Dh and I are planning a trip for our anniversary this October (25-30). We have a reservation at VWL (our home resort) but want very much to try BCV. I know that it's got to be difficult to book BCV during the Food & Wine Festival, but we're going to give it a shot.

My question is, should I change over day by day, or wait 'til March 30 to book the whole trip? Dh wants to do the day by day thing, but I'm concerned about getting 3 out of the 5 nights at BCV and then having to switch resorts 'cuz the 2 other nights aren't available or don't come through on wait list.

Any advice on which way to go? TIA!!

I would call day by day... and on the first day I would ask how it is looking... if it looks like it is going to be hard... then I might waitlist the whole thing, just to be on the safeside (of not having to move) But I would start off calling the first day and go from there.

Oh...I didn't even think about waitlisting the whole thing! Thank you for the great idea! :)

Yes you can waitlist the whole thing... you can also waitlist at more than on resort, if BWV is to your liking... you may want to wait list for both BCV and BWV....

Good luck!

I just booked BCV and cancelled our VWL for Oct 1-4. I called day by day and had no problems. I was suprised as I know this is such a busy time. Good luck.

You best chance for success depends on your situation and how many points you have. If you have enough points to keep the VWL reservation until you get the BCV, that is your best bet. You would keep your current reservation then call day by day for the new one. You'd also wait list day by day if any days were not available. You would not cancel the old reservation until your new one was set. The problem with wait listing for the entire reservation is that unless they have EVERYTHING, they will let any available days go by. Say they have 6 days of a 7 day wait list, they will not hold them for you but would give them to the next applicable person on the wait list.

For those that don't have enough points to do this, there are ways to minimize your risk and maximize your chances.
