Adults only resort on property

To clarify, if Disney built a resort that catered only to adults: Would you stay there? Why or why not?

Just curious...

OP I may have read your wording wrong. I thought you were asking which WDW resort you'd stay at for adult only trip.:confused3. Not on site vs off site.

There seems to be some confusion as to what you mean

My kids are adults in their 20's and we'd always choose to stay on site. Either in a moderate or deluxe.

Many reasons, we love to stay inside WDW for the perks of free airport pick up, extra magic hours, no need to rent a car, WDW has good resort to park transportation, parcel delivery to your resort. When we go to WDW, we just do that while in Orlando. It's a huge park, and even with 10+ days I never run out of things to do.

Also we like taking a mid day pool break so its very easy to do staying on site.

I believe she's saying if Disney built an adult-only resort, ON Disney property.
(Not an existing resort, on Disney property, being converted to adults-only.)

Yes, I'd stay there. My kids are grown.

But when my kids have kids, and if we go back to WDW, we obviously wouldn't.

I would want it to be either value or moderate, probably moderate, so that it's more affordable.

-stewed prunes on the breakfast menu?:lmao:
-mimosas on the breakfast menu? :thumbsup2
-REAL coffee
-instead of kid's clubs in the evening how about masseuses giving foot and leg massages for guests returning from the parks?
-instead of disney movies by the pool, how about live music by the pool bar (which would be open til midnight).
-ALL the pools are quiet pools
-The resort is a hub and spoke arrangement with the main building in the center so that no room is a hike to the dining areas.

For the over 65 crowd:
-Maybe a "People Mover" ride that takes you to all areas of the resort
-Comfort height (high) toilets
-Nice lounge with oldies music
-Everyone has to dress in "assisted living" clothing
-All waiters have to speak very loud when explaining the specials on the menu

And 4:15 dinner special that includes baked haddock and a cup of sanka.

I am torn about this question; I think the kids really enhance the experience and I have also been around a few adults who I prefer not to be around - read my post about bringing a smoker along - but I would like an adults only resort. I am married with no kids.

It would be kinda like the adult beach at Castaway Cay on the cruise. Some of the features at the other resorts I like:

Beach with cabanas and service
Signature dining experience where you meet the chef and see them prepare your meal
Over the top spa.
Concierge level
Character interaction or CM interaction; maybe shadowing someone who works there.
Solo or single meet and greet.
BINGO tournaments!
Dance night by one of the pool areas until really late at night
Band or DJ night
Room service

The list could go on and on.

That is a good one.

At least one night liver and onions.....

Even better would be if they had an adult only hotel and a kids only hotel. It could be like the kids clubs, but you drop them off for the length of your trip and meet up with them for dinner and such. :scratchin

I hope it is obvious that I am joking.

Actually, Disney cruise line has a kids program where you drop them off and you get a pager to keep in touch and they catch up with you at meals and such.

A friend of mine took his two kids and could barely drag them out to even eat with them and they were 4 and 6 years old.

Dress code to include socks with sandals at all times...preferably black socks.

Two nights...and a doggie bag for the left overs and extra rolls.

OMG, and the creamer and sugar packets. You are making me think of my grandmother now...the one that kept used kleenex tucked in her sleeve.

Boy, did we go downhill fast or what. Sorry, OP, your intentions on this question were wonderful. Shows at our age, we still have a sense of humor about facing that time someday.

But I have to close with a place where you can say, "When I was your age" and you can quote the price of everything when you were growing up.

I love the idea! An adult only resort would be wonderful...and I have three great kids! For those that say Disney is not Disney without kids around....don't worry, the parks would be full of them! This would be a resort only for adults.

We are going for our 20th anniversary in the fall. I would love to be able to stay somewhere that caters to adults.

Isn't there a section at Castaway Cay for adults only on cruises? This would be no different.

Sounds good to me :)

I would try an adult-only resort. I bet the pool would be a much more relaxing experience! Maybe they could even offer rooms with jacuzzis like so many other resorts (off property) do.

I would also like it to have a retro-arcade with classic games from the 80s. Kids these days won't play those, but I know a ton of adults who would love it!

And 4:15 dinner special that includes baked haddock and a cup of sanka.

All I could see in my mind was the Family Guy episode with the old ladies singing..."Don't you wanna Sanka?" That is classic!

Yes-I would SOOOOOOO stay at an adult-only hotel, even in an adult-only wing, at Disney. I love my kiddos but I also like my DH. It's nice to have big people time.

We've raised our only son and now he has two kids of his own and live 800 miles away so our trips to Disney World with kids are few and far between.

That being said, I don't think I would be interested in staying at an adults only Disney resort. I love seeing kids having fun and enjoying something that's been special in my life since I was 15 years old (I'm now 50). Can kids get loud and obnoxious? Heck yeah but then again, so can adults. Why would an adult only resort be any better? I can see drinking parties by the pool, I can hear the loud music from the rooms, etc. Adults are no better than kids, maybe they could be even worse since kids at least can be told "no" but adults, not so much. Kids aren't going to come back with "I paid $X for this trip and I'll do what I darn well want to!".

I would not. Just because it is "adult only" doesn't mean it will be quiet and relaxing. I have had more issues with loud and annoying adults then I have had with kids at the resorts.

Yep. Been there three times. Did the massage in the cabana with the glass of champagne with chocolate covered strawberries...priceless.

Would absolutely stay there, for the quiet.... Unless it had a large bar/lounge in which case it would be loud but I wouldn't care!
