We are planning an extended family vacation to WDW in August 2004. We are planning on staying at the Polynesian and will need 3 rooms. We would like to get adjoining or connecting rooms. Does anyone have any experience with this? I planned to request this at the time we make the reservation, as well as by fax to the room controller a few days prior to our arrival. I realize that there is no guarantee we will actually get 3 adjoining rooms, but I am curious if anyone has had any luck making a similar request.

adjoining rooms are next to get other - connecting rooms have a door between to the other room - which do you want?

Poly has connecting rooms - so that should not be a problem - but only 2 together - the one would have to be adjoining.

I had luck with our requests. We were staying in four rooms with a party of 16 a several years ago. We requested a specific section of the hotel and that our rooms be next door or adjoining. They told us there was no guarantee, but when we got there, we had four rooms of which there were two sets of two adjoining. They were all next to eachother and in the section we requested. I believe they make every effort to accomodate you, the only problem may be if you go during an extremely crowded time. Maybe then, they would run out of adjoining rooms. I don't know how many a hotel has?

Adjoining = next to each other (maybe across the hall), but no way to go from one to the other unless you leave your room and go into the hallway.

Connecting = the rooms are right next to each other and they have a door inside the room that leads to the other room.

There are not that many sets of connecting rooms, so your chances of getting connecting rooms depends on how many other people have put in a request.

We have always requested connecting rooms and have only gotten them a few times. We have been told several times that it depends on how early you check in not how far in advance you request. Do request this when you book and make sure it is on your ressie. Then try to get there as early as you can before all the connecting rooms are already taken.

We got a connecting room when we went with my MIL and stayed at CS. Boy how I wish they had been all out of connecting rooms when we checked in...

I was told that you can have a guaranteed connecting rooms if there are minor children in one room w/no adult. If you have 2 rooms and 3 adults, then the guarantee will not be granted. We went with our adult kids (so no guarantee--and did not want connecting rooms). We were on the same floor about 2 doors down.

LOL gravymom!:D What's the old saying...be careful what you wish for, you just may get it! Although I assume you were not wishing for that ... You made my day with the chuckle!:teeth:

We requested (and got) adjoining rooms at the GF - we had small children and our confirmation stated 'connecting rooms guaranteed for families with young children' (or something to that effect).

We didn't request the adjoining rooms the AKL for the next night, but concierge at GF put in a request for us. Upon checkin, I asked if the rooms were adjoining (it was no big deal if they weren't, as we had my mom with us - she was staying in the other room with my little boy) and were told they were. When we got to the rooms, they were connecting, not adjoining. We didn't make a fuss, as we had requested it so late, but then my mom noticed a door connecting into the next room along (not our one). I assumed they had made a mistake and put us in the wrong room, so I called front desk and they moved us to the next room down without any hassle (big treat for ds as there was a bunk bed in the new room).

I would imagine if the hotel isn't full, there shouldn't be any problem getting your three rooms together.
