We are considering sleeping in one morning and hitting AK around noon till closing on a Wednesday. Any thoughts on trying to tour the park in the afternoon only? Will we have enough time to see the park?

It depends on when the park closes that day. In the summer AK closes at 6pm so you would be ok. Use fast pass and look carefully at the show schedules. If you plan on eating in the park you will need to eat before 3pm as that is when most of the counter service closes. I believe the carts stay open and Rainforest cafe does as well.

You didn't mention when you were going to Disney. The time of year will really affect this plan. Since it closes the earliest of all the parks.

Another factor to consider is that AK is predominantly an outdoor park. Most of the things to see and do are not in air conditioned buildings but out in the open. So if you are going during warm weather, it is best to get to AK at opening and be able to head out by early afternoon when the temperature peaks.

The animals feel the heat too. In the morning their up and around, but if you go on the safari in the afternoon, well let's just say we didn't see enough to make it worth the wait. Change your plans to go early then take a break. The other parks are always bussier in the afternoon. In my personal opinion it's all the people flooding out of AK going to the other parks that make them so busy.

Whatever you do, don't miss the Festival of the Lion King show and the AK parade!! They are both highlights for me. The Tarzan show is vey romantic, well, the Tarzan on the ropes part sure is! The safari ride is also great. Everyone seems to say you can do AK in a day and we've been there 4 times and still haven't seen it all. So, don't go crazy in your afternoon. Just pick out you personal favorites and enjoy yourself.

Are you going with kids? How old are they? Because if you want to do the new kiddie ride section as well as dino boneyard, you might need a little more time. I have doen it an afternoon but I have been there a few times before and know exactly what I want to do and what I can miss. Like somebody else mentioned don't miss Lion King show and the safari is awesome too.

Hello everyone, I've new but have been reading for awhile. We're going early June, reserved POFQ (love those codes!) and I'm thrilled with all the info. I've found here! I'd love to jump on this topic with a question of my own...

We plan to do AK Early in the morning on Sunday, June 6. We plan to go back to the hotel for a break somewhere around 12 or 1 PM, then return around 3:30 - 4 PM. What is best to see in that late afternoon time slot? We were thinking Festival, or KS, Pangani, or Maharajah. My DS is 7, an animal lover, but also suffers a bit in the heat (he has psoriasis). We are following the Unoffical Guide, but any guidance you could give here would be great! You always have great insight, so I thank you in advance for your helpful responses!!

Welcome to the Boards :wave2: The UG usually gets it right! As they say KS will be quieter by that time and you'll see more animals as it cools. Also, perhaps have a look over at Kali River Rapids as well - if there any left consider getting a FASTPASS and returning to Kali after the Jungle Trek (make sure you check return times). Consider a Priority Seating at the Rainforest Cafe for supper - great atmosphere and I think excellent food. Just an aside, the Festival is now indoors and air conditioned so the weather is less of an issue, but of course the final show of the day will be less crowded!

Have fun.
