We are traveling from Chicago in June and I am just wondering what would be considered a "good" price for Southwest. There are 9 of us flying, so the airfare is adding up quickly. I haven't flown inso long that I have no clue!!
Thanks!

Go to a place like kayak.com and it will show you rates for several airlines. Then compare those rates with southwest. if you call the airline and have more than ___ (I can't remember if the number is around 6, but I think it is) they sometimes give discounts...especially if you are flying on slow days.

You are talking about group rates, which require 10 or more people. Not always the best discounts and OP doesn't have enough people. OP wants to fly WN, so no need to search fares for other airlines.

I'm flying from Milwaukee and we looked and looked for flights from both Milwaukee and Chicago in Nov and Dec. The least expensive I saw during that time was $275 round trip pp. But those were for some pretty crummy times (leaving 4am stuff like that). Also I was only focused on looking the 3rd week of April since that is when we are going. It would depend partially on when you are flying, but if you can get in the upper 200s I think you are getting a good deal.

We ended up paying around $300 round trip pp out of Milwaukee with better times, but only got that price because we booked in a package through expedia.

Try using airfarewatchdog.com they can give you some good status on fare prices.

Keep watching the fares on SWA try checking daily at what the fares are doing. Plus they usually have a sale in April.

They definantly have a sale every year in June but it will be too late for you.

Also might be worth it to apply for the SWA credit card. You will be awared 50,000 after your first purchase which can help defer the cost.

Thanks for the info! It has been so long since we have flown that I have no idea what a "good price" actually is. I flew regularly before I was married with kids and was way too used to the days of $59/each way. Right now the cheapest I am seeing anywhere is about 350-400/RT. I would love to get it closer to $250-300. Am I being unrealistic?

I haven't been to WDW in five years, but I was used to paying about $200 rt from Chicago. I know that prices have gone up, but I don't think it would be unrealistic to be able pay $250-300.

Not exactly how it works. You have the spend $2000 using the card within 3 months of opening it and then you get your 50000 miles.

Jenn look at SWA today. They are having a good sale that must be booked by tomorrow.

Thanks for the info! I checked it out- the sales ends on the day we are leaving for Florida. I was going to book our travel for it but the are no cheap flights that day!! URGH but at least now I know how low SW will go on the airfare for that route!! Thanks everyone!
