Ok here is my issue:

I was talking with a friend of mine who is traveling to WDW in early September. She told me she couldn't get ADRs for Le Cellier for 3 Adults... BUTTTT she did make an ADR for 1 adult. Her plan was to arrive at the podeum and tell the hostest that she made a reservatio nfor 3 adults and someone else must have messed up

Does anyone else think this is wrong?

Um... yes, I definitely think that's wrong. They would have given the 1 adult a table for two. When the 3 show up, they will 1) be LYING to get a table and 2) be taking up a table that should go to someone who made ADR's earlier, and made a legitimate reservation. It will just push back others' ADR's.

Wrong. :sad2:

What did you say to this person when they told you they were doing this?

I hope they turn her away. But I bet it will work, and yeah, that is unethical. Lying to get what you want is pretty much always wrong.

She told me to do it for my up coming trip, I out right refused to do it. It just doesn't seem right

I probably would have done the same thing. Depending on my relationship with the person, I don't know if I'd be able to outright tell them that I thought they were totally out of line. If I was close with them, I definitely would let them know.

It's sad. I've never thought of this before- but I'm sure it's not the first time this tactic has been used. :sad2:

She's lying to get what she wants, that's pretty pathetic. I would ask her if she could call a few more restaurants and see if she can get ADRs for 3, or even call back and see if someone cancelled and she can increase her ADR. I believe in Karma, so I just wouldn't lie, and for an ADR it so silly!

You are probably right, I can imagine it would be pretty easy to tell someone that someone ELSE made a mistake

I have had two ADRs screwed up on the Disney's side of things ... they were eventually fixed by the nice staff upfront, but I wonder if they were rolling their eyes on the inside thinking I was another person trying to cheat the system the way your friend is doing. I agree that they will probably be accommodated, but I feel sorry for the people who booked a table of 4 behind them who will have to wait that much longer to be seated. I think it stinks.

Well, if she's doing it at Le Cellier, she may not get away with it. Those CM's there are crazy about ADR's. We had ADR's made by the itinerary planning office for us, for the right number of people (only 2 of us), and actually brought our printed confirmation to dinner with us, because I'm just that kind of person :)

The CM said the ADR's were showing in the computer as being for the next day, same time. Even though we had the printed confirmation (on WDW paper, not our own print out), they argued and argued with us. I told them to call the concierge to straighten it out, since we obviously hadn't made the mistake - we had the WDW print out! The CM at Le Cellier argued with the concierge; the concierge insisted it was for the right date in his computer. They reached an impasse.

Finally the CMs at Le Cellier flat out refused to seat us & told us to come back the next day. I was highly incensed - we'd done everything correctly, had played by the rules, and the CMs just arbitrarily chose not to seat us! There was a large crowd of people waiting outside that night, so I guess they'd just overbooked & were trying to thin out the crowds by turning some ADR's down.

Your friend may be out of luck here - if she gets a CM similar to the ones we got, they would have no problem refusing to seat her. I wouldn't worry about it; clearly the CM's have no problem refusing entry to Le Cellier. They will probably seat her if it's a slow night, and in that case, she would have been seated without the ressies anyway.

Cheers!

That's pretty weak. It sounds as if someone's "moral compass" isn't functioning well. pirate:

Well I am glad you guys have the same opinion as I have... I felt a little bad telling them off but now I am no longer regretting it..

and yes this person and I are close so it isn't a friendship ruining event

Definitely a no no. I have found that if you are turned down for a reservation for your entire party at one table try asking if they can split you party into two tables. We have had a party of 5 that had to make reservations for 3 and 2. When we got to the restaurant they had our reservations for two separate tables but tried their best to seat us all at the same table anyway. Disney does their best to keep you together and keep customers happy if they can. There are ways to eat where you want without lying.

Who does this? People like this should visit Six Flags instead.

:confused3 What the heck is that supposed to mean??? :confused3

I've never been to a Six Flags Park, but I'd be willing to bet not everyone there is "morally corrupt".

2Xited4Disney - what does that message in your signature mean? I see some dates and times, but you didn't list a restaurant!!! Is it Le Cellier? Sorry to say, I've had my WDW vacation for the year, so I won't be cancelling anything, but others might, if they knew where you wanted to eat!!!
