Ain't Nobody Got Time For That, Well We Got Time To Eat -Sci Fi! - 12/30

Garden Grill

We arrived early, but the very nice lady at the check in desk said they should be able to squeeze use in shortly! We waited in the waiting area with all LOTS of other families. I was very surprised, because I didn’t see this as a super popular place to eat!

We were taken to our seat on the upper level, and given menus.

This was our view as we were seated. Because the restaurant turns through the living with the land ride we were able to see several of the scenes as we dined!

Josh was very excited for this dinner, it was his request! He is a big meat and potatoes type of guy!

As we got our drinks we were headed out of the rain forest and into the dessert!

Our server Cory was beyond fantastic. From the start of the meal to the check he was fantastic. He explained that some of our salad greens were grown right there in the green house!

I have to say this was one of my favorite things in the meal. I am not normally a fan of the salad being dressed when it arrives at the table, but this wasn’t overdressed, and the dressing was very yummy, so it wasn’t a problem at all!

With our salad we enjoyed really yummy rolls with honey butter! These are not the normal rolls you get around the parks, they are much yummier!

As our meal progressed, we continued to turn….

Once we were done with that amazing salad, Cory brought us the main course, and explained if we wanted more of anything just to let him know!

“Roasted All Natural Turkey Breast with Lemon Caper Sauce and Artisan Bread Pudding”

This was delicious. The turkey was juicy, the stuffing well seasoned, and it went so well together! We ended up asking for a bit more stuffing and turkey!

“Sustainable Fish of the Day with Roasted Tomato and Pepper Compote with Garden Fresh Vegetables”

Josh liked the fish! I am not a fish eater, but I took a nibble. He says the beef and the turkey were better, but the seasoning was interesting! I did eat the veggies under the fish (they didn’t taste fishy!) and they were very good. They were fresh and not over cooked!

“Char-grilled Filet of Beef with Red Wine Butter and Buttermilk Smashed Potatoes”

This was a real winner. We ended up asking for more of the steak! It was cooked perfectly, and was really well seasoned. The buttermilk potatoes were super yummy as well.

Of course we were still turning as our dinner came…

As we enjoyed the amazing food, and view, a few friends stopped by!

And this whole time, we kept turning… I loved that you could see in the window of the house!

After eating more than our fair share of the amazing food above, this delicious treat appeared.

“Fresh Baked Harvest Fruit Cobbler with Vanilla Bean Whipped Cream”
YUM YUM it was so tasty, and with the ice cream and the filling it was just amazing. I would order this as my dessert in a restaurant in a heartbeat!
I was surprised they don’t have an oven mitt for the handle (like they do at Chilli’s) instead they used a wad of napkins?

This was a GREAT meal, the service was outstanding (I went to guest relations and filled out a card) and the food was great. I loved the characters as well, way less pressure than any other character meal I have ever been to!

I noticed that this meal is a lot like the meal served at Liberty Tree. How was the fish? It looks delicious. :thumbsup2

Because of your Garden Grill review I just made a ressie for our October trip!! Thanks a bunch :)

We've dined at GG a couple of times before, but not in a few years; I think I may add it to our Sept 2014 trip! They only serve dinner now, is that right? It's good to know that the food is as good as the last time we were there. :)

P.S. Were there mushrooms in the red wine sauce on filet? Last time there was, and I hate them, and our server was so nice, she brought me extra sauce on the side that she had picked the mushrooms out of herself! lol

It was fairly close to the LLT, but different at the same time. the salad was WAY better. I am not a big fan of fish but Josh said it was pretty good.

:cool1: Ok I feel like a cool kid now! You will be glad you did!

As far as I knew it is only dinner. I was impressed with the whole experience! I am not sure on the mushrooms, I don't remember big pieces, but I like them, so it wouldn't have stood out to me!

We've never eaten at GG, but I think we'll add it next time! AND... I am pretty sure they use napkins because the disney kleptos probably kept stealing the oven mitts. lol

It's worth a try, I have a feeling we will be back soon! I wouldn't be surprised if people stole the little mitts, I have seen crazier things!:rotfl2:

The Mara

Ahead of time, I want to apologize for the photos, I took my phone but not the camera, so they are kinda bad.

Josh chose a coffee cake

Josh thought this was great, he loved that it was pretty much just a mini loaf.

And I got the kid’s breakfast platter.

I am not a fan of scrambled eggs. I am not sure why I even got this… It was good food, just not for me! I will stick to my Mickey waffles in the future.
We both used our mugs to get coffee.
Not the best breakfast at the Mara, but it was still great!

I didn't know that Garden Grill was a character meal!!!! I guess I must have overlooked it as there are so many great places to eat in Epcot. I will put that on my maybe list... but the characters are a definitely plus!!! I've never been through living on the land either. We are looking to take a two week trip next year... and eating in our room for one or two meals each day to help with the cost... it's going to kill us!! We love Disney Food!!!! But I'd rather spend two weeks there and only eat a little of their food.... I think. ;)

Really enjoying your reviews so far! :goodvibes The more I read about Garden Grill, the more I want to book an ADR there on our next trip. It looks like such a fun (and delicious!) time!

I think the boys would love this, and compared to alot of other places it is pretty reasonable.

I thought LLT's salad was gross. Way too sweet for me.

Garden Grill's is much better!

I would say go for it! Glad you are enjoying!

I think we'll add Garden Grill to our list of places to try next trip. We try to do new places every time.

I've enjoyed all your reviews but thanks for the one on the Garden Grill - it was so in depth! I am going to have to consider going there! You both looked like you had a lot of fun at WDW! :thumbsup2

YAY! I try to write and give pictures/details of what I would want to know!

We always have way too much fun!

Yak and Yeti

We checked into the Yak and Yeti right on time, and were seated before I could even finish pressing a penny! We were taken up stair and given a small table next to the stairs, which turned out to be the perfect spot! Hector, or waiter (who was FANTASTIC).

This was our view during the meal.

We were given our menus and then the hard choices began!

Neither of really knew what we wanted. And I kept toying with the idea of getting fried green beans!

I checked in on Facebook, using this photo

Decisions, decisions!

I got a “Berry Cherry Limeade - Cherry and lime juice with Sprite” to drink, because it is a special drink you can’t refills, but that was fine with me.

Josh chose a Coke (SHOCK I know)

I ended up not getting an appetizer (see I can behave!) and chose the shrimp and steak! “Shaoxing Steak and Shrimp - skirt steak, tempura-battered shrimp, jasmine rice, stir-fried vegetables, chili plum dipping sauce $25.99”

This might have been the best steak I have ever eaten. It was marinated in something that just made it super tender and FULL of flavor. The shrimp and dipping sauce were fantastic, and the rice was good too! The veggies were really a winner and I ate them all! I really can’t rave enough about this…
My notes from the note book “B's- SO GOOD – steak well seasoned shrimp perfectly cooked, veggies crisp and lots of them- extremely good”

Joshua chose the salmon “Seared Miso Salmon - miso glazed Atlantic salmon, jasmine rice, baby bok choy and shiitake mushroom stir-fry $24.99”

Josh’s meal was good to, he liked the rice and the salmon, and was happy there were mushrooms in the veggie mix!

The VERY wonderful Hector saw me with my camera and offered to take our photo! He said he loves taking people’s photos.

Yes I am sitting like a kindergartener and am slouching LOL

Josh and I both ordered a plate of heaven for dessert – “Fried Wontons - Skewers of fresh pineapple and cream cheese wontons, vanilla ice cream, honey vanilla drizzle $7.99”

If I could chose a meal to eat everyday and not get fat, that steak and shrimp with the fried wontons would be at the top of the list. AMAZING.

Yak and Yeti was even better than last time we went, and I am sure we will be back!

Everything at Y&Y looks so good! Those veggies look so fresh and that dessert-- OMG!

my sister's princess thank you for the wonderful review. I have a question if you don't mind? Did you like the steak or the shrimp portion of your meal better? I was going to order the shaxoing & shrimp but then I thought about the shrimp tempura only and am still torn. How many shrimp did you get with your meal and if you had to choose one which one would you choose? Thanks!
