There is so much information here that my head is spinning. So, I'll take a shot at a new thread for advice. We are arriving Thursday 11/16 and staying at the Polynesian for 2 nights (By the way, we got 2 nights for less than $300 a night at Travelocity). Two young kids, 6 and 3. Thursday is an Extra Magic Hour at MK. Friday night is the opening night for Mickey's Very Merry X-Mas Party. I have unused nonexpiring based tickets.
The reason we chose to arrive when we did was to have a couple days before the Thanksgiving crowd rolls in. According to what I read, Friday's crowd index was a 4 so I was planning on going to the park early Friday a.m. Give the kids a break, then go back at night. The problem is that the park is only open until 7pm due to MVMCP. It doesn't make sense to me to burn one of my park days and then pay the extra money to stay for MVMCP. Thursday just seems like a bad day altogether due to the EM at MK. We really like to do one evening so the kids can see either Sprectomagic parade or the MVMCP parade.
So, do you recommend we go Thursday evening and Friday evening for the MVMCP? Or, go Friday a.m. and "repay" to stay after 7pm? What are you opinions on the crowds those days, especially opening night of MCMCP? HELP!!!!!! Thank you.

I'm going to the MK on the 17th all day and staying for the MVMCP. Maybe we will see you there!!

The reason that we are going to the MK on Friday is because its the day after the EMH and its still showing low crowds. (I hope I'm right) We have never been to the MVMVP so we wanted to try it. We have AP's this trip so paying extra isn't as painful if we had to burn one of our days. However, since the MK should be at low crowds, I would go Friday and then if you have park hoppers, go to another park in the evening. Spectro Magic will not be shown on Friday, but Disney is showing that regular "wishes" will be.

Also, On thursday, the EMH are in the morning at the MK and the MK will be closing at 8:00 pm on Thursday. What time are you arriving? You might have more touring time on Friday depending when you arrive, but you will not be able to see Specto on Friday.

Another thing, you could view the holiday wishes from the Beach at the Poly.

Have a great trip-- ONLY 5 more days!!

yes, the reason I want to go Friday is the lower crowd projection. We won't arrive to Polyneisan on Thursday until about 11. From what I am reading, we should stay away from MK on Thursday all together due to the EMH. I was planning on opening the park, giving the kids a break in the middle of the day, and then going back. Paying extra to stay in the park after 7 is painful though. Maybe will just leave at 7, but there is a substantial savings if we buy the MVMCP tickets in advance. Quite frankly, I think Disney is way out of bounds for what it is charging those who already paid for the entire day.
My kids will probably won't last past 9pm. I wonder if we could get away with hanging around for just the parade without the wrist bands? Maybe they only check the wristbands for the rides? Well, knowing us, I'll probably just swallow hard and pay the extra price for MVMCP.

What are APs?

AP= Annual Pass

Nov 13th is the first MVMCP. We'll be there that night!! :cool1:
They check the wristbands during the party. Not only if you tried to go on the rides, but as you walk around, they will check to see if you have on a wrist band. We saw them doing this during an EMH night, so for something like the MVMCP, that people had to pay for a ticket, I'm sure they'll be checking wrist bands. I wouldn't chance it. They will let you in at 4pm even though the party officially starts at 7pm. So, you can do alot even if you leave at 9pm. Also, you stated that Thursday is EMH at MK, I have to double check, but I don't think it is. I thought that night was EMH at Epcot. :confused3

Sorry, I figured it out. Thursday is the MORNING EMH at MK. I thought you were referring to an EVENING EMH!

Personally I think that Fri MVMCP will be crowded. Even though it's not opening night, it is the first weekend night for it.

If you don't think the kids will last past 9:00pm you'd be better off trading in your tickets for a two day pass and then go to the MK on Thursday and Friday (or if you ever think your going to go back trade them in for a 10 day hopper and save them for the next trip) 4 tickets at $37 +tax is about $160 -- We went to the Halloween Party when my DD was only 21 months and it was a waste. I ended up going back to the hotel with her about 9:00 and my DH stayed until 11;30. He loved it due to the low crowds, but I was very dissappointed.

The kids are now 6&8 and I'm hoping we will get our moneys worth.

Actually, I was thinking the EMH was night. Well, maybe Thursday night won't be all that bad then. I just hate burning a pass for an evening only. Are there any other options? Maybe I'll look into the 2 day pass as suggested by Tinkerbelle. I'll need to check my passes and see how many days I have left. Since we are in Disney World every year, we originally purchased either a 7 or 10 day base pass. I'm just torn on whether the MVMCP is a can't miss or not. Decisions, decisions......

Thursday night the MK closes at 8pm. Is there another park you would like to do? I was just thinking you could do Epcot on Thursday. It's open till 9pm. Then do MK on Friday and get there at opening and spend the day. Then you won't feel like you have waisted a pass with only half a day at the parks. Also, unless you don't see yourself ever having a chance to do MVMCP again, I would skip it this time.
