earlier than 11:30" line that Disney has drawn, you're fine with an 11:55 flight.

You can take the DCL transfer whenever you like. Arriving via DCL transfers to the port, you will be allowed to enter, regardless of what your Port Arrival Time is. That said, the boarding number you get when you check in at the port is tied to your selected PAT, and you will get the same number, regardless if you check in an hour earlier, or 2 hours later than your PAT.

The port arrival time is not your boarding time. Boarding is done in group numbers. The numbers are assigned based on your given port arrival time.

If you're assigned 12:30 you will surely be allowed in the port and at that time most likely boarding will have been open for 45 mins to an hour, so you'll most likely be able to walk right on.

If you arrive ahead of the assigned arrival time and boarding hasn't started you'll be given your group number and board when they call your group.

It's not quite that direct, but you will be given a boarding group # that fits with your PAT. Last year we took the transfer over and were on the first bus. We were the 2nd or 3rd family to get checked in but were put in boarding group 6. Once they start calling numbers it goes pretty quickly.

With every cruise we've taken we stayed at the Hyatt. It's so simple! I will never stay anywhere else when leaving from Port Canaveral.
