New Disney Ships: News, Rumors, Speculation.....and Names!

In less than two months, the first guests will step on board the Disney Destiny, where legendary heroes and villains will take center stage. Guests will interact with these dynamic characters in venues across the ship, such as the Grand Hall, the ship’s most striking and prominent gathering place inspired by the rich lore and vibrant color palette of Marvel Studios’ Black Panther.

This space will host a variety of all-new entertainment offerings, including “Sounds of Wakanda,” a musical celebration featuring a group of traveling percussionists whose rousing rhythms are inspired by the stories, legends and culture of Wakanda.

Additional entertainment offerings in the Grand Hall and beyond will feature two traveling storytellers, Zayah and Gamble, whose enchanted trunks react to the powerful energy and magic of classic Disney villains. Zayah, a fortune teller, will make predictions and weave tales with the help of a mysterious book, while Gamble will conjure adventures with his collection of mystifying potions and elixirs.
Zayah and Gamble on the Disney Destiny

The duo will host a variety of immersive storytelling experiences throughout each voyage, like “With Great Power: A Marvel Comedy Show” in the Saga entertainment lounge. Curated exclusively for adults, this sketch comedy show will invite guests on an interactive journey through some of the most iconic moments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe using comically low-budget props, homemade sound effects, and sight gags to bring the stories to life.

With the Disney Destiny’s maiden voyage now less than two months away, stay tuned for more details on how this heroes and villains-themed ship will come to life this November.

My son is going to be so crushed there’s an adult only marvel comedy show…I’m sad too because I’ll feel too guilty to go without him.

I dont think anyone expected it so dont get how you can be sad about something you never knew about. Plus if it’s adult only the kids wont like it anyway.
You don’t know how a kid can’t be sad about a show they will see in the entertainment schedule but can’t attend?

I don’t have a problem with Disney doing adult only shows or having adult focused activity, but I think having IP themed stuff that’s popular with all ages be geared towards adult is an unfortunate choice.

Its not unfortunate. Its fantastic and what adults have been wanting for years. More themed adult experiences so adults can experience escapism as well in a way that they will enjoy rather then in a way targetted for kids.

Just tell your kids they wouldnt like it cos its aimed at adults. Most kids who can read are mature enough to get this concept. They arent going to be shattered or even care as they will be too focused on all the things they can do. My barbie loving daughters just rolled their shoulders and moved on after I told them the barbie movie was in fact not for kids who love Barbie like them.

And if you dont think your kid can do this then just show him/her the navigator without the adult experiences selected. You shouldnt feel guilty about your kid not be able to do adult experiences when there is plenty aimed at the kids. Kids certainly dont feel guilty when the situation is reversed.

The kids have plenty of activities in the club that adults cannot do. It's OK for them to have something to look forward to as they grow up that they can experience later similar to dining at Palo. Adults are allowed to enjoy IP related things that are just for adults. Not every single thing on a Disney ship has to be focused on the kids.

On a personal note, your child is likely not going to be crushed or devastated unless they have lived a life without ever hearing a no. They are likely to be mildly disappointed which is ok. It sucks when we can't have everything we want when we want it- it is completely fine to acknowledge that and help them process that feeling while also reminding them of all the other amazing things that they can enjoy on the ship.

I trust your child will be ok but I worry when you say things like you will feel too guilty to enjoy the show. You are allowed to enjoy things even when your child is upset that they are not old enough to enjoy them yet. I'm hoping you do not wrap every decision in your life around if your child can also partake. I hope you don't refrain from drinking, adult dining, certain books, shows, or rated R movies because your child cannot also enjoy them at this point in their life. I also don't want you to feel guilty when you have taken your child on an amazing Disney vacation that you take some time to enjoy something even if they can't. There are tons of valid things for parents to feel guilty over but taking some time to enjoy an adult only marvel comedy show should not be one of them. Please go enjoy the show and trust that your child will brave this disappointment with resilience and will be OK with their parent having a little bit of fun even if they can't go to this one particular thing.

Certainly not arguing that everything on a Disney ship should be focused on kids, there are plenty of IP bars and lounges on the new ships and we always enjoy the adult dining spots. I just happen to have a kid who loves comedy and loves Marvel, and he'll be disappointed by this. I suspect using the word "crushed" offhand communicated a greater level of distress than I intended to convey-- he will be quite disappointed if he discovers it but he'll get over it and enjoy the cruise.

I think this is solid parenting advice and I appreciate you encouraging me not to skip something I would love for fear of upsetting my kid(s), but in this case, he's the primary Marvel lover and I might enjoy it but it's also not that important to me (unfortunately we're on a very early sailing so I probably won't get to read reviews from people who've seen maybe a handful of Marvel movies but aren't diehards).

I think of our Disney cruises as having a lot of "family time" and a few buckets of "adult/couple time" and the show sounds like something I would absolutely do as family time (and still wish they had an earlier family friendly version of some sort of marvel show, like they do with the comedians, and maybe they will but haven't announced it!) but it's not high enough on the list to do as a couple. We would rather spend an evening in Enchante or try some of the adult trivia etc. Anyway, I genuinely appreciate the concern for balancing adult quality time and kid feelings, and I don't begrudge any other adults the right to enjoy kid-free activities at all, but for our family, who wants to sail the Destiny because my husband and son enjoy Marvel (and comedy) together, it was an unlucky break. I think there are other families like mine that might be less likely to sail on the Destiny ("the most Marvel ship") if it feels there isn't enough Marvel stuff for the whole family to do together....but perhaps Disney has conducted market research and they think they'll gain more adults who love Marvel by taking this approach.
