Adult pool lovers like me, are you insanely disappointed with the Wish's design??

I understand your point. But my husband and I began sailing with Disney, back in 2005 on the Wonder. And the best part of this experience, was that our 3 kids, had their fun space and we had our own fun adult space. So I'm not sure I agree with your view point, because the Castaway C itineraries are the exact ones we went on and still loved the adult spaces at the same time. The only rule we had with our kids, was we always had to meet at dinner and we got to have amazing adult time. So for them to minimize this, with a tiny pool makes no sense to me. Make the folks that are actually PAYING for the cruises first, make that the priority. So the kids clubs are terrific, but where do the adults go to relax? Pay up for the day spa, is that what they're saying? Because surely we can't relax at this pool.

Also a valid point. I think the big thing is that people who prefer more adult space will most likely prefer the classic ships or even the dream/fantasy. If they give every ship the same layout/amount of kids vs adults space/etc then the ships would essentially be the same.

I'm sure Disney does an absurd amount of research before they drop the money to build these new ships. They obviously saw a need for the space to be utilized in a different way to increase their profits. In the end The Wish will not be everyone's favorite! If it ends up not being yours, you get the luxury of a hopefully less crowded ship on the Magic or Dream class!

There is a small pool on deck 5 forward in front of Senses. Do we think this will be part of senses or possibly an adult only area?

In the mockup it has two small round pools, 4 chairs, and there is exterior walkways to it from both sides of the ships from what I assume will be the adult area of the ship.

I was really hoping the pool and sundeck on 14 was going to be like Satellite Falls, more or less. There are just not enough adult areas for us as it is shown now. I hope the next Triton class ship will be for longer sailings where catering to adults will be more important. This ship is clearly shooting for the 3/4 night family cruise where they won’t have time for a lot of extra stuff. That makes sense. We may try it just for the novelty, but I think the Fantasy stays our favorite and we are looking at Celebrity for future cruises. Not thrilled with the changes to the Palo/Remy dining. For us it’s been death by a thousand cuts. After 20 DCL cruises (and 3 more booked right now), half in concierge, I’m ready to give Celebrity a shot in a suite.

I agree. Kinda bummed about the lack of set aside deck space for Adults - will probably make me not want to sail on the Wish for adults only trips, but will be great for our larger family trips! The Fantasy is a favorite of ours as well! We tend to cruise concierge, so depending on prices the Wish may not be a bad option for us since the concierge pool deck seems to be bigger than the existing ships. Also bummed about the changes to the adult only restaurants.

That being said, I am right there with you about trying out other cruise lines that cater more to adults vs families! Just havent taken the plunge yet!

I was interested in this area as well. Not clearly marked, so it is hard to tell what it will be used for!

I don't book based on the ship. I book based on destination and time. I'd rather cruise for a week and go somewhere cool than do a little weekend one. It's way too much effort getting on and off these ships to not stay at least 5 days.

We get a Frozen and Marvel restaurants, but the best we can get for Star Wars is a bar. That's a let down. And I'm curious if there will be any menu changes for the two adults only restaurants.

I have a hope because I think Deck 5 is going to be Adults only in the forward section (Senses, that area, two "TBA" locations) as well as the full deck becoming adults only in the evening. This would solve for the "adults areas are empty" during the day but still give adults 2 set areas attached to an exterior location that they can set up shop.

Hoping for more in the next week or two on the adult areas.

Ya the DIS show saying they think it will be 4 or 5 days is a little depressing. Sure I can go over to WDW (if they have APs back) but would likely prefer a 7/8 night trip instead.

Well I just saw on the site the trips. Wow very depressing there isn't a single longer cruise at all. Maybe could do a back to back though.

I agree! I avoid the 3/4 night cruises at all costs. Just when you start to relax, you have to pack up and go.

I am hopeful to go on the Wish at some point maybe with my niece and nephews who have never cruised before. That would be a great starting point for them. Without them, I dont have a desire to go on the Wish until they settle in for a few longer sailings!

Honestly, It looks really small in the renderings but hopefully it will be larger in real life. Personal Opinion: The pool on the Dream/Fantasy is a decent size, any smaller though and it would be problematic. I've never really "Swam" in the pools on the ships much because they are smaller.

There is a "Deck 15" labeled on the interactive plans. Hopefully that will be something for adults only?

With the Dream relocating to Miami, there is no surprise here that the Wish is taking over the 3/4 night sailings. Time will tell what happens with the next ships.

Not to add more fuel to the fire, but based on the plans for lighthouse point (the new island) there is nothing marked as adults only on the new island either. Hopefully that will change.

We choose to sail DCL because of the great adults only areas and the fact the DCL actually enforces the rules. If that changes then why would we still sail on DCL? Our worst cruise in terms of out of control kids was a Celebrity cruise. It had kids so out of control it was actually dangerous to passengers and Celebrity did nothing. The adult areas on a cruise ship are only as good as the enforcement.

I've just accepted that the Wish isn't for me. I agree about the adult pool area being a real disappointment. Frankly, the pool areas in general don't look particularly exciting. The dining is also just too much for me (I really don't want to eat dinner with The Avengers). With rotational dining not being assigned until you're on the ship, there's really no way to schedule around avoiding those locations (other than eating at Cabanas, though they've said nothing about Cabanas...). Even the staterooms -- while they look luxurious -- just strike me as a little too in your face.

I much prefer the subtly and elegance of the other ships, especially the Dream and the Fantasy, but this is the direction DCL is moving in. The Wish will work really well in the Bahamas as a companion to a WDW trip but place her (or a sister ship) in Europe or Alaska and I don't think it works as well. Thankfully, we're still decades away from that. While I'll reserve judgement until she debuts, I'm also not spending $5,000 on a cruise that I'm skeptical about.

Wait, is there even going to be a cabanas? Is that on the deck plans?

I agree about the dining. A Frozen musical dinner show sounds like torture. And Avengers for dinner is just bizarre all around.

While I'm disappointed overall in what I saw today - particularly when it comes to adult spaces - I think that's an important point. Worried how crowded the pool areas will be on a sea day? Well, on a 3-night, there aren't any sea days (and there's just one on the 4-night). So like you said, not a lot of time for extra activities. A 3-night gives you 2 "full" days where you wake up and go to bed on the ship. And most will be off the ship those two days between breakfast & dinner times (less so in Nassau than CC, but still). So how much need is there to keep people occupied during the daytime hours? You're right it will be interesting to see if the next ship will offer some differences if it is intended for longer itineraries. Or will they switch the Wish to longer sailings and always have the newest ship doing the 3/4 rotation? Obviously, they did not do that with the Dream & Fantasy.

But you actually want to go to them. This ship is a let down. And I was so excited to learn about it today.

I watched the preview and immediately thought that I will be booking the Dream or Fantasy (Or Magic and Wonder) before I book the Wish. I do love the new staterooms though.

I think the adult pool seems too close to the lounge seating too, at least in the rendering. Not that you’d have all that much of a private conversation in the pool but it would feel weird to be sitting/standing? with your spouse in there and turn around to see someone right next to you, dressed nice and having a cocktail. I’m self-conscious enough in a swimsuit.
And the man & woman having the cocktail in the picture look like they’re just a couple feet from a dude’s naked back. Seems weird. And they’d also better watch out in case he splashes. :)

Maybe the next ship will do Star Wars restaurant instead of the marvel space.
