Okay...this is our first trip home. My kids are 16, 13 and 8. I know we would like to be pretty close to the main pool which is in the Springs right? But I have also heard that Congress Park is nice and close to DTD. SO how long a walk is it to DTD from Congress? How far a walk to the Springs area from Congress to the main pool? How far a walk is it to this same area from the Grand Stand area? I understand that Grand Stand has the first bus stops and Congress Park the last? So given the ages of my kids what would you suggest? I have also thought about just winging it and getting whatever. I have never really requested a certain area/section at other Disney Resorts. Thanks.

We just stayed in the brand new Grandstand section. We were in the bldg closest to check-in. There was a quiet pool right next to us that was great when you didn't feel like going to the main pool (DD7 actually liked the quiet pool better too).

I would definitely request Grandstand again. Very short walk to main bldg.

We just got back on Wednesday and the Grandstand was super for us because it was the first pick up on the bus and we always got seats! It was also a very do-able walk to the check-in area and the spa. My DD is 8 and my DS is days away from 4. Have fun!!:cool1:

Especially with teenagers. They can jump in the quiet pool, enjoy the great
view across the water and the quick walk to DTD. You can't go wrong.:thumbsup2

We stayed in the last room of the last building in the Grandstand section. I would never want that area again!! Although the view was nice and the area quiet, it was a BIG HASSLE to get to the Springs area. It took about 10 minutes at least to get to the Springs. It was a very long walk for our little ones and we would only head down there if we REALLY wanted to visit the Springs. One night it took us 45 minutes to get to our room because we waited for a nonexistent bus then decided to walk (2 very tired kids plus 2 very tired adults thought the bus would make it easier, but after 25 minutes waiting, we decided to walk the 20 minutes home!)

The pool at the Grandstand was great for us because my DS3 loves splash parks. The quiet pool had a much better splash park than the main pool.

We've stayed at the Springs before and really liked it. We had a room that looked out towards the main pool. It was very convenient!

Just got back...stayed in the Paddock...because a room was ready at 11:00am when we arrived. We had requested the Grandstand but nothing ready.

Our Paddock building was right next to the Carousel bus stop so that was great. The walk to the main area - Springs pool, Artist Pallete, etc. - was about 5-7 minutes - which was not a bother. However, we are in our 40s and our kids are 11 and 17 so no big deal to walk a bit for the convenience of having the room at arrival.

Overall, SSR was very peaceful, clean and a pleasure to visit.

Hmmmm decisions decisions. I do like the idea of being close to DTD because we do have time planned there for meals and Disney Quest/shopping. BUT we also have time planned for the Main Pool in the afternoons and some evenings. WHen I look at the map of SSR it is overwhelming to me. I think a poster said that the buildiing in Congress Park closes to the SPrings yet also close to DTD might be perfect. I wonder if you can request a bldg. LOL
