ADR System Upgrade - History

Does anyone have the link to the new on-line dining system????

I think people are jumping the gun.

There is NO online dining reservation system yet. So there is no link to it yet.

They hope to have it ready by the middle of this month. Doesn't mean it will be ready.

The quote about the new "a la carte" system (that's just the name of it) does not even refer to online dining.

I hope my very frustrating experience yesterday and my COMPLETELY different experience today might help some of you be prepared.

I called yesterday morning at exactly 7:00 am EST (6 for me) to make an ADR for May 31st. I got through to a live person very quickly and thought I was lucky! I had not read this thread prior to calling, so I did not know that only specially trained CMs could make the ADRs for AFTER May 26. There was also NO special announcement when I called saying push 1 for dining reservations for May 26 - June 11.

The CM said "oh, you cannot make any reservations until March 8 since your checkin date at AKL is June 6th". HUH. We are staying offsite from May 30 to June 6 and then onsite two days. She seems VERY flustered and VERY confused. So I said in my nicest most controlled voice..."that doesn't seem right. We are staying offsite for the first week of our stay and today is 90 days from the date I want the reservation. What if we were not staying at a Disney resort at all...are you saying that I could not make ANY ADRs if I am not staying at Disney?" So she put me on hold, then came back and said let me try this, let me try that....and then finally said "I am not getting anything to come up on the screen for that restaurant".

The poor frustrated woman again put me on hold forever, came back and said her supervisor agreed they were going to do me a "favor" since she knew that PSD could book up fast and was having her transfer me to a special guest services person called and Itinerary Planner that could make the reservation. At this point I had been on the call for about 35 minutes. [Now that I have read this thread, I am pretty dumbfounded that this CM had not been trained to at least know that if someone called for ADRs after May 26, she had to transfer the call].

So I get transferred. And held. And held. And held. I began to worry that since the CM was so totally clueless as to what was wrong and why that maybe she did not properly transfer the call. After 45 more minutes of holding I finally hung up and called back.

This time I got the same Disney Reservation prompts that I always got in the past. After 14 minutes a male CM answered. I told him what I wanted and he immediately said he could not help me and he was going to have to transfer me to "Itinerary Planning". He said, in a kind of irritated voice, we can't do anything for any dates past May 26th. I said "Oh I am so sorry, is there another number I am supposed to be calling??" He said, again in a kind of irritated voice, "If you would have listened to the prompts, it tells you to push a number to take you to reservationists for those dates." I said apologize, I did not hear that, it just asked me what I wanted and I said Dining Reservations and it took me to you. He said "well it IS kinda far down on the message prompts." So he transfers me. And I held. And held. Finally, after 46 minutes, I had to hang up to leave to take DD to school.

All day long yesterday, the thought that "hey, maybe this time we won't make any ADRs and just eat counter service" resonated through my brain. I was not about to go through all that again. So today I read this thread. Decided to give it another shot this evening.

When I called, there was indeed this time a prompt right off the bat after your say dining reservations saying "if you are calling to make advance dining reservations for after May 26th through June 11, press 1." I thought to myself "ahhh...this is what the male CM was talking about, BUT THAT WAS NOT there yesterday morning!!!!!" I got through to a live person after holding about five minutes. She did ask for my checkin date, and I told her we were staying offsite for that portion of our stay and not checking in til later in the week. She said no problem, I will just list it under your name rather than using your hotel reservation. She asked me what time I wanted for breakfast and I easily got the time I wanted. It was quick and easy and done in no time.

FOR A COMPANY LIKE DISNEY THAT IS USUALLY SO CUSTOMER SERVICE ORIENTED, I AM SHOCKED AND DISAPPOINTED AT THE LACK OF TRAINING THAT IS BEING RECEIVED BY THE CMs AND THE JUST PLAIN WRONG INFORMATION BEING GIVEN OUT BY SOME OF THEM ABOUT THE NEW ADR SYSTEM that I have read about on this thread that ends up wasting our time, as well as causing us stress and utter confusion. I also cannot understand why calling at different times on the same day gets you different computerized messages and different prompts. It seems that the system should be prepared for the day by 6:45 am.

I hope my experience will help some of you out there know what to expect. Have a Disney Day!

It sounds to me like their voice prompt system is not fully updated on all the lines.

If someone who has read this thread calls and does NOT get the prompt, please be sure to tell the answering CM that you understand that there SHOULD be a prompt, but it did not give you one, and they should check their voice prompt system.

There is likely more than one server handling the lines, and one or more of them did not get the new update. This seems to be frustrating the CMs who seem to think it is there and can't understand why the calls are getting to them.

I called this moring at 0830 ish to make my CRT and a couple of other ADR's for June 1-5th. I got all the prompts and pressed the appropriate date prompt (June 1-11th) but was then placed on hold for what seemed like an eternity--over 25 mins the first time( so I just hung up) and for 20mins the second time ( just hung up again--I hate waiting on the phone like that, I think it is rediculous). I then remembered that I can call the BC CL IPO (it is my first CL stay so I had forgotten about the IPO). Yeah! I got right through to her and she made all of my ressies with no problem and gave me ressie numbers for them all.

Otherwise I am not sure if I would have gotten through to make my ressies.

I hope everyone gets their ressies they want. I could not believe how long I was on hold with NO answer. How flustering that was until I was able to reach the IPO.

sooo...if you are making reservations for AFTER June 11th...does something else happen? What is it about May 26-June 11th? Or is that the prompts are just giving you the dates that are 90 days from the day you are calling?

i hope I can get what I need ADR wise without having to be on hold for EVER!

:goodvibes

All I can say is that I am SOOOO dreading Saturday which is when I am supposed to call for my June ADRs :scared1::scared1::scared1:

I think the recording was referring to the people staying on-site who could call and book up to 10 days after their checkin date. You couldn't make ADRs past June 11th yesterday (except for CRT, CM, V&A). It should say the 12th today.

I called yesterday and got all the promts and hit the right ones but still ended up with a CM that had to transfer me to another one who could do the new reservations. I was on hold for 68 minutes total to get through and then it took forever for the CM to get the system to go through for my ADR's. I just put the phone on speaker and surfed the net while listening to Disney music. I felt bad for the CM who had to sit on hold with me waiting for the other CM. Now I get to do this all over again next week to make my reservations for the second weeks reservations.

I think I am glad I'm not going until later in the year - hopefully they will have all the bugs worked out and I can make ressie's online!

We are going in August. My ADR time is in May. I know there is an exception for Cinderella's Castle is it the same for Chef Mickey's? Can I book that earlier than 90 days? I'm so confused! :headache:

Thanks.

Our trip is in June and we have already booked chef Mickey's but haven't been able to book anything else yet -- just a few more days now.

I have no idea why we were able to book Chef Mickeys earlier than the others.

No
CHef Mickeys and CRT were still able to be booked 180 days out when everything else switched to 90. But not anymore. Currently it can be booked for dining through June. But, after that the 90 day applies to all ADRs

I just read the sticky that dining reservations are going to go to an online system starting possibly the second week in march..does anyone know if the 90 day window is also going to stay the same! Pleaseee tell me it is..otherwise I need to hurry and get my stuff together!

The window is going to stay the same, so you have time to get your plans finalized. :goodvibes

Just a FYI . I called to ask a question about the CRT and they are booking out PAST the 90 day window..upto June 19th at this time....I didn't get any of my ADR's that we wanted as I was told they were 90 days when I had called a few weeks ago..but I could have booked it at that time...so call now if your arriving before June 19th...also Chef Mickeys is the same...

So I am wondering how this will work after ADRs switch to online. Does that mean that calling will no longer be an option or that online will be preferred over calling? We have booked through CAA and have a "booking number" rather than a reservation number so I'm nervous that I'll try to book online and it won't go through.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You will still be able to call and make reservations.....the internet doesn't work all the time!! :)
