Yes, all those other emails have gotten my heart jumping everytime I see them...lol

From what I can tell from the second rounders, it seems there is a trend toward people from out of the country...UK, Peru, Canada. Perhaps Disney is going to capitalize on the fact that the dollar is so weak and there are so many foreign visitors to DW who might have questions for the Moms Panel and need their unique point of view. Smart move on their part, IMO. Just thinkin' out loud, lol

Again, congrats to you all who made it!!

I noticed that as well. I noticed on another board, there was also a lot from out of the US. No biggee! There are a lot of foreign travellers especially now with our economy. Disney isn't just for the United States citizens, it's for the world, so I guess this would make sense. I woke up this AM and remembered that I didn't get the email. I was bummed! It is what it is. I am so swamped now with my classes and other things going on (not so good things), thought this would be "my time" to shine and a great diversion. However, I am sure we all feel that way. I know we feel like we are "special" with our Disney passion and knowledge, but let's face it...20k apps & I am sure it wa tough to narrow down. So..good luck everyone, I wish you the best!

I received the message today and although I already answered the three questions, I haven´t realized how much lucky I was for getting into second phase...until I met you guys!!!! Now I have another reason for feeling lucky: finding a great group of people that not only share my love for Disney but are incredible, caring and optimistic human beings.

I was very relaxed about this opportunity. I am from Peru, not english native speaker and although the bases did not mention that contestants have to be from USA, I never ever thought I could have the slightest possibility with so many experts and Disney lovers that had travel countless times to our dream land...but here I am!!!!

Luckily I already answered the 3 questions as I told you, because after reading your messages I could be so nervous that I don´t know what to write!!!!

Will keep you posted...meanwhile please send me tons of pixie-dust!!

P.S. And yes Bret (aka RatBoy)! I am the annoying peruvian lady that filled your inbox with loooots of questions last may. But let me say that thanks to the Moms Panel my trip was the best EVER...thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!

"Sophia from Lima" is that you?? How amazingly cool is that?!!!:goodvibes

Congrats on making it to round two. Felicitaciones!!:woohoo:

Also, I'm so very glad to hear that your trip went well. We need details...photos...etc.!! :rolleyes1

-Bret

p.s. not annoying at all. We love getting questions.;)

Hi Leslie! I was so hopeful for you!!!!! Unfortunately, I did not receive the email either. Everything happens for a reason....plus, there's always next year!

I wish all those who are going on to the next round the absolute BEST of luck! What an honor and opportunity! Know that you have a wonderful group of Disney lovers here rooting for you!

On another note, is there anyone who agrees with me that all of the Disneyinsider and DisneyParks emails that have flown into our in boxes in the last 24 hours are a sick tease? LOL!:rotfl:

That is so true! I even got a pin code this week. First time I've ever cursed a pin code! :rotfl2:

Congrats to all those who have made it to the second round! I am equal parts thrilled for and envious of you! (Give me a few weeks - the envy thing will go away ;) )

I haven't heard of anyone receiving a "thanks but no thanks" email from the folks running the applications for the '09 Mom's Panel -- so, I'm guessing that they decided that didn't work so well last year ;) and have omitted it (for the time being or as a general practice, I don't know. :confused3)

I'm just glad that I'm assured another year in the Mickey Mom's Club. :cheer2:

Good luck to everyone moving on to Round 2!
Eileen

No email for me either. Disappointed, sure, but THRILLED for the others that did- YES!!! :wizard:

Jen- thanks for compiling the list. It's great to see all the DISer's represented so far! Now I know who to cheer on!! :cheer2:

:wizard: :woohoo:  :cheer2: CONGRATS panel hopefuls and here is wishing you lots of luck in round 2! I can't wait to follow you in your grand adventure!

I keep seeing references to Mickey's Mom's Club. What is that and where do I get the info? :confused3

It sounds like a way to help 'console' myself for not moving on (although I still check my email WAY too often!)

Thanks-

I am still hopeful even though the 4 emails from Disney in my inbox from the past 2 days have NOT been for the Mom's Panel. I am wishing and praying and hoping that Tinkerbell likes to surf, will sprinkle some pixie dust so that these emails WILL come in waves...lol.

To those of you who have made it to the 2nd round - I look forward to hearing your announcements that you are on the new Panel. Keeping my fingers crossed for all of the DISer applicants :)

Gosh, I didn't even realize they were sending out the Round Two notices already. Sadly, I am not one of the lucky ones to move on this year (or last year either, lol, and probably not any year after this) but I can look forward to a week long vacation in under two months and the planning for our Spring '09 trip has begun.

I seem to remember that it was mentioned in the application confirmation email that this year they would not be sending out the "sorry you have not been chosen" emails this year.

I'm happy for those that get the opportunity to be on the panel and I'd be thrilled if I could one day be on that panel. Hekc, I'd also just be thrilled with a pin code some day  . Of course looking at my track record of WDW trips they probably know they don't need to lure us because we'll be there regardless. :goodvibes

Has anyone else received any email notice today? I am hoping that this wasn't the only batch to go out...I cannot stop refreshing either!:bored:

Nothing today here....I guess my small dose of hope was due to the fact that last year I got that "No thank you" email when it was stated they would not send them...however, I do not think its known how many applicants they did receive.
Perhaps too much of an endeavor to send "No thank you" emails.

Again, good luck to all the 2nd round picks:)

For the applicants that posted, and were upset...please remember, the odds were slim....:) Being apart of the "Moms Club" is great, I recall the day I got that email...and the welcome pack! They didnt have to do that...and that was a great feeling!
Besides, no one forced us to enter.....we all entered knowing that they are looking for 16 out of a possible 20,000!!!
So chin up ladies:) And lets support those who were selected:)

Hello everyone - just wanted to thank you all for your well wishes. I do feel blessed to be moving on and I wish my fellow Round 2ers the best of luck.

For those of you not moving on, I'm very sorry and believe me, I feel your pain. Actually, I think almost everyone on this thread has been through it before whether eliminated after the first, second or even worse - the third round last year.

However, I do believe in Disney Karma. Magically speaking, what goes around comes around and I hope each and every one of us will eventually receive the honor to serve on the Moms panel - or that any other magical wish you may have comes true.

That being said - how are the Round 2ers doing? I did submit my Round 2 responses and I must say, I had trouble with question #3. It's not that I didn't have the content...there was no way I could fit my first and second choice of topics into 100 words...the lowest word count I could achieve was 116. Anything less would leave the judges wondering how I made it through round 1! I was really hoping to use my first topic, but hopefully the third choice is the charm! Overall, I'm satisfied and anxiously await the news with the rest of you for the next round.

Good luck to you all!

I just wanted to second what Partyof5 said.
Thank you everyone for your well wishes. :grouphug: I too, am very honored and humbled to have made it to the next round.
I understand why emotions are running high right now, I wish I knew what to say to make everyone feel better. How about a  instead

As far as how I'm doing, with a two year old to chase, it's already back to buisness as usual around here.
Good luck to the other 2nd rounders:flower3:

I think I speak for most people, ladies and gents alike, that we all support, whole heartedly, those who have made it to Round 2. I certainly sent in my share of questions to the panel over the past year, even when I already knew the answer! It was just fun to be a part of it and all the excitement.

Having said that, I think everyone knew what the odds were and of course they were slim. But, we all held out some hope or we would not have entered in the first place. So, without stealing the thunder from those who made it to the next round, I feel I can be a bit upset. If this wonderful forum is not the place for it I would be shocked. I am still feeling a bit down, but the DIS always brings a smile to my face. That is why I am here. So please forgive me if I bring anyone down. Maybe I can blame the hormones right now, but a tiny dream of mine has been crushed and I am sad. With the new addition on the way a trip in the next year is out so I won't be able to apply next year and the just adds to the saddness.

Okay, so I will keep my tears to myself and cheer on the winners. Oh and yes I love the Mickey Moms Club. I wear my membership proudly and always will.

Long live the Mom's Panel!!

Suz

Eileen: 'So nice of you to stop by our thread again -- especially since I know you're partial to the Passporter community! ;)

Wow! I have to admit I'm surprised that you didn't make it to the second round of the application process.

Last year at this time (back when I was a devoted DISboards "lurker"), I remember reading your witty and insightful posts and figuring you were a shoo-in for the Moms Panel! I was surprised when you didn't progress past the second round, and I'm surprised again.

Hmmmm.... I certainly would love the benefit if insider knowledge. (Oh, to be a fly on the wall at Disney Corporate... ::yes:: )

******

Anyway, here's one of my favorite Caldercup posts. (It was laugh-out-loud funny and really made me smile! :teeth: )

I shared this over on PassPorter earlier, but thought you folks might get a kick out of it:

The combo of Disney knowledge and eavesdropping... ...can make you look like a dork sometimes!

I know 'cause I just went "over the edge" this morning. :rolleyes1

I was at Kinkos shipping off a package to my DH (who's in Orlando for a convention and had the audacity not to invite me ). I was absorbed in carefully filling out the shipping label with all the specifics for the convention center, when my ears pricked up at the word "Disney."

See, the guy behind the counter was chatting with his co-worker:

"Yeah, and I don't even have the money to pay her back right now. I mean... exactly how MUCH is a one-day ticket to Disney anyway?"

Without thinking, without stopping my writing, without looking up, I just blurted out... "$75.62, tax included."

Conversation stopped. I looked up and all three Kinko's employees were staring at me with mingled looks of astonishment, horror and pity.

I just paid and left, knowing full well that they all burst into mocking laughter when the door closed behind me.

I'm SUCH a dork sometimes!
Eileen

Eileen

That's okay, you can hang with us dorks!!

So what was their facial expression when you said this? Or did they just look at you like you had something stuck between your teeth. Gotta love that feelin.
Julie

I would say that it was pretty clear they thought I was a nutter. :guilty:

They actually moved to the other side of the store to finish their conversation.... uninterrupted. (I tried not to notice that they also snuck worried looks at me as if they thought I might suddenly pull out a knife or start singing "it's a small world...." ;) )

The best thing of all was that, just after I had paid and left, I got a call from the DH who balked at the extremely high price of the "first delivery" service and wanted me to go back in and reduce it to the "delivered by 10AM" service.

I opened the door to the Kinkos and the uproarious laughter that I heard at first stopped dead cold.

I have to admit to taking a small amount of delight in the fact that they seemed seriously worried that I was going to go postal on them all. :scared:

Gave me a good giggle for the rest of the day.
Eileen

PS - I know I'm not alone in this :grouphug: -- we ALL do it, don't we?!

That is just too funny.:rotfl: There have been times when I have heard strangers discussing disney and really want to jump in but don't for fear of looking like a crazy person.

Okay, this is funny! :rotfl2:

You are so not alone! I hear Disney and it is like my ears suddenly turn into a dog's ears. :rolleyes1

You guys are always good for a laugh!!! The Kinko's story is too much! :rotfl2:

I look like a Disney dork on a regular basis. You're in good company here!

From what we've seen, it sure does look like the Panel has more of an international focus this time, huh? ::yes::

I'm confident that Disney has assessed its needs and carefully considered the types of questions received this year (as well as the demographics of those submitting the questions). I would think that all of those factors will be considered during Disney's decision-making process...

I'm definitely interested in seeing how it all plays out. And, since I no longer have to worry about rejection  , I suppose I now have the luxury of kicking back and relaxing as we watch it all unfold. popcorn:: (Obviously, though, I'd still prefer to be in the game... :rolleyes1 Just sayin'! )

Ok, I must sound dumb but what is a pin code?

A pin code is a special code that allows the recipient to receive discounted room rates/travel packages at the Walt Disney World Resort. (They're highly coveted and sort of the "golden ticket"! ;) )

I just went to visit the Mickey Moms Club website that was recently opened...and this was what I found!:scared1:

Mickey Moms Club Members Only!
Sorry, you've reached the members-only Mickey Moms Club. Entry is restricted to members who qualified through application for the Walt Disney World® Moms Panel. Though new membership is currently closed, registration will open to the public in the future. Stay tuned!

Meanwhile, you have successfully logged in to Walt Disney World.
=====================================================

I know I was there last week, but now there isn't even a spot to login for the current members...:confused3

I guess they may have to tweak membership a bit, but I didn't expect anything like this...:sad1:
