last year we bought AP--they both were activated the day we got there--I went to the MK that day while DH rested so he didnt go to a park that day--

so mine pass expires on Jan 30 while his is good till 2-1 our trip is for 1- 28 to 2-3

the last whole day most of the time we dont go to a park so 2-2 doesnt matter

so now to the question--Im planning on buying just a 2 day ticket to cover 1-31 and 2-1--if I do this before we leave can I add it to my MB and will the days I have left on the pass be taken off first and then the extra 2 days after the pass expires

or do I have to wait till the pass expires before I can add extra days but then I wouldnt be able to make FP until the very end of the trip for those last couple days

or is there an even better --easier cheaper way of doing this--were not planning on renewing our passes and for 2021 trip just buying a few park days

hope this makes sense--thanks-

You can buy the 2 day ticket ahead of time to make FP's. Just make sure when you arrive that you have guest services "prioritize" the AP so that it uses that for entry first. Then when that no longer works, it will move on to the new tickets you bought.

It shouldn't be a problem at all, since you will choose 1/31 as the start date for your ticket. It won't be valid before then anyway.

As for the MagicBand, nothing is ever "added to" or "on" a MagicBand. They just access whatever current info is in your MDE. So your band will work fine to access the 2-day ticket.

You would think but never assume anything about tickets and MDE.
You would assume it would never choose a park ticket over an AP, in any circumstance. Because honestly, in what circumstance would you use a park ticket instead of a valid, operating AP? None. Never. But, MDE will. It did it to me. My mistake as I knew better but got lazy. So even with date based tickets I would get the AP set to be priority over tickets

If you risk it, they can fix it but it will take time. More time than just getting it set right at the start.
