As expected yesterday was terribly hot, so that made the afternoon tea especially welcoming. :)
DH and I went as part of my birthday celebration.
As we were there there was only one other man. And he ducked out right after he finished eating, leaving the women he was with to linger. :rotfl2:
But I don't think DH felt uncomfortable. And as we were leaving another couple that appeared to be DH/DW were being seated. :thumbsup2

DH usually drinks coffee, and could have there too. But we shared a pressed pot of Organic Green Tea - with citrus and gingko. Very good. There was quite a variety of teas to choose from. And he could have selected one of his own.

We both ordered the Buckingham Palace: traditional tea sandwiches, scones and jam tarts complimented by fresh strawberries and cream, and the tea.

The server was very nice and attentive the entire time. And service was fast, as they don't really have much to prepare. This was set up so they can bring items and clear them away rather efficient.

Each sandwich was maybe 3 - 4" square, and cut from the center of a sandwich. Thin bread, with a thin flavorful layer of filling in between.

Each sandwich was different and the server said what each was as she set down the plates. I passed on the watercrest and cuke, but the others were VERY good. DH likes cukes and he even commented how good the sandwich was I neglected. ;) On the side was a Small, sweet onion tart. Sounds odd. But it was very sweet. I am not an onion person and ate mine. It was a little too oniony for me. But after all, it was an onion tart! :rotfl:

We were served I think 4 courses. The last being our choice, and we each ordered strawberries and cream. We each were served a large bowl of strawberries smothered in real whip cream. I think DH was in heaven. :cloud9: He even finished off what I left behind of my berries and cream.

Overall the afternoon tea was a very good experience, and we certainly would return for a repeat visit. It was very refreshing, and more filling than you would expect.

I told DH too bad we did not have a room at the GF. It would have been perfect to had the tea and go to a room for a nap, away from the brutal sun and heat we had to face once again!

And I used the DDE discount card too. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the review, I'm glad you and DH enjoyed your experience. :goodvibes

Enjoyed reading your review ~ We have a lovely time when we had the tea.

That was one of the highlights of our trip in March. LOVED the tea at the GF, we even had our DD (then 22 mons) with us and she loved the children's tea, with special (choclate milk) tea. She had a blast. My inlaws were so impressed we think they will head back and stay at the GF sometime.

Glad you enjoyed it.

I have been there twice of my DH. I enjoyed in very much. It is so relaxing. I am planning to go in Dec when return to WDW.

I loved the tea when we did it last summer! I would love to do it again this trip, but my DD is in a "no" and "that's mine!" phase, so it will have to wait. I wouldn't want her accidentally pulling a teapot over because she thinks it's "hers." LOL.

But we had a wonderful afternoon there and I cannot wait to return! Thanks for sharing your experience!

I guess the reason I'm confused is that a previous poster spoke of ladies and one man. To me it looks like a program where you drop the child off. Am I missing something here?

Yes, you are! The Wonderland Tea Party is for kids, but the Garden View Cafe at the Grand Floridian serves traditional British-style afternoon teas for adults (and kids, too).

And congrats on getting Board certified!

We do this every trip. Only I am the coffee drinker and DH is the tea drinker. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Thanks for the review. My DH and I love tea so this sounds like a great afternoon get away for 2!

We really enjoyed this too. I can't remember which one we ordered, but anyway it included a glass of champagne. I had turned 21 literally the day before but my id was back in the room and I didn't think the glass of champagne was worth going all the way back (about 2 minutes!:rotfl: ) to get it, so I told the server that it didn't matter, I just wouldn't have the champagne. When we got the bill she had charged me for the less expensive tea that comes without the champagne, which was a nice surprise, as it hadn't even crossed my mind to not pay for the 2 champagne lunches. She was really pleasant and I loved the atmosphere, it's something different! :)

Could anyone please tell me approximately how long the tea lasts? I'm trying to decide what time would work best for us.

Thanks!
