Ahoy November 12th, 2009 Cruisers!!

Girl Yes! The Christmas store is Huge. You won't believe the stuff they have there. Maybe we can send your DH off w/my DH they can distract each other while we spend all the dough :rotfl2:

I don't have kids but I can't imagine taking my niece's ANYWHERE without my hubby. I would go nuts. DN1 is 7 and DN2 is 4...Handful City with those two!

Scootch,

How has your experience been with renting points from a DVC member? I had originally thought about doing this because I want to stay at BLT soooo badly the night before our cruise. I did a LOT of reading over on the DVC boards, but I never decided to go for it (I don't know why!)

Is this the first time you've done it? Can you tell me a little more about it?

Thanks!

P.S. Maybe, just maybe I'll cancel my ressie at the POP if I can figure out how to do this and get a studio room at the BLT! That would be a dream come true!

OMG!!! Haven't been on the board for a few weeks and I have lots of pages to catch up on....someone just give me the jist of things....who is staying where and why....kind of like that AT&T Cable commercial...LOL

I so need a Disney fix!!!

This is my second year renting... off of two different people. Last year I got the Wilderness Lodge Villa for 6 nights for only $830. There is a smidge of risk, but you can double check on the county site that the person does actually own DVC points. The guy I am renting from this time is an attorney, so he even drew up a contract. They both sent me the actual reservation from disney world. It has my name on it. You can't really call to check on it, but when I made my dining reservations(last year) they would look it up for me. They actually "own" the reservation, so you can't call and make changes to it. You don't get daily housekeeping, just on the 4th day. That is for all DVC members. Not a biggie, we just got extra towels and to be honest, it was nice not having someone come in my room all the time. The guy I rented from does own BLT points, so if you would like to have his email, let me know and I will pm you. He charged me $12 a point, you can do a search on dvc point chart to see how many you would need. Here is a link(if disboards will let me post it.... http://www.wdwinfo.com/resort/dvcpoint.cfm I found him here on disboards. For lake view for the 4 nights, I needed 60 points, so $720. That averages only $180 a night... well worth it in my opinion. You can still get Magical Express and one perk, you can add the Dining plan without buying park tickets thru Disney..... so I was able to buy my park tickets thru undercover tourist and also get the dining plan last year.

As far as taking the girls by myself... it all started when I turned 40. My oldest was 5/youngest 2 1/2. I wanted to go to disney but my husband is a teacher and can only go over holidays or in the summer. He HATES amusement type parks(had been to disney years ago) ... so he did not want to go. I kept saying, I don't need you to go, I can take them myself. He was like, you are going to take a 5 year old and a 2 year old to disney by yourself? AFter months of working on him, he said, well if you think you can do it, go ahead. I booked the trip. I knew my 5 year old would love it, what was a total surprise was my 2 year old. She came back a walking disney world commercial!! My husband was like, Oh you have to take them back again next year!! The only difficulty was the flight as my 2 year old went from seat to seat to seat and I was exhausted by the time I arrived in Orlando!! The second year my sisterinlaw came.. then the third year is when I took my neice. The past two years, I have taken them by myself and they are so good there, it really isn't hard. I know if my husband came, he wouldn't be so happy that we ride "its a small world" 15 times in a day...:dance3: so really it is almost easier without him. I love him dearly and he does so much other stuff with the kids..... also it is cheaper without him! He is more of a beach guy, which is why we just had 10 days at Virginia Beach.

Sue, OK if I got it right Harmony is staying at POP the night before, I am staying somewhere at Disney the night before, and scootch is staying at BLT for 4 days after the cruise.

I am still trying to get a Beach Club reservation. I would love to go to BCV so that I can use Stormalong bay. BLT is sold out unless you want to pay cash (for a studio or 1 br)

Can someone explain the FE to me a bit????

Also anyone doing the Comfort Suites thing????? they have a great rate going on, but I don't want to go there alone......

Amy,

Fish Extenders...basically it's a gift exchange between fellow dis'ers. I purchased my fish extender on e-bay. We have decided that since this is such a short cruise we are going to do one gift instead of delivering things daily. It's a lot of fun. On my last cruise I bought movie candy and put a package together so that everyone had their own movie candy on us :goodvibes

OK...it's official...I'm so far behind on my Disney planning....and reading this thread!!:sad2::sad2:

I soooooo need a vacation and I'm really looking forward to this trip....just warning everyone.....I may party a little too much...:lmao::lmao:...so if you see me face down in the sand at CC...please take pictures....Wendy seemed to miss that photo op last time...:lmao:

:lmao:I promise if I see you face down I will at least flip you over. Wouldn't want the tide to come in :lmao:

Again Sue?! Although I didn't think it was you passed out on the beach, I thoughy it was Ron. I guess you'll carry his torch this time, huh? :rotfl:

It was definitely Sue! She has NO recollection of being on CC AT ALL! LOL!
I cannot believe i missed that photo op...you can guarantee I won't next time...I just have to convince her to go to the club for double shot Bahama Mamas again...lol.

Harmony,

I am so sorry...I was talking to Wendy on Facebook when I was typing it ooops :rotfl:

Scootch,

I checked on that link you posted and I could stay in either the Animal Kingdom Villas or the Board Walk Villas for the same price as I paid for the POP!

I am definately interested in contacting the guy you rented points from this time. Can you PM me his info? Thanks!

boy! y'all have been busy the last couple of days!:chat:
I believe that Laura and Mike might be in for the FE too. Today is Laura's birthday-:bday:Laura!!!
I always wondered how renting DVC points worked. DVC itself was something we knew was not an option for us:sad1: -boy I sure wish it was!
That Hyatt deal sounds great too-wow!:yay:
