Kim,

My DH and I are running in the race with you guys!
I'm scared of the heat also!!!! Today I got in my car and the thermostat said 101. I must admit I HATE running even at 8:00pm in this heat.

.......

Kim

Congratulations to you and the rest of the Panel! You have done a wonderful job with the Panel! You must be so happy to be able to continue with your "work"! Maybe you will even get to go on an extra trip! I am really happy for you! :goodvibes

Thanks for the kind words. I'm sure this is bittersweet news to many of you. I also suspect that many of you already had a good idea that we would continue for another 6 months. :confused3

Rest assured that as far as we know we are all on the chopping block come January (now it's your turn to be happy, and ours to be very sad!!:worried: ).

Yes, we do all get a second family vacation to take in 2009, as several of the press articles have mentioned. I guess that will help keep our spirits up next year a bit.

Overall the timeframe aspect of this opportunity gives me a :headache: and makes me

Well, no matter how you guys feel, Brett--you have done a spectacular job, and the fact that you guys are on these boards, is the cherry on top of the sundae.

It makes us feel like we are on the board with you guys! Thanks, as always, for keeping us "in the loop!"

I do use an iPod for the car -- I use the "radio tuner device thingy" in one car, and in the other car the stereo has a input jack that connects with the iPod.

-Bret

I got an iPod and a thingy on my way home tonight. The iPod has to charge for a while before I can use it. I can't wait. Thanks for the tip!

Congratulations, again! I wish the Panel would become bigger, the new members would enjoy being part of your group, I am sure. Keep up the good work.

Hey 3-D-B (and the rest of the panel) - this is GREAT news for you all! Congratulations! I think we all know (especially Leanne & company) that you've all gone above and beyond the call of duty and this is well deserved! We are proud of you!

Hopefully some of us here will on the next panel. In a way it's good that they are holding off a few months...can you imagine trying to film a biography in the heat/humidity...talk about bad hair days! :rotfl2:

I just hope Leanne/Duncan remember they told the finalists from the last round that we wouldn't have to start from the beginning...too much stress!

You guys know that I've have enjoyed learning about your experiences, but thanks for REALLY thinking of us and understanding!!!:goodvibes

I am thrilled you guys are being extended and thrilled that the panel was such a success. That is definitely due to you guys doing such a great job!!

I am equally happy to hear that there is a chance for another contest. I think I read late summer!!! I wasn't a finalist and that kind of bums my out, I wish we could get a fresh start!!

Enjoy your extention and better yet getting another trip for all your work!!! You guys deserve it!!:wizard:

How Exciting!!!! What a compliment to you all, a contract extension.... And another trip, talk about more icing on the cake.:dance3: Like I said, I will apply again except this time I will start the nightly glass of wine from the beginning (I'll have to do something to calm the nerves)

Kim, I think we need to do more than wish cool thoughts. Is it possible to hope for a cool front in September? The fact that we are running at night will surely help, but knowing the heat (Houston heat) I'M SCARED.

Kristen,

Let me know how your "thingy" works. My kids gave me a nano for Mother's Day (so I can train for the EEC) and I have yet to get a "thingy" for the car. Hey..... the DH has an Iphone, maybe.... he could get a "thingy for Father's Day;) Double Whammy.

Congratulations everyone. You must be very proud of your accomplishments and to be asked to extend your time with the panel.

Alos, enjoy your trip!

I hope since we DISers have supporting you from the beginning, you will suppport us when it comes time for the next contest and selection process. Any tips will be appreciated....;)

Again, congratulations!

Wow! 'Nothing like a bit of exciting news to bring everyone out of the woodwork!! (I'm loving all of the recent activity in this thread! :teeth:)

Congratulations, Panelists, on your contract extensions! (It truly comes as no surprise, considering all of your hard work to make the Disney Moms Panel a success! :thumbsup2 The Disney execs know a good thing when they see one! In fact, I suspect there will be much weeping and gnashing of teeth -- from the Disney bosses, not just the Panelists ;) -- once it's time to let you go.)

Again, congrats!

Oh, and because I'm naturally curious... :rolleyes1 I hope you don't mind my asking, but I was wondering: How did the Disney folks break the exciting news to you??

My first multi-quote reply! :)

I wouldn't be surprised if some of our MOMs were involved in the selection process and training...it would make sense, right? Keeping the MOMs brand...

What an interesting question!!

:woohoo: YAY! :woohoo: 'Gotta love the multi-quote!!

Hmmm.... That's a good point!

At the very least, I'm wondering if they'd participate in the training session -- to provide sort of a "passing the torch" exercise and to promote a seamless transition. :confused3

You have to figure: The original twelve Panelists are Disney "pioneers"; they set the pace and helped work out the kinks. (And -- once again -- I'm reminded that they will be a tough act to follow... :scared: For the sake of the new team of Panelists, I'm hoping -- as you suggested -- that they'll serve as helpful resources! :thumbsup2 )

I completely agree with you all.:thumbsup2

Maybe the panelist will be allowed to participate in the selection process. You guys are right, the next group of panelist have some really big shoes to fill. Anyone up for a challenge? Talk about pressure.

Jennifer- congrats on the "Boy".

You guys really are the best! These amazingly kind words mean so much from you guys who are "in the know." So special!

As far as the "break the news" thing goes, it didn't really go that way exactly. What happened was, several weeks ago, the CMs asked us if we WANTED to continue on for another six months. Can you imagine??? We were given some time to decide, but I think Leanne had at least half a dozen "yes" emails in her inbox within the hour. Obviously all of us decided to stay on. (Shocking, I know :rotfl2: ).

As far as what's happening with the next group, we really have no idea. I think many of us would LOVE to help train the next crew or work on the selection process, or sell popcorn at the Magic Kingdom, anything really. But as far as we know, we are, as Mr. Ratboy so eloquently put it :lmao: , "on the chopping block." That's what we're all expecting to be the case. I'm just grateful to have had the experience for a year.

Also, we don't know anything about the selection process for MP2 other than what Laura said in the interview posted earlier (and even that was news to many of us). If we get any info we can share, we'll certainly pass it along.

And with that EE5K thing ... can I just say I am TERRIFIED about this. I was NEVER an athelete. I am the ultimate school newspaper, drama club, yearbook committee kinda gal. I was never into sports or exercise at all. But everyone on the Panel was so enthusiastic about the race, that I couldn't say no. I've been training for about 2 months so far. And I'm proud to say that earlier this week I ran 2.5 consecutive miles for the first time in my life. I think in another 2 weeks I'll be able to do a full 3 miles. Then, I'm going to get off the treadmill and take the running outside for the summer so that I'll be OK in the FL heat. So, in addition to the great life experience, cool trips to Disney, and meeting so many fabulous people online and off, I can add an improvement in my health to the list of benefits of being on the Moms Panel!

WOW a 2009 Disney Mom's Search..what great news...hopefully we won't have to go through the "process" again, but I'm excited to see what the future holds!

Sooo exciting to hear what the panelists are doing with their trips, etc., especially since I'm more of a lurker/reader than a poster here on the Dis! But what a great time I've had reading!!

What a great way to start this HOT Tuesday with some great news!

Thanks for sharing!

Congrats to the Mom's and 3D-Dad! You guys certainly have done a fantastic job!

Welcome back, Marleen! :wave2: (If I recall correctly, you're from the Hampton Roads area, right?) I grew up in Virginia Beach, and my folks still live there. ("it's a small world...")

Too funny Erin.... I just ran my first two miles a few weeks ago. I was also on the newspaper, yearbook staff (hence the love for advertising and marketing). I was never the athlete, instead the dancer so the endurance thing I can handle. The running part.... Well, I'm trying. I'm confident that with all the support we'll all make it through. Who knows we may even sweat off a few extra pounds:rotfl: :rotfl:
