This will be my first time flying with an infant and was planning on changing his diaper just before getting on the plane but was wondering if there is some way to change on the plane if needed? Thank you.

When my oldest daughter was 1 she decided she wanted to take 30,000 foot poop.
Changing a child in an airplane bathroom is a bit hard to do but it can be done. If I remember correctly, there wasn't a changing table in the bathroom (U.S. Airways).

Good luck!!

Suggestion #1 -- Use the closed toilet seat lid as a changing table. Let your own body protrude out the open door.

Suggestion #2 -- Use a blanket on the floor just inside one of the plane doors (just to take advantage of a large flat area).

Please don't change the diaper on your seat. Seashore CM gave you the best options, either in the lav (most do have a changing table these days) or by one of teh doors--but not if that door is in the galley!

Bring along a ziplock to dispose of the diaper in.

No experience here... but if the need arises, you could always ask a flight attendant what they suggest. I am sure they see it all the time and know what works the best.

My kid pooped about 10 minutes from landing, so we waited. But I was on a flight when someone changed a diaper on the seat. I can tell you that once the mother opened the diaper, the whole plane stunk. It was awful. That's why I waited with my son.
I realize that you can't always wait to change them, so I would also suggest asking the stewardess.

here's what i do:

hand baby to dh :teeth: . he's the family expert on diaper changing on Southwest planes (no changing table). he does use the toilet seat, i don't know how...but he does it.

You could hand the baby to DH and pretend that you are just some stranger who got stuck sitting next to them.

We will be flying Spirit. Anyone flown recently with them know if they have changing tables? Thanks.

I think that most aiprlane bathrooms do, you just sort of have to look for it, it isn't that obvious. Many of the forward bathrooms have them that come down "long ways" rather than "sideways," if that makes any sense, so at first glance you may not notice it.

Here's a tip. I saw a "joke" internet site one time about changing diapers on the plane, and one of the things it suggested was to unfold the diaper before hand, so it is ready to go, then put it on top of your head. Well, I knew to have the diaper open and ready, but the first time I changed on a plane I realized that I had no idea where to put that open diaper, and I put it on my head. Those bathrooms are smal and the table is small, and with it down there is no place to put it. Actually, it works great. I know it sounds stupid. My child just laughed and laughed and that made everything easier, and it was at an easy place to get when the time came. So I now recommend the top of head head diaper store method.

I have a sister in Washington state, so I have lots of experience from those five hour flights!

Never flown Spirit, but I've flown Southwest and Continental. Neither had changing tables. I've used the closed toilet with my changing pad on top. I was able to do this with the door closed. It's a bit of a juggle but possible. Definitely bring ziplocs or plastic bags to put the dirty diaper in (as pp stated). With a toddler I just change them while they are standing up on the closed toilet seat.

Good Luck and here's some pd :wizard: to wish away any poops while in flight! :rotfl:

Here's my tip as a seasoned mother of 4...pack a few "poop packs" in the diaper bag. In a large ziploc bag pack 1 diaper, small pack of wipes, disposible diaper bag (Sassy makes nice ones), Individual pack of Purell (just in case). The Ziploc bag can be used to handle wet or "muddy" clothes if needs be. Grab and go when you need to do a change. I also use the First Years travel diaper pad, unfold and put on the closed toliet seat, it hooks onto the stroller which makes it really easy for a change. Good luck!
