There have been posts on this board about children and teens acting-up. Has anyone ever noticed adults exhibting risque behavior?
On our recent cruise my DH and I noticed a couple in the hot tub in various stages of undress and acting in a very amorous manner. Now I realise that this is in the adult area of the deck and it was late at night, but does DCL police this sort of thing? Has anyone seen this kind of thing before?

Yes ! Late one evening (about 11:30 P.M.), a very intoxicated young woman undressed for a dip in the hot tub. She left her clothes on a deck chair, which the teens, who began to congregate, subsequently moved to a "new" location. She was putting on a show for the youngsters...I'll leave it at that. :earseek: When she got out of the tub, she wandered around naked for about 5 minutes (without a care and refused assistance several times), until an acquaintance of hers saw her and forced her to cover up with a towel. Her husband / boyfreind??, who was called in their cabin, came up shortly to fetch her - he was not amused. :sad2:

Oh my goodness! I would be horrified if my DS saw such a scene. However, tonight, it provided me with a good laugh (very much needed after reading some of the other threads on the boards this evening). :rotfl: Hope I don't ever see this kind of stuff, but hearing it's kind of fun! ;)

That would be horrible, to see that sort of revolting...disgust...

Okay, now that DW has left the room... :Pinkbounc  :bounce:

Man, nothing like that ever happens to me. Although we did keep running across a particular young lady on our honeymoon cruise near the pools whose bikini top was holding on for dear life every time she'd stretch or move. She'd obviously gotten some assistance in the chestal region from our friends at DuPont, and good LAWD did she look silly. And she was such a little tiny thing. Probably a size 2, but she had to be packing at least an E cup.

I really want to make a joke about personal flotation devices, but there are kids here... :rolleyes1

I had never met swingers before, but now I have......
(I just deleted a long explicit story)
I just hope that there is none of that behaviour exhibited onboard. :earseek:
What a shame. :sad2:
If someone wanted to parade around naked, they could just take a Carnival cruise or something!
I am hoping not to encounter anything like that while on this cruise. These days everything is geared toward that three letter word and kids are forced to grow up so soon. I just don't like it.
That's probably why I love being in a Disney State Of Mind

You are hilarious! :rotfl2: We had a similar experience on our Disney cruise this past fall, in Costa Maya. There was a young woman who had been 'heavily assisted', sitting on the edge of the salt water pool. Interestingly, she would lower her sunglasses to scowl at the men staring at her. We wanted to ask her what she expected, being so scantily clad in her bright pink and orange string bikini! Our DD5 even noticed her, being so 'bright'! Out of the mouths of babes.

I think it IS more shocking when you see off-the-wall stuff on Disney LOL! On a western cruise from a few years ago, there was a young mom (surrounded by her little kids) reboarding in Cozumel who was so drunk, she could not walk ( but she was singing in a dialect of Spanish I was not familiar with) and was falling on the gangplank only to be dragged by her adult companions with her lifeless legs behind her. We avoided that elevator figuring that the odds of her throwing up were pretty high! Then on a more recent cruise there was a woman at the table adjacent to ours in the dining room who "topped" herself everynight with managing to wear less and less clothing to dinner. Toward end of week even the waiters were joking about whether or not it was possible for her to wear less and still be lawful. And yup, she was surrounded by her little kids!

We were once on CC and a woman decided to go topless....a CM was called over and an arguement started...her wanting to bare everything and the poor CM trying to explain that is was not appropriate on CC to be topless....CM won...well at least the woman left the beach....I do not know where she went next.

We have also seen one or two women who feel a thong bikini with their butt cheeks hanging out is appropriate onboard as well.

This is too funny! :rotfl:

Corryn, I wish that I had of seen your story...or maybe I'm glad I didn't. Now you're going to be encouraging people to go on a Carnival Cruise! ;)

jlowejd5, too funny!

It is hard for me to imagine a person dressing (or not dressing) like that in front of children, much less their own. Or getting drunk in front of them. It's that "do as I say, not as I do" mentality that can really get the parents in trouble when those kids are teens.

We also encountered a drunk who had a cabin across the hall from us. Everytime we saw him he was plastered....and he was always with a small child (was indeed his DD). But, one night there was screaming and yelling and our DD who was 16 at the time heard a plea for help and banging on our stateroom door (hubby and I were at dinner). She couldn't deny the plea for help and opened the door to find a woman and child shaking and crying and saying someone was trying to hurt them. My DD whisked them into our cabin, bolted the door and immediately called security. She was trying to clam the woman and child down. Could hear the drunk screaming "where is my daughter...you stole her and blah blah). Found out that the drunk guy was travelling with this woman and her family who were relatives....the drunk and the DD had a cabin and this woman and her family had a cabin elsewhere on the ship. The woman was very concerned for the safety of the child as the guy was drunk all the time and wanted the little girl to stay with them. The drunk guy accused her of trying to steal his child and a fight ensued with him threatening her. DCL security was there in a flash and the guy was taken from his cabin and brought somewhere...hopefully the brig. We found out later that the scared woman did indeed have the child stay with her and the guy was under house arrest for the rest of the cruise. Don't know what happened at the end of the cruise..but my DD said it was very scary at the time. I questioned her about opening the door to strangers but she said she could not let the woman stay out in the hall. I agreed and I am glad she was good samaritan.

Good for her! I know it wasn't the wisest thing to do, but how could she do any different? Smart girl, bolting the door and contacting security.

Having taken 2 cruises on Carnival, I am happy to report that I saw NO ONE parading naked. Carnival does provide, on some of their ships, a deck where female passengers can sunbathe topless. There are warning signs for no cameras, no videos, and no children. The rules are enforced very well when it comes to kids. While there are those who are offended by this, they don't have to go there and look.

As far as thong bathing suits, unless there are rules, people will wear them, whether anyone feels that the wearer should or shouldn't. Not everyone has a model's figure, what may look disgusting to you could look amazingly attractive to others.

As far as those who make drunken fools of themselves, unfortuneatly there are many of those on every cruise ship. Hopefully none of us will ever have to call security about them, but it is nice to know that DCL does at least pay attention and will put the safety of the passengers above the comfort of the abusive partier.

Reminds me of a cartoon someone had posted on their cube wall. The caption at the bottom read "Why men will never understand women." The picture is of a woman talking to a plastic surgen. She says to the surgen "I want them big enough that I can tell the men to 'quit learing' at them."

Well, I thought it was surprising that Our 1st disney cruise in July 04, wonder. We got a show on the 10th floor deck during the "party"! After another very late dinner, we got to the party late and deck 9 was very crowded so sister and I went up to deck 10 to watch the cm's, & kids dance etc... BUT had no idea ..... We were standing leaning up against the rail on deck 10, & as it started to sprinkle a little rain, and the drunk couple of middle aged adults standing next to us (oblivious to anyone else, anywhere) began to dance, seductively. I started to hear "shake you A&%" a few times that is what caught our attention. and then he started slapping (as he said) that part of her anatomy. Now this is in full view of deck 9 and 10 packed with people at the Party? Then they start going at it, We had of course moved way down from these 2, didn't want people to think we where with them. Finally someone yelled get a room, and a CM came over (who was working the lights, for the party) and got rid of them & there 4 or 5 yr old daughter who was on the other side of them. (we couldn't see her before). Anyway, this was really the only inappropriate thing we saw on our cruise. pirate:

DAAAYUM! Hanging up on Carnival and now feverishly calling DCL back again!

As for appropriate dress, I do think there's a lot of subjectivity involved in concluding what's too "risque" for a Disney cruise. Many cruisers are foreigners, after all, and what Brazilians, Germans, or French might consider normal attire is often likely to raise more than an eyebrow ;) when viewed by an American not used to such things.

My wife has a nice figure, and (God bless her) she's not adverse to flaunting it occasionally when the setting permits -- by, for example, sometimes wearing a thong to the beach; but at our beach, she's not out of place in doing so. I seriously doubt she'd wear one out in public while on a Disney cruise, because as a Floridian very familiar with Disney, she knows that what might be appropriate in other settings might not necessarily be considered so on a Disney cruise ship -- at least not by a significant group of cruisers with more conservative tastes.

But let's face it, there are some people who live in countries/places where a thong/string bikini on a woman, or a speedo brief on a man, is standard-issue public bathing attire -- I doubt most of these people would even comprehend that they were calling attention to themselves, and I'm guessing many would be outright embarrassed if they knew that they were being viewed as "half-naked" by other cruisers.

Public drunkenness, however, is another matter, and regardless of your cultural background, there's no excuse for being a bad drunk on a cruise ship filled with chilrden. Booze is permitted in your stateroom, and if you can't handle your liquor, that's where you should practice.

True about beliefs and modesty (or lack of lol) in other countries. My sister, who is extremely modest, had her first mammogram while living in Europe. She was expected to walk, naked on the top, to where the mammogram was performed. If you knew her you'd realize just how funny it is. :rotfl:

Of course that would never occur in the United States, but must have been normal there.

Last poster mentioned the dreaded "S" word...Eeeeeewwwww.

Other than occasionally lucking out to have a lounge chair that offered a view of a "yummy mummy" (shared an apartment with a Pediatrics Resident years ago, have never forgotten some of his stories), the closest I came was last cruise, in the Lab, when we were dropping off D on the first evening, DW pointed out a mom seated down at the table, filling out paperwork, and showing her thong in the back sneaking up and out of her slacks. DW, a prim and proper (Hey! I did not say Frigid! No sir, not me, didn't even think it) lady did her Junior League best and after mentioning it to me discreetly whispered to the yummy one (and she was, too!) that she might want to adjust a few things or pull her blouse down in the back. Sigh.

A thong on the wrong body, like a speedo, is not a pretty sight. The thong in the Lab seemed like it was on a well chosen body for thong wearing. Smoke 'em if ya got 'em.

That said, a Disney Ship is intended by the company to be an extension of the Disney World experience, so keeping it family friendly and suitable for network prime time isn't a bad idea. But then, Disney does own ABC and makes money off Desperate Housewives, doesn't it? :rotfl:

The irony of thong underwear is that thongs were originally intended to eliminate panty lines. But nowdays, it seems like a moot point...why worry about panty lines of you're just gonna show the panties?!
