Hello everyone,

I know it's a bit early but since me and my baby went to Disney for Christmas with his baby beetle car (which is all green like a little frog with two anthens) and New Year's Eve and got a dozen or nice pictures that I'm very proud of, I thought I'd ask your opinion about the Valentine's Day gift I'd like to get him this February.

We have a favourite photo together with Minnie and I'd like to turn it into a hand-made oil painting for his gift. I found this artist website that turns photos into hand-made paintings at paintedsouvenirs.com

The photo is absolutely lovely in my opinion, just like our experience at Disney for Christmas, well some of the photos were a bit blurry, don't know why, maybe our camera is a bit old now, anyway this is what I am planning to do for him...However, I don't think it's a good idea to post the pic here as the world is very small and maybe anyone may recognize him which would be a bit awkward...(I promise I'll post photos of us after Valentine's Day)...

Please let me know what you think about my idea or if any of you ever used it for any gift at all. I'd be mostly interested on the paintings' effect... Thanks

I wouldn't do it. I glanced at the site and I think if you really want to get a painting done, you should shop around a little more. I wasn't impressed with the quality of the paintings on that site, and since I imagine they have their best examples displayed on there I would be really concerned that the one you'd get might not be the best quality. I've heard great things about some other sites that do that sort of thing but I don't know if I should link to them. Maybe if you Google for reviews of places like that you'd find someplace that could do a really good painting for you.

ETA - Oops, how awkward! Guess I should have read Magic Mom's response before answering. In light of the new info, I change my answer:
I wouldn't do it because I don't do business with shady companies that spam other people's websites in order to advertise. :)
