Adventures of the "Moms" Panel

I haven't been on the boards at all this week until now, so this is the first I've heard about the 2nd round e-mails!

I am a bit disappointed that I did not receive an e-mail myself, and am still hoping that a second set of e-mails gets sent, but if not, there's always next year :goodvibes

Congratulations to all who made it and GOOD LUCK - I hope you all make it to the next round :cheer2:

Nicole

BTW, any other lucky runner-ups? :cool1: Would die to know how many people get through 2nd round.

Last year there were about 125 people in the second round, and approx. 25 in the third round. I suspect the numbers are a little bigger this year, since they are seeking 16 panelists.

I wonder if there are any dads in the group?? :confused3

Surely there are some dads! But you will be a hard act to follow! ;) I think it is nice they are doing a more INTL panel too, especially given how much of their business is INTL. It only makes sense, and as Sophie said, there is probably such a lack of accurate info available internationally.

wow, what tough questions for round 2! good luck to all of you!!! :thumbsup2

While disappointed, i had some distraction- i've been helping a friend plan her Dec trip (she is going 27-jan 2- ouch!).....so she definitely needs help since they are going in peak season and she is taking a 5yo, 18mos and 6mos. I put together park hours for her and a schedule/chart with recommended parks, meals and fireworks/parades to see each day based on best park days, EMH etc. I've helped so many friends plan that I just re-use the spreadsheets over and over. She probably thinks i am nuts when she opened her 'spreadsheet' and saw the detail. :rotfl: :lmao: She emailed back and said how i should start my own website to help folks plan.....i just giggled knowing i am only one of thousands of DIS'rs that plan this intently and passionately for their friends and family and that those websites all exist already. ;) :rotfl2:

Hee! Hee! I can totally relate... :thumbsup2

It's nice to find soooo many like-minded people on these Boards -- until I'm "forced" to compete against those same people for a coveted position at Disney. (Then, it just stinks... ;) )

I planned a trip to Orlando this summer with friends, which (of course!) included a stop at the World. Since we were traveling there separately (My family drove. They took the autotrain.), I created notebooks full of crucial contact information, rezzies/ADRs, tentative schedules, maps, etc., for each family to carry. (Mine was in a lime green binder, of course... ;) ) I think they were a bit amused by the thorough presentation, but -- hey! -- it worked. When my friends' teen-aged daughter asked about our plans for the week, she was encouraged to "Look at the notebook" -- or so I am told.

THANKS A BUNCH SCOOPY!!! I will try to do my best to fulfill 10 posts soon :thumbsup2

My pleasure! (And, if you find the written instructions too confusing, you can always contact someone from the DISboards' tech support team (support@wdwinfo.com) ).

BTW, any other lucky runner-ups? :cool1: Would die to know how many people get through 2nd round. As many of you said, I believe they have opted to chose people from different target niches (families, single parents, dads, other countries, special needs) in order to make the most complete panel.

YES! One more lucky runner-up here! Sorry for the delay in posting, its been a hectic week with lots of business travel (10 days is too long of a business trip for me! If it were WDW I'm sure I'd feel very differently!!!).

Congrats to all, and to those who didn't, I know how heart-breaking it is not to move on. I hope ya'll are doing OK, and I hope I can spread the magic your way sometime!:grouphug:

Now... the pressure is on to answer my essays!!!

Mmmmm  so we could estimate merely 250 Disney lovers got through 2nd round..I feel so lucky! but scared at the same time. Nevermind, even if I don't get elected (which I am really looking forward to now) I will have the chance to enter the Moms Club which I think is a great compliment too!

I am quite sure there are some Dads in the group, mostly because of the great experience with you....you really brightened the Panel with your sense of humour!! Were you able to be re-elected??? Don't think so right? You'll be missed!!

Us heart broken rejects still have Mickey Moms Club:banana: ( I meant that is the most positive way:) )

I just noticed there are some new videos on the Mickey Moms Panel site! :cool1:

Bret - I just watched your video about using the (M&M) tube to hold quarters and pennies for pressed pennies. Funny story, well not at the time. My daughter used to also use the M&M tube...until we couldn't get through airport security one day. She had the tube in her carry-on and when it went it went through the XRay machine, TSA (and by then they had called at least half the shift over!) had questions they wanted answered. They stopped the conveyor belt, studied it over and over and finally made us pull it out of the bag and dump the coins out. They ended up confiscating the tube! I tried to lighten the mood with a little joke (DD was scared...) but they didn't appreciate it.

Reminds me of the time when they confiscated my son's (age 2 1/2 at the time) plastic chain saw (don't ask) when they were on a father/son trip. Needless to say, I got a frantic call from DH and had to immediately buy a new one to have it waiting at the airport on the other end. DH told him they had to take the chainsaw but it would be waiting at the other end for him. Thank goodness the third store I went to had them in stock!!

Well I am new here, but have been following the thread of conversation for a while now. So sorry for all those who did not get through to the 2nd round, but with upwards of 20K, I think it was a roll of the dice for us all.

I am a Dad that got through to the second round. Would love to be RatBoy, part 2! Will have to wait and see. Still working on my replies, trying to get them just right. Probably overthinking it, but would love to make it to the end!

Best of luck to all!

:rolleyes1

Can there ever be another RatBoy??!!! LOL!!!!:rotfl:

Congrats DisneyDad. I so hope the new Panel continues to have at least one male voice. Good luck with your answers!!!:goodvibes

Bret, I'm so glad you said this! I made it into the second round last year and never knew there were so few of us who made it there...now I feel a lot better that I didn't this year just to know that it was that much of an honor to be in that spot last year! Does that make sense? lol

Can't wait to see who makes it this year! Go get 'em!

Love the stories...reminded me of when I was younger and we went to WDW and my brother got one of the little musket guns at Pirate of the Caribbean and had a little explaining to do at airport security. Of course that was 25 years ago before airport security is what it is these days, and when they realized there was no gun barrel (it was a SOLID piece of wood), he got to keep it. We still talk about that everytime we ride Pirates!:rotfl:

Have a great weekend everyone and congrats to all the recent posts making it to round 2!

Congrats to you all! So glad we have a Dad in our crowd! I did notice there is at least one other dad on another board (not sure if it's dsiind).
