Need to book an airport hotel for one night fro relatives coming in the day before the cruise. Need something cheap but decent and not too boring. Shuttle to and from airport (free!, O.K.).

I highly recommend booking via Hotwire or Orbitz, where I am usually able to get an MCO hotel with free shuttle (and often free breakfast) for $28 to $33 before service charge.
Via Hotwire, we tend to get the Amerisuites (they don't give you the name till you book, but you can tell because it is the one with suite amenities that costs in the $30 range). From Priceline we have gotten LaQuinta and the Renaissance. They have always been decent places so far, and the free shuttle is great...we fly in the night before our cruise, take the shuttle, walk somewhere for dinner (there are usually plenty of restaurants around the hotels), and then take Happy Limo to the port in the morning. It's nice to be well rested for the cruise...sure beats setting out at 3 a.m. the morning of the cruise in Chicago.

Barb-we need to stay near airport on sat night after 7 day. Will try priceline -but our flight leaves at 6am-do any of the hotel shuttles run at 4 am?

Some are 24 hour, but others end at a certain time (I think the Amerisuites ends at 11 and I'm not sure when they restart). A second option is to bid a little lower on Priceline and, if you get it, use the difference to pay for a cab. With Priceline, we're never 100 percent sure that we'll get a shuttle (although we always have), so we bid low enough that we won't be upset if we have to pay for the transit.

We also have a very early flight out Sun am after a 7 day cruise. Because we have two young children, I thought of staying at the Hyatt since it is right in the airport. I went to the hotline site - but is it at all possible to somehow be sure that I am booking the Hyatt (to avoid needing a shuttle or cab that early)

We are staying at the Sheraton and it has free shuttle. I had checked their website and called (I still like speaking to a person when making ressies) and I was able to get a one bedroom suite for 69.00$ per night.
