I am a current owner of a direct sales contract but I added a resale at the same resort but different UY. Since I will need a new membership number I have a few questions.

The deed for the resale was recorded on March 7th here are my questions.

1- How soon can I expect to be able to call Disney and get my membership number? What number should I call?

2- Will I be able to merge everything and have one log in for the website? Please be specific if you've been successful in doing this.

Thanks!

For the website it's likely if everything is titled the same that DVC will catch that and you'll just see it show up when you log in. Then no calling required.

Otherwise there is an option that should allow you to add it to your login.

Because you purchased a different use year, you will have two memberships. They will function independently, but you will be able to manage them under a single website account. You will not be able to combine points at 7 months unless you call in and transfer them from one membership to the other.

If you ever want to use points from both accounts for one reservation, you'll have to call in to MS and have them do a transfer and then booking. Not too complicated, but you do lose the one hour advantage since the phone lines open up an hour after online.

as other PPs stated, both accounts should show up in one login. It's actually pretty convenient. But it can get confusing in tracking your points and making reservations.

The advantage is that you can now make extra waitlist entries.

Keep in mind you can only transfer points 1x per year.

Thanks for your replies. I do understand they are two separate contracts which will require the two member numbers. I was really hoping I could use one sign in for the website and see both contracts although they will work independently from each other. Sounds like they will but they're will be a learning curve to management.

If I surpass my one transfer in a year and want to use points from each contract for the same vacation will Disney link the reservation?? For example contract (a) nights 1-5 & contract (b) nights 6-7 will Disney link those two reservation numbers if they are in the exact same room type?

When I spoke with DVC last week I was told it would apply.... ? If separate contracts....
Who did you speak with? Sales? Until you speak with the folks who actually perform the transfer, you won't get a real answer. The one-transfer rule was designed to prevent rental agencies from collecting and managing points. I was not designed to prevent an owner from using their own points for their own reservation.

I've read of both happening. Technically they could hold it to 1 transfer although you might get a CM who will do it anyway even if you have already done one. I'm unaware of any official rule that states the 1 transfer rule will be disregarded if it's a common ownership. But on the other hand I've been allowed to do 2 transfer once, many years ago. I've always preferred to just use each membership separately though so haven't tried it recently.

Just a few months ago, I was allowed to do the following:

Transfer BWV points with DEC 2016 UY from a 3rd party to my first contract
Transfer VGF points with APR 2016 UY from my second contract to my first contract (DEC UY VGF)

I then later made a ressie for BWV using BWV points...while also booking VGF at 11 months out. MS had no problems doing the second transfer since it was all my points.

I have two UYs with the same resort. I also have been told one transfer in or out per contract per UY. Every time I transferred from one to the other.

To get both contracts to show up on the same page on the DVC site, they also need to be titled the same. If you add an owner or subtract an owner, they might not show up together.

I have 4 UYs Member Numbers, 9 contracts and 7 Home Resorts - 2 are myself/husband/daughter, 1 is myself/husband, 1 is myself/daughter - I was able to link them all under one logon on the DVC site - but I did need to contact Tech Support to help.
I too was told by Member Services it was one Transfer in OR out per UY
If I make a reservation and want to use points from different UYs /different Home Resorts - I use online booking - days 1 to 5 from UY A and then days 6 - 10 from UY B and then call Member Services later to link the 2 reservations. At the 7 month mark - I don't want to wait that extra hour to do the reservation with transferred points...

The admin department at DVC...they are handling the addition of my son to our contract and we spoke about our contracts having different names (one with just my husband and I and the other with my husband, me and my son) they would be considered different contracts...needing a transfer.

It seems like a trivial difference, but since you have different owners, I can see why the one-transfer rule would be enforced. When you have the same owners (identically deeded), but with different use years, they haven't enforced the one-transfer rule.

Update: My contract showed up on my DVC Dashboard yesterday, March 14th, exactly one week after it was recorded. There were zero points loaded, however this morning, March 15th, all points are there and I was able to make a reservation.

Our deed is identical to the first so DVC did indeed pick that up and add it to our existing online account.

I keep checking ours and hasn't showed up yet in account. I think it was recorded a couple weeks ago. I was going to call accounting today...

Technically the rule applies but exceptions are commonly made when applicable but rarely needed. Let's say you used both transfers already by transferring from one to the other then you need points for both for a single night. They will generally do this regardless but it's on a case by case basis.
