Adult pool lovers like me, are you insanely disappointed with the Wish's design??

Not just the pool area. The whole ship....Unless there's a surprise reveal for one of the "More Magic Coming..." areas on the deck plan at the DCL website, it looks like there's no more after-hours areas for adults only.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I have many friends on social media going crazy about it, but my reaction was thats its pretty much like all the other ships, but with slightly different themes. Nothing amazingly new and innovative...

I'm thinking the "Luna" area might be used as adults only at night. Might be used like the current D-Lounge family areas during the day and transform into adults only areas during the night for the typical adult only gameshows/performances/fun and maybe some new entertainment options as well. Obviously just speculation at this point.
It seems to me like a lot of the lounge areas will convert to adults-only at night rather than having a dedicated adults-only area of the ship. If that's true it makes a lot of sense to me--areas like D-Lounge are often pretty dead after dinner time--but I'm not sure I love it ... I kind of like being able to go to an adults corner of the ship and stay there.

I completely agree, it is nice to have the oasis of a full time no kids area. I am thinking that often times having 4-5 bars/adults only areas was a bit much for a Disney ship even though the areas are loved by the guests. These areas never seemed to be even close to full capacity on the 10+ cruises we have done. Maybe that factored into the decision to have more multi use spaces?

Regardless, I think this ship will definitely be different from what we are used to. With that the Magic and Wonder are very different from the Dream and Fantasy as well. Having some differences in these ships and differences in how the square footage is used will allow everyone to have a ship that they feel more drawn to!

Your last sentence is why I have a problem with the Wish's layout as presented. During my last 3 cruises, there were kids (and indignant parents who thought they could break the rules) who were being kicked out of the adult themed areas - especially when there was an adult-only activity. If the adult areas aren't as segregated, I can see this being a bigger issue.

It's a little disheartening to see these adult-only areas being deemphasized.

Frankly, I am disappointed in the whole ship but especially so with adult only areas. Since I do not travel with kids, I will not be willing to pay Disney premium for what was shown today.

I remember when Disney was about imagination. This is a rehash of different things seen before on different ships or theme parks and mashed together. They picked their most profitable IPs and put them together instead of thinking up NEW ideas. It’s like when a TV show says it’s a new show, but it’s just clips from past episodes with a little bit of fluff in between. It’s boring.

I know plenty of people will be drooling over this ship and anything and everything Disney does, and they will rave about the magic, and they will chastise me for making a judgment before all of the special super secret magical details are revealed. But I am quickly coming to the point where I can see my future without Disney; and although I will miss the things that were special, most of them are already gone (true creativity and imagination being chief among them along with actual skill to make drawings come to life by hand without using computers). I will hold out hope, but deep down, I think the current Disney company will eventually end up a victim to its own greed. I just hope someone in the Disney family or someone who truly loves the original spirit of Disney will pick up the mantle and revive the pieces when that happens.

What looked the best in the video were the high end rooms. But I do really want to pay up for a suite?

I think something to keep in mind is the new ships will almost always be doing the typical Bahamas, Castaway route since this is the most popular and accessible route for families with children. The smaller, older class ships have so many more sailing options including itineraries like Alaska, Panama Canal, Mediterranean, Northern Europe/Russia cruises where the larger class ships cannot fit in ports! These itineraries tend to pull in more adult only cruisers and less families with smaller children.

It makes sense from a business perspective that these new ships will cater highly towards family with kids (especially being a family dominated cruise line.) All this said, we dont have kids and cruise adults only, so I understand what you are saying. I think as time goes on and the fleet grows, there will be some reimagination of the older ships that might include increasing adults only areas for sailings that cater towards that demographic.

Also there seems to be a ton that hasn't been announced for the wish and computer renderings are not the most accurate. Only time will tell what these new ships will truly be like, but worst case scenario you have older ships that cater more towards adults only spaces!

I'm a little bit confused about all the "secret areas" still to be unveiled. Do they want people to book this cruise or not? Why would we book only knowing half of the things this ship will offer? It seems weird. Do we think they will unveil this stuff before the booking window opens?

Exactly. The rooms look great, but I'd rather have the one suite Royal with the slide in and your own butler... 😂

Again, I started this thread about the adult POOL size, not the whole adult area. Am I the only one that thinks that it is an absolute ridiculous small size, given the amount of adults that want to use it on a day at sea? Computer generated or not, its not going to get any bigger. So, so disappointing.

I agree, wish it was bigger but I don't think it is as small as it appear in some of the renders. In the video where you see 2 "people" in the pool, that is NOT to scale. Look at how wide the pool is with respect to the width of the overall ship. My guess is that the pool will be at least as big as the adult pool on the Dream/Fantasy.

Full disclosure - we prefer cruising on other cruise lines rather than Disney (just our preference!), but I completely agree with the adult pool disappointment. That entire space looks cramped! I understand we aren't necessarily the target demographic, but I can't believe that idea was given the OK.

The other spaces look stunning as I expected they would, but as adults who spend a ton of time in adult pools and areas, it's pretty lackluster. I'm hoping it's just the renderings and not drawn to scale, because we would love to give the Wish a try in the future.

I understand your point. But my husband and I began sailing with Disney, back in 2005 on the Wonder. And the best part of this experience, was that our 3 kids, had their fun space and we had our own fun adult space. So I'm not sure I agree with your view point, because the Castaway C itineraries are the exact ones we went on and still loved the adult spaces at the same time. The only rule we had with our kids, was we always had to meet at dinner and we got to have amazing adult time. So for them to minimize this, with a tiny pool makes no sense to me. Make the folks that are actually PAYING for the cruises first, make that the priority. So the kids clubs are terrific, but where do the adults go to relax? Pay up for the day spa, is that what they're saying? Because surely we can't relax at this pool.

Have you ever seen the size of the adult pool on the Oasis OTS? That pool is like a bathtub.

The Dream's pool is awful too, its absolutely a crowded MESS on sea days. They did it right on the Magic and Wonder. After that, it progressively got worse. I can't imagine this pool is bigger than the Dream's, it looks horrific to hold the number of people that want it on sea days.

I was really hoping the pool and sundeck on 14 was going to be like Satellite Falls, more or less. There are just not enough adult areas for us as it is shown now. I hope the next Triton class ship will be for longer sailings where catering to adults will be more important. This ship is clearly shooting for the 3/4 night family cruise where they won’t have time for a lot of extra stuff. That makes sense. We may try it just for the novelty, but I think the Fantasy stays our favorite and we are looking at Celebrity for future cruises. Not thrilled with the changes to the Palo/Remy dining. For us it’s been death by a thousand cuts. After 20 DCL cruises (and 3 more booked right now), half in concierge, I’m ready to give Celebrity a shot in a suite.

I'm intrigued with these Celebrity cruises. Are they all adult? Just maybe we should start looking at those and say goodbye to Disney, now that our kids are adults.
