Adventures of the "Moms" Panel

Hi.
As my other wonderful panelists have said...
the training was more than I ever dreamed!

As time permits, I will add some tidbits and photos. My head is still spinning! :dance3:

Kim

Monday we had an extra half-hour to sleep in. :thumbsup2 The breakfast call was for 8:00. Again, regular breakfast-type food at the convention center training room. Computer-type training in the morning. Then at about 11:15 they brought in lunch stuff – sandwich fixins and salads. We could have eaten there, but most of us grabbed a plate and ran back to our rooms to change. We had about an hour to get camera ready. :scared: I myself used that time to pace around my room for a while, watch Stacey give her Disney Top 7, change my outfit four times, and then end up wearing exactly what I put on the first time.

Then back on the bus to the MK. I must say here that the whole time we were at WDW it was HOT.:sunny: Well, highs of 82-83, which is obviously not hot hot for Orlando, but it was definitely hot enough to make a person sweat when standing out in the sun at the MK. And sweating is not what a person wants to do when they’re getting filmed for all the world to see. (Well, maybe not the world, but for our purposes, close enough.) There was an area next to the Castle roped off (as you’re facing the Castle it’s the grassy knoll on the right) for our formal headshots and video bios that will be on the site. We were all huddled in the one tiny patch of shade while we waited for the filming to begin.

First we went out onto the main drive in front of the Castle and all posed on a trolley that they brought out for us. Then back to the knoll where four video stations were set up. We took turns getting filmed and photographed. Everyone was super nice and supportive, but I was very nervous. :scared1: There was a part of our video bio where we were just supposed to say our name and where we’re from etc. Like, “Hi, I’m Erin from New York and have three daughters, etc.” We practiced a bit. Then the producer I was with said that the cameras were rolling and I literally forgot my name, just like I was on some dorky sitcom. :happytv: Anyway somehow I muddled through that part. Most of the panelists had some degree of nerves about the video shoot, (though I hear that Bret was cool as a cucumber) so try to keep that in mind when you’re laughing about how goofy we look on the site. :goofy: We also were shot by a still photographer alone, and with Mickey, ::MickeyMo and with a special surprise visitor (not sure we’re allowed disclose who so I’ll leave that for later).

When that part was over, we had two blissful hours to play in the MK. The park was not too crowded so we made good time and were able to experience several attractions.

Then back on the bus to the hotel.

Wow! Sounds like Disney went above and beyond for you folks on this trip!

We all know how the CMs make you feel special and important just being a regular guest - I can't imagine how special and exciting this trip would have been!

Thanks so much Erin for the detailed reports! Keep them coming!

Quick change again back at CSR. Then another bus to Epcot. Dinner in Italy. More CMs to meet. More food (yummy), more wine (more yummy). :thumbsup2 Did I mention that I need to make friends with my treadmill? ;) Then to the VIP seating at the Candlelight Processional. The guest narrator was Grammy winning artist Steven Curtis Chapman. :cool1: The procession was beautiful and moving. Then to another VIP area where we had a special viewing area for Illuminations. Champagne toast, dessert bar. (A girl could get used to a life like this!) They had to kick us out of Epcot because we were so busy chatting with each other.

Bus back to CSR and the most of the CMs bid us goodnight and goodbye. Almost all the panelists stayed for an hour more at the bar, talking about how much fun we were having and talking about life on the Panel. I finally got back to my room at about 12:30 am and didn’t fall asleep for an hour after that.

Then on to Tuesday – departure day.

Some of the Panelists had early flights so we said goodbye to them Monday night. :sad2: Six of us die-hards (me, Bret, Kara, Michelle, Heather, and Heather) were up at the crack of dawn on Tuesday and on the 7:30 am bus to Extra Magic at Epcot. (Not even sure why I bothered to go to sleep). We were able to do Soarin and Test Track as a group. Then we splintered off to do our own thing. I think a few went off to see the holiday decorations at the GF. Bret said he was going to go to the MK AND Downtown Disney before the car came to get him at the CSR at 1:00. (Not sure how that turned out.:lmao: )

I went back to the CSR at about 11:30, strolled around to check out the pool (no swim time during the trip), and had a sandwich. A Disney car came to pick up Heather1 and I at 12:30 (our flights were close together) and we said goodbye at the airport. :sad1:

My magic continued through my on-time flight that landed 20 mins early at LGA (never before in my life has this happened).:yay:

So, that was the trip.

In retrospect, it’s difficult to believe that all this even was real. It truly was every Disney dream I ever imagine rolled into one. Every cast member we dealt with was wonderful! The panelists were all great, warm, funny, down-to-earth people.:grouphug: I really think we have a great group. And we’re all really looking forward to the site launch and getting started on our job of helping people plan their Disney trips. We’re taking our mission seriously we’re going to work our tails off to make you all proud.:thumbsup2

See you on the site …

Erin

TR? Not sure what that stands for.:rotfl:

Most of us are back home now. It will be hard to come back to reality. The experience was "once in a lifetime" to say the least. Also I just have to share what an amazing group of gals this panel includes (I clearly was just put on the panel to make them all look even better in comparison!;) )

Hopefully you DISers will understand if we take a little bit of time to re-adjust, absorb, breath, hug our families, try to get some sleep (not happening for me right now!), etc. over the next few days.

I'll look into posting a photo or two soon, but want to make sure all the other gals are OK with it first.

-Bret

Welcome back! Take the time to get back to reality and then keep us as updated as you can whenever you have a chance, I'm sure it will be worth the wait!

Hi all,
Sounds like our panelists had a fantastic time. I can't wait to hear all about it.
I just wanted to stop in quickly to say I haven't dropped of the face of the earth. I haven't checked in for awhile because the whole family has been sick with a nasty cold. On top of that, trying to get ready to leave for Disney Sat. and having everything ready for Christmas when we get back has been a bit stressful.
So did you all get any tips at MVMCP? We are going on 12/20. Did you get to ride Spaceship Earth? You guys get some rest. I'll try to check back in before we leave.:santa:

I hope everyone is feeling better and you can get ready for your trip! Hopefully you got all the sickies out of the way now and everyone will be well while you are there and for Christmas!

Erin, thank you so much for the TR and Bret, thank you so much for the pictures to go along with it! Your trip sounds awesome and I am looking forward to checking out the site once it's up and running!

All I can say is WOW!!! What an awesome few days ya all must have had. I agree with pp that it ranks as a top five in your life.

I am so looking forward to checking out the panel. Thanks for sharing.

Suz

WOW what an experience! I love reading all the details and the photos are just eye candy for the rest of us!

Bret I am really sorry that you did not get a pink jacket. I think you really should complain to the head mouse about that!:cool1:

The photos that show all the cameras made me take a sharp breath in. :goodvibes That had to be really thrilling and scary all at the same time. I thin I would have changed clothes and hair styles way too many times and ended up missing the bus.:rotfl:

Thanks so much for sharing this with all of us. I am sitting here with a big grin on my face and living vicariously through each of you!:cloud9:

Wow, what a blast!

I am so proud of you all and very appreciative that you were able to share your experience with us!

I know I have been a horrible supporter, but things got insane with us. We did have a wonderful 9 day trip to Mexico. We took my MIL and FIL with us to celebrate MIL's 60th birthday.

The trip was wonderful and warm and sunny and we had a great time. So much so that for the first time I didn't think about missing out on the wonderful opportunity on the Moms Panel.

Since we came back, I lost my assistant at work. She was my right arm, so I have been extremly busy trying to get by without her. My kids and I have all been soooooooo sick. We actually had 4 doctor visits in one week and I couldn't hear out of my left ear for 10 days! YUCKY! We have a counter full of medications and finally we are on the mend. (Knock on wood for me please!)

As they say, things happen for a reason and I am not sure that I would have been able to go in the end. And as JoRy mentioned, I really did need to get back to work and regular life for a little bit. But now, I am ready to watch the moms panel unfold and I can not wait to see your site and you guys in person!!!!

Anyway, it seems like you guys had the MOST amazing time. I can't wait to see who your special guest was.

Off to bed, have a great week everyone and Happy Holidays!

All I can say is: WOW. Bret, the picture you posted of the camera shoot puts this all into perspective. It was a HUGE event! I'm so glad you guys had a great time. And I thought the excitement was dying down for MOMS panel. I think your pics and Erin's posts have stirred things up again!

Erin: your comment about forgetting your name for the bio shoot cracked me up! It brought visions of the interview back to me (you know, that darn interview I wish I could redo every day since it happened..ugh!)! I can only imagine how nervous you all were. But I'm sure you all did fine!

Oh, and that chocolate slipper.....yum!!

PoohMomof5: nice to hear from you again...maybe it's in the cards for us for the next round...I sure hope so! Keep your faith.

Wow Guys!!!
Sounds like you all had a blast. That's it, next time I'm going anyway even if they don't pick me. I could be the fan club following you guys around (Erin, you could really feel like a rock star then) Who knows just maybe they would like me enough to reconsider giving me the boot after round 2:rotfl: No really, I'm glad you all had a good time. I'll check back in later (or the girls will be late for school, ya know those "Catholic Teachers" look at ya funny when your kid is late) and it would really be bad if one of the girls said I was talking Disney at 7am after all we took them out for a week already to go visit the place!!!:thumbsup2
Julie

Oh my gosh! Thanks for the wonderful photos and write-ups!
I bet you couldn't believe how quickly the time went. Come on, who was the special guest? If it was Hannah Montana or anyone from HSM, I will seriously cry!

Disney really went all out! I bet you guys still can't believe what you experienced! I am so thankful we have this site so you can make us feel a part of it all! I know I keep saying thanks, but thanks a million times! Thanks to Disney for letting you post things.

I must say....WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW!

Off for final plans for the event at dd's school I am planning....400 + people coming to see Santa tonight with crafts, store, food, etc....so I am stressing a little bit...hoping it turns out like we planned...cross your fingers for me!

Leslie
semi finalist for the "pink jackets"..sorry Brett!
****Wait, is this like a "Grease thing"? PINK LADIES!

OK, just a few more photos.

Here was a nice surprise waiting for us in the hotel room on Saturday night when we got back to the rooms (the famous pink/blue jackets were in this package, as well as lots of Moms Panel branded goodies)...
IMG_6645.jpg

Tuesday morning was the first time I was on my own for a meal. I went to the Pepper Market in the Coronado hotel...
IMG_6848.jpg

Our smaller group that went park touring on Tuesday (aren't they so cute?!)...
IMG_6852.jpg

Back to day-1, when we arrived at MCO, we were each met by different CMs at the baggage claim area. It was an amazing touch - making you feel immersed in the Magic from arrival until departure. Also amazing, was the fact that the same CM who met me at the airport, also took me back at the end of the week. It was fun to be able to share with her many of the things that had happened over these amazing days. She was great! Clearly someone who understands the magic of WDW. Here she is waiting for departure  at the Coronado...
IMG_6867.jpg

OK, that's all I have for photos. Hope you all enjoy them. Thanks Erin, for the great naration, and thanks to everyone for following along and supporting us. You guys have been central to making this experience so special!!:grouphug:

-Bret

No no, the surprise visitor was not Miley or anyone from HSM. I think that if I had met them and my kids weren't there, then they wouldn't have let me back in the house.

We panelists did have a "pink ladies" discussion about the jackets but decided that the Grease pink ladies were much too racy for Disney so we would just not go there.

I'm going to have to go back to my non-panel life for a bit. My girls have been rehearsing for months for a big dance musical review show. The performance is supposed to be on Sunday afternoon. But the weather forecast is for a major storm then. We're in the midst of a mini-crisis about if/when to reschedule.

Thanks everyone for being so interested. We very much appreciate your enthusiasm for the panel!

E

Okay I have been hiding my envy up to this point but now that is see you got to have time with Mickey Mouse all to yourselves...... well that put me over the edge! I am out and out jealous of you all! :goodvibes :mickeyjum The Mouse just for you? :woohoo:

Gosh I am such a kid! That would so thrill me!:rolleyes1

I can't wait for your website to open. I have it all bookmarked already.

It has been so nice that you have shared your photos and experiences with us all. What a neat experience for us all! Thank you!

So are there plans for you all to return as a group again?

Thanks for the amazing update. I am so happy there were disboard members on the panel!!! Keep up the great work. Represent us well!!!:dance3:

Well since I already spilled it on another board, I guess I'll spill it here too. Our surprise guest was SOOOOOOO much better than I could have ever imagined. We got to meet, have group photos, and then individual photos, not to mention a few minutes to actually chit-chat with none other than.................................

MEG CROFTON!!! :cool1:

It was amazing. She's gorgeous, classy, approachable, very nice and gracious...just amazing. It was such a huge honor to get to meet her.

(For anyone living under a rock who doesn't know her ;) , she's the President of WDW http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meg_Crofton)

I've been away from all the boards for a while too. My middle daughter was very sick and I didn't have any free time. Thankfully she got better in time for me to be able to make the trip - one of the most amazing experiences of my life so far. I'm so excited!!!

Oh, I recognize that name quite well...if you remember she was quoted in the original announcement of the MOMS panel....OK, so I added two words. :)

As part of "The Year of a Million Dreams," Disney announced today the
launch of a nationwide search for moms who have mastered the art of
planning a Walt Disney World vacation. Twelve finalists ... "Through our consumer research we know that there are aspects of a Walt
Disney World vacation that can be challenging to the primary vacation
planner, most often that means mom, or Bret," said Meg Crofton, president of Walt
Disney World Resort. "We could not think of a better way to provide
vacation planning advice than to create an online forum. This will assist
guests who are looking for real and reliable vacation recommendations that
fit their family's travel needs."
