im travelling on a 91/2 hour flight and my son hates airline food (dont we all) especially on a charter anyway he wants me to make him sandwiches or a mcdonalds and ask them to heat that on the plane ..lol as if.. anyway has anyone done this and how did it go? im travelling from glasgow on air2000 or my travel (probably the same) so any info would help ps he's 12 & a friend 13 and neither like the kids meals they offer either thanks in advance.

I haven't taken sandwiches, but I have taken bags of cheese crackers and juice bags. The airline didn't give me any trouble at all.

I think it might be asking a lot though to expect them to heat the sandwiches for you. Maybe just pack something that doesn't have to be heated.

Have a great trip!

I've brought fast food (Burger King, deli sandwiches, soda, etc.) on board with me many times. I've never asked to reheat anything, but that doesn't mean they wouldn't. I'd take something which he'd like hot or cold or call the airline and ask before you go.

I pack one of those small collapsable coolers that looks like a purse...holds a six pack I think. I load it with sliced pepperoni, cheese, crackers (In a ziploc), and even shrimp cocktail (buy the frozen at costco...by the time you're hungry on board it is ready to go!) and one of those plastic containers with a lid (like the ones you's get soy sauce in at a chinese place) for cocktail sauce. This with a few 20 oz bottles of soda...and we're set. My husband and I have a picnic...give the airline snacks to someone near us and feast. We always get one of two people stupified, a couple of envious souls, and a few that comment what a great idea it is.

When I arrive, I wash out the cooler. We usually get a hoagie for the flight back...

Good luck!
