Afternoon Break: Yay or Nay?

Curious as to what you prefer (especially those of you that travel in summer): Do you prefer to take an afternoon break, or just stay through?
Depends on the kids. Our DD is very go with the flow and sleeps in her stroller well if she really needs to sleep. She doesn't always fall asleep if we specifically lay her down for a nap. So,given the travel time back to the hotel from a park and then back to the park again later, it isn't worth it for us to go back. She can't swim on her own yet and we aren't huge pool people, so the pool isn't a huge draw for us.

What we do instead is things like planning a lunch table service meal that will get us inside and into some A/C for a while in the middle of the hottest time of day. We'll also do some calmer activities, like taking a ride on the ships around the Rivers of America, or finding a show like Mickey's Philharmagic/Festival of the Lion King/Voyage of the Little Mermaid (or any of the shows around World Showcase in Epcot). If DD falls asleep in her stroller, we might take advantage of Rider Swap and do some of the rides she's too short for, or find a snack and a quiet corner of the park and just sit and relax for a bit.

If DD naps, we'll stay through til the fireworks. If she doesn't, we usually head back a bit earlier so she doesn't fall asleep on the way back to the hotel.

How do you manage the afternoon storms?
Bring ponchos and a stroller rain cover (if needed), and find a nice long indoor attraction to enjoy :) Or, in some place like Epcot, some place with multiple things to enjoy...like maybe riding Spaceship Earth, and then taking time to play all the interactive games until the storm passes.

The pool will still be there- it isn't going anywhere. I find travelling in the middle of the day a major hassle. It adds a lot more walking to the day. Indoor rides and shows and just relaxing in the parks much easier for us.

We Always take breaks and Always get hoppers. Last 3 trips were just DH and I and we still take breaks. Get up early, RD or Pre park opending ADR, break in afternoon, and close parks down. Last september it was a necessity due to heat, but other trips in December - it's just nice to take a break from crowds. We do also stay at monorail or epcot area resorts. Although one time it was just myself and DS who was 5. We stayed at CBR, but took breaks which really helped keep him rested and happy.
