my daughter got engaged during the star wars cruise. her fiance popped the question pirate night while they were visiting goofy. she had no idea and was really surprised.

There was a couple that got engaged on the 2015 WBPC cruise. I can't exactly remember now...I think he proposed as they boared announcing her as the "future Mrs. Whatever" all her family boarded first and they were all watching as he dropped to one knee and all the passengers cheered.

And as a bit of "pre-engagement advice" dont think about it. I was with my partner for 6 years before we got engaged. He said he was going to propose on our 6th anniversary. That day came and he asked me where I wanted to go to dinner...I picked a place and called to make a reservation. I checked his pockets for a ring box...nope. So I proceeded to drink away my sorrows because I convinced myself it wasnt happening and ended up very drunk at Ruth Chris Steakhouse....well, that same night, after dinner, he proposed on the San Diego Bay. I have NO MEMORY of it at all. I would have never gotten drunk if I was not upset about not getting proposed to. Its the one regret I have from my entire life. Don't overthink it, stress about it or dream up when it could happen. Just let it happen naturally.

As I stated, I'm not expecting, nor will I be disappointed. I am so hard to surprise (because I'm so dang observant) that I truly try not to ruin it by seeking out info.
I do, however, have anxiety and learning about other experiences would be more helpful for me to mentally prepare if it does happen.
If not, he's still my boyfriend that I love and I'm on an awesome Disney vacation! Still win-win to me lol

I have a good friend who proposed during Star Wars Celebration in Orlando a few years ago, if that means anything. :D Skip ahead to 5:00 if you want to see the big moment, but don't miss his intro. (If you've seen Say Yes To The Dress: Atlanta, you've probably seen her) Just a fun moment that's sorta Disney related to convey.

I got engaged to my now wife on the Wonder in 09. There's any number of ways that it can be done. My wife almost found out in the terminal due to a freak accident. Keep in mind my wife can smell jewelry a mile away. So where sitting in the terminal waiting to board and I went to get something out of my back pack and realized that my suntan lotion had opened and exploded onside my backpack. So as I'm cleaning it and trying to keep it low key since the bag with the ring in its box woth the name of the store I got it from was very recognizable on it my now wife and mother in law are hanging over my shoulder looking trying to help. Get them out of my bag and closed up. Flash foward on the ship. At lunch I get away for a minute run down to our cabin talk to our steward and have then put the romance package on ice until turndown. After lunch go to our cabin unpack hide the ring and we go off and do whatever. That night after dinner go back to the cabin and there's the package on the bed. My wife still hasn't picked up on it but my mother in law did in about 3 seconds. My wife foes out on the balcony, I fake going into the bathroom and found the box right where I left it and my wife somehow missed again. And the rest is history. I'm really surprised and so is my wife an in laws that she never saw the ring in my bag and didn't hear me open the closet doors and dog the ring out frim under our luggage. So it can be done, and it can be planned or unplanned or elaborate or simple.

A cruise is a wonderful place to propose, but I think it's a dangerous thing to do. I mean, what if you say no? He's stuck in the same stateroom with you. I'm only saying this, because if he's thought of it, he may not propose there. He may just want to do a cruise with you. That doesn't mean your proposal isn't coming. In fact, you may be engaged by the time of the cruise. He may want to do it on your 1 year anniversary. But if he doesn't, as you said, it doesn't matter.

Also, you could propose to him, right? Pick a nice spot on the last night of the cruise (in case he says no) and go for it.

Exactly. I don't get why someone would propose with the chance that the person will say no - and not for a short cruise either, but a super long one. I mean can you imagine how awkward it would be in the room if the person says no?

That being said, hoping he proposes for the long cruise will only get you cranky because you'll 1.) Spend all your time wondering if this is the moment; or 2.) Being disappointed that it hasn't happened or may not happen.

My son proposed to his now fiancee on the Fantasy October of 2014. He had it planned for formal night in the Royal Court Dining Room. We met with Special Events cordinator (Alm I believe) and the pastry Chef during the day, gave them the ring and a glass slipper. We had dinner, dessert was when the wait staff brought out everyone's but hers. Our server Dejean came out with a covered dish for her, my son got up and got down on one knee as she uncovered her dish, the ring had been placed on a strawberry decorated as a tuxedo sitting on the glass slipper.

If I new how to attach the video, I would.

Oh, that sounds amazing! If you ever figure out how to post the video, or link to a YouTube of it, I would so watch that!!! Disney does not do anything by half! :)

I got engaged on a 2015 Fantasy cruise. My fiance chose formal night so I wouldn't figure out based on getting dressed up. Then before dinner we went to Oh La La the champaign bar. We sat around chating with friends. Then he told me he wanted to show me a video. I actually was super pissed thinking he had wasted our internet package because he was having a kick from watching random internet videos. He practically had to beg me to watch the darn thing. Well it ended up being one of my favorite actors (the gentleman who plays the Genie on Broadway) and the video was cute and about helping grant my fiance's wish since genie's can't grant true love. Next thing I know there is a plate with strawberries and the box.

After dinner we had a fake proposal om the grand staircase for photos.

I later told my fiance I at least knew it was on the trip as I saw the email to my friend planning the whole thing (didn't open only saw the subject) because I was on our desk top as an alert for his email came through. Poor guy had forgotten to turn the apple alerts off when he set up the computer.

Im going on the EBPC this fall and I will be going with my boyfriend. He's been particularly adamant about going on the cruise (no matter our financial situation). I know he wants to marry me someday AND I've told him no proposals until after a year of dating ... And this cruise is less than 1 month after our year dating anniversary.
Because of all that, I'm wondering if he will be proposing. I won't be disappointed if he doesn't, I'm just wondering ^_^

So then, have any of you experienced a proposal onboard a Disney Cruise?
Would you mind sharing your experience?

Thank you :flower3:

To the bolded: not very smart. Hopefully he will get more responsible as your life together goes on.

Our son proposed to our now DIL onboard the Fantasy back in 2012. He did not want to do it in front of the whole family (extended family/friend cruise) so on formal night, before dinner, he asked her talk a walk on deck with him. The sun was setting and he was all set to propose when the deck crew came by to power wash the deck!!! Water was spraying all around. They had to move to another area and same thing happened...he was starting to think it was an omen lol. Finally he took her up to Deck 13 forward and found a quiet place with no power washing going on (and the sun was still setting) and proposed.

The whole family knew he would be proposing so we all were waiting down in Ooh La La with champagne ready to go!!! She was so happy. It was great!!! They arranged a private photo shoot on Castaway Cay with the photography crew and got some great pics.

They are now bringing their beautiful baby girl on her first Disney Cruise on the Fantasy this August with extended family/friends and we will be celebrating her first birthday onboard....can't wait!!! Grandma is excited!!!
